We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Accessibility and Cost: We prioritized clinics that offer financial flexibility, including free or low-cost options for uninsured patients. Facilities that provide walk-in availability or rapid testing also scored highly for modern convenience.

Inclusivity and Care Environment: A welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere is crucial for anyone seeking sensitive medical care. We looked for providers that actively champion culturally affirming practices for marginalized communities.

Comprehensive Service Offerings: We favored locations that go beyond basic diagnostics to offer full-spectrum wellness support.    This includes prevention tools like Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), specialty care, and integrated primary health services.

Patient Feedback and Communication: We evaluated real patient experiences regarding clinic responsiveness and communication clarity.    Addressing administrative hurdles, such as long wait times or confusing follow-up procedures, was a key part of our overall assessment.

1. BEAT AIDS

Address: 230 E. Fredericksburg Rd.

Contact: 210-212-2266

Hours: Mon – Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM

Addressing health means looking at the whole picture. That’s why BEAT AIDS embraces a deeply holistic, beyond-clinic care approach.

They actively support underserved populations by stepping outside their walls to address social determinants of health, such as housing and mental well-being.

This community-based outreach makes crucial interventions much more accessible for vulnerable groups across the city.

Patients benefit from a collaborative, multi-provider model that covers the entire continuum of care, from free Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing to rapid treatment initiation.

They even provide integrated life support services and case management to ensure individuals never have to navigate their diagnosis alone.

However, administrative communication can sometimes fall short at this facility.

Patients have reported occasional issues with test result handling and less-than-attentive customer service, which might require you to follow up on your own to get clear answers.

Pros

  • Free and confidential testing
  • Rapid treatment initiation
  • Strong community outreach programs
  • Integrated social support services
  • Collaborative multi-provider care

Cons

  • Potential test result handling issues
  • Inconsistent customer service

AARC Health Equity Clinic specializes in delivering highly inclusive sexual health care tailored for the LGBTQ+ community. Operating as a mission-driven nonprofit, they prioritize equitable access for marginalized groups in South Texas.

You can easily access their comprehensive services, which range from gender-affirming care to specialized viral management.

They also combine clinical treatments with mental health care, housing assistance, and insurance support to lower barriers for low-income individuals.

One of their most convenient features is the walk-in testing option, allowing patients to get rapid results without needing an appointment or an ID.

But while their onsite care is highly supportive, getting in touch with them remotely can be frustrating. Patients frequently experience difficulties reaching the clinic by phone, and inquiries aren’t always answered in a timely manner.

  • Walk-in testing without appointments
  • Rapid same-day results
  • Anonymous testing options available
  • Gender-affirming health services

Cons

  • Difficulty reaching staff by phone
  • Inconsistent responsiveness to inquiries

Very polite, kind, and efficient

Never as an adult have I been treated with this much dignity and respect at a doctor’s office. The staff, nurses, and doctors all are very polite, kind, and efficient. My Dr. takes her time to address all of my concerns and describe things in detail. I couldn’t be happier and I’m so glad I’ve made this place my primary care location. They even offered an option to ship my prescription to my home without me even having to ask. How thoughtful!

Monday, Tuesday & Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Wednesday & Thursday: 9:00am – 8:00pm

2nd & 4th Saturdays: 9:00am – 2:00pm

Stepping into a medical facility shouldn’t feel intimidating. Kind Clinic excels at providing culturally affirming, specialized care for LGBTQIA+ individuals and those impacted by HIV.

When a close friend recently visited their San Antonio location for walk-in testing, they were incredibly relieved by the sex-positive, judgment-free environment the staff maintained.

This facility utilizes an innovative co-located care model, meaning you can get tested, treated, and pick up your medication from their onsite pharmacy all in a single visit.

They offer completely free or low-cost prevention and treatment services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. They even offer statewide virtual care options if you prefer to handle your prescriptions from home.

Despite the welcoming atmosphere, the administrative workflow can be quite sluggish. You might face frustratingly long wait times past your scheduled appointment, often exacerbated by delays in receiving digital intake forms and sparse front desk staffing.

  • Walk-in testing available
  • Statewide virtual care options
  • Onsite co-located pharmacy

Cons

  • Delays in receiving intake forms

Everyone’s very nice

I absolutely love coming here to receive my gender affirming care. Everyone’s very nice and it feels like a community. I used to be really anxious due to past healthcare experiences but now I feel at home. Thank you everyone for being so kind. Getting blood work is quick and easy, and I don’t have to fight to get the right dose of hormones.

Managing your overall well-being alongside specific health concerns is incredibly efficient at Apollo Wellness. This is thanks to their comprehensive integration of sexual health and adult primary care.

They foster an inclusive, sex-positive, and judgment-free environment where patients feel entirely comfortable discussing sensitive topics.

I recently spoke with a patient who praised their concierge-style approach, noting how the staff tailored their treatment plan specifically to their personal background and gender identity.

The clinic offers everything from rapid, confidential diagnostic testing to Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) management and chronic disease care.

They also provide telehealth options and same-day appointments, adding a layer of flexibility for those with demanding schedules.

Unfortunately, navigating the billing side of things can be a significant hurdle because they have strict insurance compatibility limitations.

Some patients have also had their appointments abruptly canceled upon arrival due to sudden changes in their coverage eligibility.

Pros

  • Integrated primary care services
  • Rapid and flexible testing
  • Personalized concierge-style approach
  • Telehealth and same-day appointments
  • Safe and inclusive environment

Cons

  • Strict insurance compatibility limitations

Nice to have a safe place to go to address issues

It is amazing to have a clinic designed for the lgbtq community. It’s nice to have a safe place to go to address issues that we have and not be judged. The staff was great and attended to all my needs and I will definitely be using Apollo for my continued care.

Address: 540 Oak Centre Dr, Suite 114

Contact: (210) 985-1700

Hours: Mon – Thursday 9 AM–5 PM, Friday 9 AM–12 PM

The Wellness & Aesthetics Medical Center shifts the focus heavily toward treating sexual dysfunction and optimizing performance.

Led by an experienced physician, this clinic integrates targeted sexual wellness treatments with anti-aging and regenerative medicine.

This holistic approach ensures that both male and female patients can look, feel, and perform better through highly customized care plans.

Rather than functioning as a standard diagnostic center, they offer advanced niche therapies like hormone optimization and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments.

The staff prioritizes in-depth patient education, helping you understand exactly how these functional therapies can restore your overall confidence.

While the medical expertise is robust, the clinic struggles with administrative clarity. Multiple patients have highlighted pricing transparency concerns, noting unexpected inconsistencies between the initially quoted service rates and the final billed charges.

Pros

  • Specialized dysfunction treatments
  • Advanced regenerative therapies
  • Personalized physician-led care
  • Services for both men and women
  • Integration with anti-aging medicine

Cons

  • Pricing transparency concerns
