Led by 2025 James Beard Award semifinalists Chef Jonathan Reyes and Chef John Ramos, the chef’s counter turns every course into an intimate, mouth-watering show. 

I recently brought a date here, and we were completely captivated by the theatrical preparation happening right before our eyes. The chefs also explained the origin of each slice. 

Not to mention, the sultry speakeasy vibe is undeniably cool.

Unfortunately, getting a seat is incredibly tough since they only operate three days a week. Additionally, their strict no-vegetarian policy and lack of dietary flexibility can be a major hurdle for diners with specific eating habits. The upscale, fashionable dress code also means you cannot just drop in casually after a long day of work.

Chika omakase is a real treat and an incredibly entertaining omakase experience. The chefs are clearly passionate about the products they source and serve. It was wonderful to hear about their preparations of each dish and I greatly appreciated their ability to accommodate allergies throughout the multiple rounds of courses. The room is large enough to fit parties at tables behind the bar seating which made the setting seem even more like dinner and a show. There is sake, wine and beer service throughout the meal. Highly recommend for sushi lovers celebrating birthday or special date night.

Food was delicious and had a unique twist. Chefs put on a good show and are personable. If you have dietary restrictions and let them know on the front end, they do their best to accommodate. We had a great time. Perfect way to spend our anniversary!

However, you have to bring your own beverages from the restaurant downstairs since they lack a dedicated liquor license. Navigating that logistical step can slightly disrupt the upscale flow of the evening. 

Furthermore, securing one of those six seats requires hawkish attention to their strict weekly ticket releases, making impromptu visits impossible for anyone craving a spontaneous night out.

Tops our list of one of the best omakase experiences we’ve had ever and is by far the best in San Antonio! The setting is intimate and casual. 9 courses of unique, delicate yet generous servings of umami. Amazing flavor from beginning to end! Chef was great to chat with! Moreover, the far North Side location means a rather long drive for anyone living near the central or southern neighborhoods.

Food was presented beautifully and the flavor was nothing short of immaculate ! The staff was over all cordial but our server Johnathan went above and beyond. Kudos to the excellent sushi chefs. Would reccommend these Lukas the Spider roll and Texas wagyu. Fries rice is a must try! They even treated us to special dessert for my parent’s wedding anniversary

Had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Suko’s. The seafood was so fresh, apps were delicious, staff were friendly, drinks were good, and the owner was super nice as well. I recommend the ocean platter if you’re into sashimi. We also got oysters, edamame, wagyu pockets, and stir fried ramen. I can’t wait to be back!

Extremely well-prepared dishes, both delicious and aesthetically pleasing. The fish is fresh and not too fishy. A good place for a date night. Expect a mix of people dressed upscale and families in pajamas. Good cocktail and mocktail menu. This was our second visit and both were good. Reservations recommended.

Had a great time at Godai Sushi with my wife and some close friends who are custom home builders. As local licensed realtors, my wife and I are always looking for new places to try, and this one did not disappoint. We went to talk real estate, enjoy good food, and unwind, and Godai delivered on all of it. The sushi was excellent, the atmosphere was chill and comfortable, and the service was friendly and attentive. A perfect spot for great conversation and a quality meal. We’ll definitely be back.

This is the BEST restaurant in all of Texas if not beyond. I had the most amazing dinner experience with my wife on our anniversary the other day and I had to share. We had the 9 course Omakase where the chef makes each course right in front of you. All of the food was absolutely sublime and the chef was absolutely hilarious and super chill. The food was out of this world amazing!! The best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had A LOT of sushi before.
