Hours: Monday to Saturday 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Tossing together traditional preparations with a distinct South Texas flair, Sensational Salads and Wraps elevates casual dining.
They operate a highly convenient permanent location offering a drive-thru and rapid delivery for personalized, made-to-order meals.
I swung by recently to test their claim of rebranding the typical appetizer into a hearty main event, and the sheer volume of their bowls completely blew me away.
Since 2012, their kitchen has maintained an impressive track record by testing hundreds of recipe variations to find the perfect flavor profiles. Alongside fresh ingredients, the staff also works hard to guarantee top-tier service.
You’ll need to plan your visits carefully, though, as they’re completely closed on Sundays.
The greens were fresh, chicken well cooked, sauces were perfect
Sensational Salads is phenomenally sensational!! Their Chipotle Chicken Salad was amazing. I got it from their food truck and it now encourages me to try their other salads and wraps as well. The greens were fresh, chicken well cooked, sauces were perfect and yes that Jalapeño Ranch dressing was perfect!! Well done guys, keep up the great food, will keep trying your other salads and wraps too and will spread the word around!! ✌️

Wraps were the perfect size
Small drive up food stand with great quality salads/wraps. We got the wraps with sauces on the side along with sweet potato fries and really enjoyed everything. Wraps were the perfect size, honestly half of 1 was plenty filling. If this place was closer to where we loved we would come all the time. Highly reccomend!! Staff was super friendly and helpful.

2. Salata

Address: 510 Northwest Loop 410 Suite No. 105

Hours: Monday to Saturday 10:45 AM – 9:00 PM
Giving diners total physical control over every single ingredient, Salata abandons rigid menus in favor of massive customization.
You can browse dozens of fresh bases and toppings to make your custom bowl. We suggest pairing it with specialized organic beverages from their tap system.
The kitchen enforces strict allergen safety protocols, and they even offer a digital filtering tool to help you avoid problematic ingredients before you arrive.
Plus, I love that frequent visitors can take advantage of a dedicated application to earn loyalty points and streamlined ordering perks.
While customization is the main draw here, they also have convenient pre-assorted platters, perfect for busy professionals and large corporate lunches.
If you want to host an interactive group dining experience, their unique catering setup lets guests build their own plates on-site.
But securing those catering services requires a multi-hour advance notice, meaning immediate, same-day requests are routinely rejected.
Several types of lettuce and more toppings
Someone nice to have a fresh option but man…i was not prepared for how many options there were! Several types of lettuce and more toppings, proteins and dressings than you could possibly imagine.
Avacado was fresh, and loved the ginger lime dressing. Felt the housemate pita chips to be baked well but a little dry…so I would crumble them rather than eat them straight.
Regular salad is huge and with chicken, avocado, tax and tip…it was over $20 but it was delicious!

The variety of protein options was impressive
I stopped by Salata with a friend, and since it was my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the ordering process was. The variety of protein options was impressive—especially seeing salmon on the menu, which really caught me off guard. Despite all the tempting choices, I kept it simple and went with a chicken Caesar salad and a small tortilla soup. The food was delicious and the staff were wonderful! I’ll definitely be bringing my partner here for a post-workout date soon.

Hours: Monday to Friday 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Saturday 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Applying fine dining origins to casual meals, First Course Salad Kitchen preps every single dressing and rub completely from scratch. They also ensure peak flavor by continuously marinating and grilling proteins fresh throughout the day.
Their kitchen adheres to a strict daily execution schedule to guarantee absolute freshness across their mix-and-match greens and grains.
Diners here benefit from creative culinary standards typically reserved for upscale dining rooms, minus the pretentious environment. They even offer endless combinations for plant-based diets.
I grabbed lunch here last week after hitting some local bike trails in San Antonio, and the clean, modern atmosphere provided the perfect post-ride cooldown.
Just keep in mind that they intentionally downgraded their service format, meaning you won’t receive standard full-table attention. Their hot meat selection is also restricted to three standard types, so you won’t find options like shrimp or pork.
Very nice selection in the salad bar
This place was awesome. Very good choice. If you are trying to eat healthy, it had a large variety on the menu. Very nice selection in the salad bar. I got salmon on my salad as a choice of protein. It was my first time having salmon in a salad, but it was delicious. I would definitely eat there again.

Fork & Bowl American Bistro controls flavor quality through fresh kitchen production. They make all of their sauces and marinades from scratch and commit to using only fresh, never-frozen beef for their hot menu items.
They offer a highly cost-effective Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) policy and provide fully customized catering spreads alongside specialized sandwich platters for corporate teams.
Busy workers can also easily utilize their takeout convenience to grab a beautifully packaged meal on the run.
If you’re looking to dine in after spending the morning wandering through the nearby markets in San Antonio, though, this is a brilliant spot to unwind at an outdoor table. The relaxed evening atmosphere encourages guests to stay and chat for hours.
But you’ll need to wrap up those evening conversations fairly early because they shut their doors promptly at 7:00 PM. Weekend diners must also look elsewhere on Sundays when the entire facility closes down.
Menu was simple with plenty of healthy options
Came for lunch during the week and wasn’t crowded. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Menu was simple with plenty of healthy options from sandwiches, salads, protein dishes, and other handhelds.
Ordered the salmon and also a grilled chicken salad. Food was delivered to the table within 10 minutes. Staff stopped by several times to see how we liked the food and if needed anything else.

Cute little bistro. Not too busy but superb food! All staff was friendly and polite. And the BLTAC with grilled chicken was devine. Has a toasted croissant and it still melts in your mouth! Fresh Cesar salad was delicious too. Dog friendly too!! Will have to return soon.

5. Guillermo’s

Website: guillermosdowntown.com
Address: 618 McCullough Ave
Contact: (210) 223-5587 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday to Thursday 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM | Friday 11:30 AM – 10:00 PM | Saturday 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Distancing itself from fine-dining expectations, Guillermo’s cultivates a casual family atmosphere.
They serve a distinct house salad packed with tropical fruits and dual cheeses. Diners can even elevate their side dishes with proprietary vegetable seasonings or choose between two customized, scratch-made flavor profiles for their chicken.
I love that they maintain a strong digital accessibility commitment to ensure disabled users can navigate their online platform effortlessly. You can easily secure an online reservation, and their streamlined mobile ordering makes getting takeout incredibly fast.
The management team also excels at hosting versatile special events inside their well-equipped facility.
Just be prepared for a few strict portioning rules, as the kitchen refuses to provide their signature Split Salad in a half-tray catering size.
Customers attempting to book private off-site bar services will also face steep baseline setup fees before any drinks are poured.
Everything we purchased was fresh and delicious
He food was amazing! The tomato fettuccine was delicious and we loved their house salad. Everything we purchased was fresh and delicious. Bonus: they make their own fresh squeezed lemonade. Service was spectacular. Would highly recommend.
