The 5 Best Pho Spots in San Antonio Offering Comfort in a Bowl

top-phos-san-antonio
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

  • Broth Depth and Flavor: A great pho lives and dies by its broth. We looked for soups that were slow-simmered for hours to develop complex and highly aromatic profiles.
  •
  • Ingredient Quality: Freshness is completely non-negotiable when it comes to garnishes. We evaluated the crispness of the bean sprouts and the vibrancy of the basil provided with every bowl.
  •
  • Menu Variety: Dining groups often have diverse dietary needs. We prioritized restaurants offering strong vegetarian options alongside their traditional classics.
  •
  • Value for Money: Generous portion sizes make a big difference for lunch seekers. We checked if the amount of noodles and protein justified the menu price.

Finding the best pho San Antonio offers can feel like an incredibly rewarding culinary treasure hunt. I always crave that perfect balance of clear beef broth and fresh herbs on a chilly afternoon to warm me right up.

Grab your chopsticks and get ready to slurp your way through my absolute favorite spots for satisfying those deep, savory cravings.

By the way, if your dining party includes fans of raw fish, checking out the best omakase restaurants in San Antonio might be a fun alternative for another night.

Hours: Monday – Thursday, 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Friday – Saturday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM, Sunday, 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Generous portions and a deeply authentic family recipe make Heavenly Pho Vietnamese Cuisine an absolute standout choice for anyone seriously craving classic Vietnamese cuisine.

I brought a large group of friends here last week, and we were completely blown away by the massive bowls of slow-simmered broth alongside plates of incredibly crisp bean sprouts.

You will immediately notice their strong emphasis on sourcing fresh ingredients and vibrant green garnishes as soon as your steaming food arrives at the table.

Unfortunately, their immense neighborhood popularity frequently leads to frustratingly slow table service and significantly delayed food preparation during those chaotic peak dinner hours.

Pros

  • Highly generous portion sizes
  • Authentic family recipe broth
  • Plant-based and lighter options
  • Clean and casual dining atmosphere

Cons

  • Occasional delays during peak hours

Food Was Absolutely Delicious
I came from Oregon Portland and some Vietnamese friends recommended Heavenly Pho to me. I am really glad I came. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dishes I tried was perfectly seasoned and very satisfying. You can tell they really care about quality of their food. The service was also great, staffs were very friendly and attentive, manager came by and check on you. I will definitely come back next time I am in town.

Catering to specific dietary restrictions is exactly where Pho Sure Bistro truly shines for locals needing specialized meals. They provide highly accommodating and clearly labeled vegan options using a genuine vegetable broth base, which is a huge relief for plant-based eaters who usually have to settle for modified meat soups.

The remarkably friendly staff is always eager to personalize your dining experience to ensure you leave the quiet dining room completely satisfied.

While the vegan broth is exceptionally high quality, the overall variety in this plant-based section is relatively small compared to their massive selection of traditional meat offerings at other Asian restaurants.

Pros

  • Genuine vegetable broth base
  • Clearly labeled menu items
  • Accommodating and friendly staff
  • Offers dairy-free boba teas

Cons

  • Small vegan menu variety
  • Closed entirely on Sundays

Low MSG Use In The Broth

Had been to many Pho restaurants and this place is the best due to the low MSG use in the broth. The broth do have that authentic Pho taste. Price is cheaper but the meats and herbs come with it is stingy. Overall the food is great with great price!

Perfect To Warm Us Up
Such a great place to come for some pho. Our first time. We had their grilled pork spring rolls w/ peanut sauce. Loved it! Full of flavor and the sauce is light. Not heavy/thick. For our entree we both ordered their pho beef meat combo. Oh my! Add all the extras (basil, bean sprouts, jalapeño, & lime! Amazing. I was feeling under the weather, so this was perfect!

3. Pho Ha Long Restaurant

Address: 6424 Northwest Loop 410 #104

Contact: 210-354-7547

Tucked away in Thunderbird Hills, Pho Ha Long Restaurant serves an exceptionally rich beef combination pho. The slow-simmered broth is highly aromatic and packed with tender, fatty brisket.

They certainly don’t skimp on noodles or protein, ensuring a highly filling meal for any hungry lunch seeker. I stopped by on a rainy afternoon recently and found their robust soup to be the perfect comfort food.

The attentive staff was incredibly responsive and quickly made sure my order was perfect.

The main downside is the building itself, requiring you to navigate a somewhat cramped table arrangement and a rather dated interior layout.

Pros

  • Exceptionally rich and aromatic broth
  • Generous noodle and meat portions
  • Highly responsive customer service
  • Dedicated vegetarian broth alternative

Cons

  • Cramped table arrangements
  • Dated building interior

The OG in San Antonio
This is the OG in San Antonio. This is where we had our very first pho 25 years ago, and we have loved pho ever since. The price has gone up several times, but the food not only maintained its amazing flavors but also improved on it. We have tried many places local and other places, this place broth is unbeatable. They have perfected their broth and that is the key to a perfect pho.

Tasty And Flavorful Veggie Broth
Both beef and vegetable pho were really good! The broth in both was tasty and flavorful. Appreciate how they use a veggie broth for the vegetable pho especially for vegetarians because most pho restaurants just use the beef pho broth instead. My sibling was happy that they can enjoy a proper veggie pho. Portions of the bowls were also good. The staff were friendly and the food came out hot at a decent time.

4. Phở Thiên Ân

pho-thien-an

Website: https://phothienan.store/

Address: 126 W Rector Suite 108

Contact: 210- 888-1089 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Sunday, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Seamlessly blending classic Vietnamese soup with popular Chinese favorites gives Phở Thiên Ân a uniquely broad appeal. You can easily pair a traditional beef noodle bowl with a savory stir-fry. They maintain highly accessible pricing for their large combination bowls and varied protein additions.

This extensive menu is perfect for groups who cannot agree on just one type of Asian cuisine.

That said, a broad fusion menu does come with a small tradeoff, as the kitchen divides its focus across multiple cuisines rather than specializing exclusively in refined Vietnamese techniques.

Pros

  • Extensive Pan-Asian menu
  • Specialized vegan broth option
  • Reliable delivery and takeout
  • Accessible pricing for large bowls

Cons

  • Divided kitchen focus

The Pho Hit The Spot

Came here on a cool day and the Pho hit the spot!. The broth was the perfect temperature to warm us up!. We tried the summer rolls and the dumplings and they were also delicious. The peanut sauce is so delicious!. I love the crushed peanuts they put for texture. The service could be a little better. We only were checked on once after our food was delivered. Although the food was great.

Broth Beautiful Flavor

This place was good. I had the house pho and an order of dumplings with a thai tea boba. The dumplings were frozen from the taste which to be fair very few people will make them by hand because it does not always justify the higher cost. The pjo broth was pho broth beautiful flavor. The tables didn’t offer any fush sauce or beef flavor paste which growing up in my house they were staples. Otherwise I would recommend this to anyone. A diverse menu so even the pickiest westerners or western kids can find something they like.

Very Chill Atmosphere

Stopped by while visiting and seriously some of the best pho I’ve ever tried. Very chill atmosphere and the server/host was super friendly. Crab Rangoons were absolutely delicious. Will absolutely be back if ever back in the area.

Service Is More Than 5 Stars

This is our second time to the place. We are amazed to see more varieties in menu. We ordered pho, fried rice, Spring rolls and lomein. Pho is very fresh and tasty. Spring rolls are very fresh as well. Fired rice is not the ordinary fried rice. It is way better than that of other restaurant. Lomein noodle is very soft and tender. The prices are very reasonable. The service is more than 5 stars. We recommend this place highly.
