The 5 Best Psychiatrists in San Antonio for Your Mental Health

best-psychiatrist-san-antonio
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Treatment Modalities: We assessed the variety and effectiveness of the clinical interventions offered by each practice. Clinics that provide diverse, evidence-based alternatives beyond standard medication management scored higher in our evaluation.

Accessibility and Scheduling: Securing an appointment should not be an added source of anxiety for patients. We prioritized practices offering extended hours and robust telehealth platforms to accommodate busy routines.

Specialized Expertise: Mental health is highly personal, requiring targeted knowledge for complex disorders. We highlighted providers who demonstrate deep competency in specific niches, such as pediatric care or targeted trauma recovery.

Patient Experience and Comfort: A welcoming, culturally competent environment is essential for building trust during psychiatric care.    We evaluated how each clinic accommodates diverse backgrounds and integrates holistic, compassionate approaches into its standard protocols.

I know how overwhelming it can feel to look for the best psychiatrist in San Antonio when you’re already dealing with anxiety, burnout, or a big life change.

Some people may only need help from local psychologists for talk therapy, while others need medication management or more specialized care.

To make the search easier, I focused on practices that stand out for scheduling flexibility, treatment range, and patient comfort. This guide highlights local psychiatry clinics that can help you build a care plan that actually fits your needs.

1. Cantera Psychiatry

cantera-psychiatry

Website: https://canterapsychiatry.com/

Address: 85 NE Loop 410 Suite 420

Contact: (210) 960-4352

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Dealing with severe, treatment-resistant depression can feel isolating, which is why finding a clinic with advanced options matters.

Cantera Psychiatry stands out for on-site Spravato and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

They blend traditional psychiatric care with holistic options like Reiki energy healing and Myofascial Release (MFR), which gives patients more than one path forward.

I recently spoke with a former patient who said the space felt genuinely inclusive, especially because of the clinic’s ties to the San Antonio Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and allied (LGBTQ+) Chamber of Commerce.

Their 7:30 AM start is also a real plus for working professionals. But note that they only operate Monday through Thursday, so Friday and weekend appointments are completely off the table.

Pros

  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved Spravato and TMS for resistant depression
  • Incorporates internal family systems and energy work
  • Opens early at 7:30 AM for working professionals
  • Targeted symptom relief via Theta Burst Stimulation

Cons

  • Strict Monday-through-Thursday operating hours

Customer Reviews

They truly feel inclusive compared to other practices.

I came here in desperate need of a new psychiatrist after finally calling quits with my old one. This place is a breath of fresh air. They truly feel inclusive compared to other practices that slap pride flags on everything in June. I’m still timid, but the atmosphere is warm. They want you being comfortable being you and will help you on that path.

They take their time listening and explaining treatments.

We have been searching for a psychiatrist my teen feels comfortable with for a very long time. We are very happy with the quality of care Dr Ansbro offers. The team make their patients feel very welcomed and comfortable. They take their time listening and explaining treatments.

2. TeleMind

telemind

Website: https://telemind.com/

Address: 6502 Bandera Rd Ste 200e

Contact: (800) 950-0026

Hours: Monday-Sunday, 6:00 AM – 12:00 AM

Managing mental health shouldn’t drain your savings, so TeleMind makes a lot of sense if insurance coverage is a major part of your decision.

They stay in-network with a wide range of providers, including Medicaid and most commercial Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans.

The platform is also built for virtual care, so getting diagnosed, treated, and prescribed medication from home feels straightforward. That can be especially helpful for people managing bipolar disorder, psychosis, or postpartum mental health concerns.

What stood out to me most is the continuity, since they guarantee you see the same clinician at every visit.

The catch is the cancellation policy. If you miss an appointment without 24 hours’ notice, you can expect an automatic charge to your card.

Pros

  • Accepts Medicare and Medicaid for wider accessibility
  • Guarantees seeing the same provider at every visit
  • Offers Spanish-speaking providers and translation services
  • Treats severe conditions like psychosis and postpartum disorders

Cons

  • Automatic no-show charges for missed appointments

Customer Reviews

Very personable, relatable and comforting.

After no longer having my former psychiatrist I went looking for another& came across TeleMind they were able to make me a new patient and appointment not even a week later. They are all so friendly and sweet and on top of everything. I love my psychiatrist Dr. Adrianne she’s so sweet very personable, relatable and comforting. I have bad social anxiety and hate meeting new people but she easily and effortlessly made me comfortable, seen, not judged and really cares.

I have nothing bad to say about this place.

Brian (AKA Mr. Awesome Brian) was amazing. I had a really great session with my Psychiatrist.  The follow up from Brian was next level.  He went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and set for my next appointment.  I have nothing bad to say about this place.

