1. La Panadería Bakery Café

Website: https://www.lapanaderia.com
Address: 301 East Houston Street, San Antonio, TX 78205
Contact: (210) 592-6264
Hours: Monday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Biting into a pastry that merges classical French techniques with vibrant Mexican heritage is a wildly memorable way to start the morning. La Panadería Bakery Café has mastered this fusion by using a rigorous 48-hour fermentation process to guarantee an exceptionally airy texture.
I actually brought a box of their Tequila Almond varieties to a recent office meeting, and the deep, complex flavor completely blew my coworkers away.
Handcrafting these delicate layers daily means you’re always getting a remarkably fresh product. The savory torta hybrids offer a brilliant lunch alternative if you want something heartier than a plain butter roll.
However, securing these treats often requires navigating very long weekend lines, which heavily limits their appeal for a quick morning pit stop.
Customer Reviews:
The best almond croissant I’ve ever had in my whole life.
The Tequilla Almond Croissant was the best almond croissant I’ve ever had in my whole
life and we ordered more pastries to go! Rick the manager was very friendly and helpful! Great atmosphere and we’ll be back!

The tres leches croissant was heavenly!
Oh my gosh!! This place is amazing! The tres leches croissant was heavenly! The staff was very nice, but my iced latte took about 10 minutes to make. I also got a chocolate croissant for later that was delicious! I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Contact: (210) 399-1122
Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Friday – Saturday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Paris Baguette is a globally recognized bakery café that delivers highly intricate pastries alongside a structured digital loyalty program. This setup incentivizes regular visits by turning your daily coffee and pastry runs into reward points.
Their highly standardized baking procedures guarantee a structurally sound, properly laminated treat during every single visit. Plus, you can easily order unique matcha or red bean flavors through their mobile app for a frictionless pickup before work.
However, since this is a massive international franchise, it does lack that intimate neighborhood community feel you might want for a lazy weekend breakfast.
Customer Reviews:
Phenomenal, crispy, light, airy, and full of flavor.
So glad San Antonio finally has a Paris Baguette! This place never disappoints. Their pastries and desserts are always fresh and delicious. The croissants are phenomenal, crispy, light, airy, and full of flavor. The chocolate croissants, donuts, muffins, and all their other baked goods are just as amazing. A perfect spot to grab something sweet or a fresh pastry any time of day!

I love the atmosphere.
While not a traditional French bakery, there’s plenty of tasty treats made and sold here. They have croissants but also milk bread. I really enjoyed the red bean paste roll and the Korean milk coffee. It just opened, and I’m not going to take away points because it not purely focused on French pastries. I love the atmosphere of the decor and friendliness of the staff.

3. Bakery Lorraine at the Medical Center

Address: 7338 Louis Pasteur Drive, Suite 201, San Antonio, TX 78229
Contact: (210) 303-0330 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Treating yourself to an elite culinary creation is entirely possible without booking a flight to Europe. Bakery Lorraine at the Medical Center brings world-class patisserie techniques to the city, founded by chefs who honed their craft at Thomas Keller’s famed Bouchon Bakery.
I stopped by last Tuesday after attending one of the local wine tastings, and their strictly authentic French methodology blew my mind. They import premium European butter to ensure a noticeably richer, flakier finish than you will find at standard cafes.
The intentional Parisian atmosphere elevates a simple breakfast into an elegant dining event.
That said, this uncompromising approach to high-end ingredient sourcing directly results in premium retail prices, meaning these pastries might not fit a casual everyday budget.
Customer Reviews:
Definitely the best croissant I’ve ever had.
I mean just look at it. Would you just look at it? Look at it! This is definitely the best croissant I’ve ever had. Thank God almighty I got to try this. I saw a post on yelp and just had to go for it. While pricey it was just a mouthwatering appetite-pleasing experience. It was gigantic and delicious- every flaky, smooth textured bite. This is a perfect lox everything croissant. Try it. You’ll never have something like it.

What a cute place!
So I passed this place on the way to a doctor’s appt and decided to stop in afterwards. What a cute place! I was in awe looking at all the pretty pastries in the case and everyone was super friendly!! I got a bunch of things and they were ALL good (quiche L, bacon/egg/cheese croissant, and some pastries)…yum!! Also a shout out to the guy who made my coffee ridiculously sweet with lots of cream and vanilla-he was sooo sweet!!

Loading up on fresh morning treats for a large family requires a shop with a massive variety and generous portions. Pan Dulce Bakery and Cafe’s expansive pastry cases showcase dozens of daily-baked options to satisfy any group’s specific cravings.
They preserve traditional Mexican sweet bread techniques while seamlessly serving up standard morning staples like flaky breakfast rolls.
You can easily grab a huge box of these baked goods before exploring the nearby weekend markets. The highly approachable, unpretentious environment makes it easy to secure heavily portioned snacks at an exceptional price point.
However, because their true expertise lies in traditional sweet breads, you might find their laminated dough lacks the ultra-crisp honeycomb structure of a strict French patisserie.
Customer Reviews:
I very much enjoyed my visit here. 🥐
Small bakery and cafe in Castle Hills. Inside place was clean, well lit, and nicely decorated. They have tables and couches to relax, sip coffee and to enjoy baked goods. For breakfast I tried a breakfast croissant with coffee. Service was excellent and the croissant was delicious. They also have a few small tables for dining outside. Nice place with a variety of items to choose from. I very much enjoyed my visit here. 🥐👍

Their savory croissants were my favorite!
I used to live in this neighborhood a couple of years ago and this spot was a GEM! The service was always so good and their croissants were amazing. The atmosphere was very community oriented with a collective of mismatched mugs and some of the best complementary pecan coffee I still think of. I still refer people to them even though I live right by a French bakery. Their savory croissants were my favorite!

Grabbing a wholesome, scratch-made breakfast from the comfort of your car is a rare logistical luxury that completely changes the morning rush. Kneaders Bakery & Cafe pulls off an impressive feat by combining traditional, hearth-baked European bread methods with the sheer convenience of a fully operational drive-thru window.
They focus heavily on unadulterated ingredients to create hearty, comforting pastries without relying on any commercial preservatives. This back-to-basics approach results in incredibly substantial, homestyle baked goods that easily satisfy a massive early-morning appetite.
Busy commuters can snag towering fruit tarts or generously portioned croissants in mere minutes before hitting the highway.
Just remember to plan your intense pastry cravings accordingly. Corporate policy dictates that all locations remain closed on Sundays, which firmly rules them out for any lazy weekend brunch plans.
Customer Reviews:
None have been disappointing.
I love this place. I’d been struggling to find a good tart and raspberry cream cheese croissant (not too sweet, right flavor ratios, texture, etc). At this point, I’ve had over a dozen things, and none have been disappointing.
- Gold Hood | Google Review
The breakfast croissant is a favorite of mine.
I’ve been a customer for five years so far and not one bad experience can I report. The food is consistently good and each staff member helpful, kind and friendly. You just can’t go wrong with anything ordered from Kneaders…although the breakfast croissant is a favorite of mine.
