Finding the Best Christmas Tree in San Antonio: 5 Farms and Lots to Check Out

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Quality and Freshness: We evaluated the methods each vendor uses to keep their inventory fresh throughout the warm Texas winter. Spots that utilize water stands or offer immediate fresh cuts scored much higher on our list.

Variety and Selection: Having options is crucial for families with different ceiling heights and aesthetic preferences. We looked for locations that offered multiple species, such as Douglas and Nordmann firs.

Customer Convenience: Hauling a massive pine tree is not easy, so we prioritized businesses that offer helpful services like home delivery and secure tying. Extended operating hours also played a major role in our final choices.

Overall Experience: The holiday season is about making memories, so we considered the atmosphere of each location. Lots offering fun additions like hot cocoa and farm activities were given special consideration.

Finding the best Christmas tree in San Antonio can turn an ordinary December weekend into a cherished family memory. Walking through rows of fragrant pines and finding that perfect centerpiece is a beloved holiday tradition.

Decor enthusiasts hunting for a lush fir, busy local residents needing quick delivery, and parents seeking festive weekend activities for their kids will find plenty of wonderful spots across the city.

To save you time, I explored the highest-rated local lots and scenic farms to help you find the ideal evergreen for your living room this season. Read on to know more!

1. Holiday Hills Christmas Trees Lot 6

holiday-hills-christmas-trees-lot-6

Website: https://holidayhillschristmastrees.com/

Address: 13528 West Ave

Contact: (210) 520-8890

Hours: Sunday – Friday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Saturday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Stepping onto this lot transports you out of the Texas winter, largely because Holiday Hills Christmas Trees sources their premium inventory directly from the cold climates of the Pacific Northwest.

Bringing in cold-weather species ensures exceptional freshness and longevity that holds up surprisingly well in our southern weather.

When I dropped by last December to pick up a Douglas Fir for my living room, I was impressed by how they immediately placed unloaded inventory in water to prevent premature needle drop.

The attentive staff even took the stress out of the errand by helping me wrap and safely load the purchase into my vehicle.

Moreover, they also stay open until 9:00 PM every day, offering flexibility for busy professionals.

Keep in mind that this is a temporary outdoor pop-up setup. Shopping here during sudden rain showers can become quite uncomfortable.

Pros

  • Immediate water treatment upon arrival
  • Full-service loading into vehicles
  • Late evening operating hours
  • Extensive selection of fir species

Cons

  • Weather-dependent outdoor shopping experience
  • Lacks a permanent indoor facility

Customer Reviews:

Freshest trees ever!!

Wow… freshest trees, ever!!  Each tree is in water, beautifully shaped & HUGE selection. Nicest folks, too. 2 types of fresh garland sold by the FOOT, with 5 FT. minimum.  Really pretty Grand & Noble Firs; other Firs 🌲 …3-4 FT mini fresh trees, poinsettias, wreaths, etc.

Lots of trees on display and in stands.

Friendly, knowledgeable, courteous staff. Lots of trees on display and in stands, unlike the big box stores where a tree is unwrapped and leaned back against the others.  Large selection of sizes and the usual selection of types.

If you want a picture-perfect centerpiece, Papa Noel Trees is a must-visit.

Here, they specialize almost exclusively in premium, high-altitude Fraser Firs imported from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. This breed is renowned for its exceptional needle retention and strong branches that can hold heavy ornaments.

It’s also fantastic that every single evergreen undergoes a strict inspection for symmetry and density before hitting the Alamo Heights lot, so you rarely find a sparse option.

They provide complimentary trunk cuts and sell custom water-bowl stands on-site to help maximize your purchase’s lifespan.

For those without a large truck, their robust home delivery and professional setup options are total lifesavers during the chaotic holiday rush.

However, because they exclusively import top-tier mountain-grown firs and implement heavy quality control, their base prices are notably higher than what you might find at standard hardware stores.

Pros

  • Strict quality inspections
  • Convenient home delivery options
  • Complimentary fresh trunk cuts
  • Accessible central neighborhood location

Cons

  • Higher base prices than standard lots
  • Narrow focus primarily on Fraser Firs

Families seeking a bit of local nostalgia will appreciate that Murphy’s Christmas Tree Lot & Pumpkin Patch is a deeply rooted tradition, operating from the exact same neighborhood spot since the 1970s.

This beloved family-operated hub transitions seamlessly from fall pumpkin patch activities into winter holiday shopping.

They feature a wildly diverse collection spanning from small tabletop varieties to massive commercial sizes, effortlessly accommodating almost any household budget.

When you visit, expect a festive atmosphere that rivals that of some of the town’s popular seasonal markets. Walking through their massive white circus-style tent gives the whole outing an old-school charm that kids absolutely adore.

Customer Reviews:

The trees were beautiful with different varieties.

It smells like Christmas! The trees were beautiful with different varieties, sizes and shapes. The trees are well maintained. They even prepare and strap the trees on your car for you. Great service and fair prices. Best place for a tree in the south side area.

Great deals! Great customer service!

We came last year to get our tree, and again this year! This will be our spot to get our tree. They are great! Great deals! Great customer service! We love the tree we picked out! Thank you.

4. Pipe Creek Tree Farm & Pumpkin Patch

Website: http://pipecreekchristmastrees.com/

Address: 805 Phils Rd, Pipe Creek

Contact: (210) 556-4132 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 5:45 PM

For a highly interactive weekend adventure, Pipe Creek Tree Farm provides an authentic choose-and-cut experience where you can roam scenic fields and harvest your own live Afghan Pines.

Cutting the trunk directly from the Texas Hill Country soil guarantees the absolute freshest product possible, easily outlasting pre-cut varieties shipped across the country.

If you prefer traditional northern species, they do import pre-cut Fraser Firs for purchase.

It’s also great that the farm supplies all necessary cutting equipment, and the helpful staff handles the shaking and baling completely free of charge.

My neighbors recently made the drive out there with their kids and raved about the scenic hayrides and endless holiday photo opportunities that rival local attractions

The main downside is the location, which requires a roughly 50-minute drive outside of the city proper, making it a planned day trip rather than a quick local errand.

Pros

  • Authentic choose-and-cut harvesting
  • Free shaking and baling services
  • Immersive family farm activities
  • Guaranteed freshly cut inventory

Cons

  • Long drive outside the city
  • Closes early in the evening

Customer Reviews:

Great selection of Christmas trees.

They have a great selection of Christmas trees. They are very friendly and this is our first time getting a real tree in a long time. We will be coming back next year to get another tree…..

The tree selection was excellent.

We had a perfect day visiting the Pipe Creek Tree Farm. The staff was very friendly and courteous and the tree selection was excellent. This  was our first visit to this tree farm, but we go every year to cut down a tree at other locations. This will be our place to go every year now, even though it over an hour and a half away from our home, it was well worth the drive. Thank you!

Homeowners looking to skip the physical labor entirely should consider HT & Co., which specializes in a fully turnkey holiday delivery and installation service for premium Noble Firs.

Formerly known as San Antonio Holiday Traditions, they take the heavy lifting off your hands by delivering and setting up the centerpiece right in your living room.

They also design beautiful, handmade garlands and fresh wreaths tailored to your home decor. You can even order curated bundles of long-burning New Mexico piñon firewood to complete a cozy winter aesthetic.

I also appreciate that they actively employ and mentor local youth, giving young men in the community solid work opportunities during the busy season.