3. San Antonio Family Psychiatry

Address: 3152 Napier Park, Shavano Park

Contact: (210) 492-1666 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Finding one practice that can treat both adults and kids is a real relief for busy families. That’s where San Antonio Family Psychiatry stands out.

They evaluate and treat patients across the age spectrum, so you don’t have to juggle separate adult and pediatric clinics.

I was especially glad to see that they use Creyos cognitive testing to support more accurate Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments.

They also encourage lifestyle support like sleep hygiene and nutrition alongside medication management.

A fellow caregiver I know appreciated that the clinic posts its private-pay rates upfront, which helps avoid stressful surprises after an initial visit. But an evaluation with Dr. Mansoor runs $450, so uninsured patients may find that first step hard to manage.

Pros

  • Utilizes objective Creyos cognitive testing for accuracy
  • Openly publishes private pay rates online
  • Manages medication needs for both adults and children
  • Actively encourages lifestyle and nutrition interventions

Cons

  • High initial out-of-pocket barrier for uninsured patients

Customer Reviews

Highly recommended!

Dr.Mansoor and her staff have been great! I’ve been to other psychiatrist’s with varied experiences. Some great…some…horrible! It’s always a challenge finding someone who listens to what you’re struggling with, and who also has the knowledge and expertise to know what can help you. Dr. Mansoor fits that bill. I’ve been very happy with her, and her staff, and have no intentions of switching to anyone else! Highly recommend!

Definitely a great atmosphere.

I had issues finding a psychiatrist that was right for me, until I found San Antonio Family Psychiatry. I have had nothing but good experiences. Everyone has always been so nice, and it’s definitely a great atmosphere. Telehealth appointments are super easy and straightforward. I have also been given so many sources and materials to help me outside of the clinic. I highly recommend to anyone who is trying to find the perfect fit for them!

4. Serenity Mental Health Centers – San Antonio

serenity-mental-health-centers-san-antonio

Website: https://serenitymentalhealthcenters.com/

Address: 18615 Tuscany Stone Suite 250

Contact: (726) 202-2236

Hours: Monday-Wednesday, 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Thursday-Friday, 6:00 AM – 7:40 PM; Saturday, 6:40 AM – 7:00 PM

Juggling work, family, and mental health care can be tough, so Serenity Mental Health Centers stands out for sheer flexibility. They open as early as 6:00 AM, stay open late on weekdays, and even keep Saturday hours, which is rare for psychiatry practices.

I was also impressed by their telehealth access and ketamine infusion therapy for people who need more than a standard medication visit.

The clinic seems especially thoughtful for military personnel and first responders because it offers trauma-focused paths that reflect the pressures of those jobs.

It also appears well prepared for complex co-occurring conditions, which can make ongoing care feel more coordinated.

The tradeoff is that the intake process can feel a bit corporate. Because scheduling runs through a larger multi-state system, the first contact may feel less personal than in a smaller boutique practice.

Pros

  • Extremely flexible early morning and Saturday hours
  • Culturally competent trauma care for first responders
  • Provides rapid relief via Ketamine Infusion Therapy
  • Excels at managing complex co-occurring conditions

Cons

  • Initial scheduling process feels heavily corporatized

Does a fantastic job in truly listening to your concerns.

Amazing clinic, from the fast communication, friendly staff, and attentive psychiatrist. Dr. Norman does a fantastic job in truly listening to your concerns and doesn’t write off your problems prematurely, but rather does his due diligence in correctly diagnosing you and providing quality care. 5. Aura Psychiatry, PLLC

aura-psychiatry-pllc

Website: https://www.aurapsychiatry.com/

Address: 10127 Morocco Street

Contact: (469) 599-2872

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Navigating specific mental health conditions often requires care that goes beyond basic counselling services. That’s exactly where Aura Psychiatry feels different.

The practice focuses on clinical diagnosis and medication management for more complex concerns, including severe paranoia and eating disorders such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

I also value that they pair psychiatric care with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and teach practical Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills.

That combination can be helpful for people who want both symptom relief and tools they can actually use between appointments.

Another plus is the secure telepsychiatry platform, which doesn’t cost extra and makes follow-ups easier from home.

The downside is the schedule. They stick to standard weekday office hours, so working adults and students may need to rearrange work or class just to get seen.

Pros

  • Fills a vital clinical niche for eating disorder treatment
  • Offers EMDR therapy for trauma-focused brain healing
  • Seamless and discreet telehealth platform options
  • Teaches tangible Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills

Cons

  • Operates on a standard Monday-through-Friday schedule
