We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Location and Accessibility: I looked at how close each property sits to big draws like the River Walk and the theme parks. Easy airport access and convenient parking pushed a hotel up my list.

Amenities and Comfort: I also wanted a comfortable bed and solid room features for recovering after a busy day. Great on-site dining and a relaxing pool counted in a property's favor.

Value and Pricing: I weighed value against price, since travel budgets vary so much. Fair nightly rates paired with a good guest experience earned the most points.

Reputation and History: I leaned on reputation and any historic charm a building brings. Consistent praise for cleanliness and friendly service sealed a spot on my list.

Planning a trip to the Alamo City means looking forward to Tex-Mex favorites, historic landmarks, and sunny walks along the River Walk. Where you stay can have just as much impact on the trip as the attractions themselves.

After a full day of exploring the missions, museums, or theme parks, having a comfortable hotel makes it easier to relax and recharge for the next adventure. The best hotels combine convenient locations with the amenities that make travel feel effortless.

For travelers planning a more detailed itinerary, local travel agencies can also help coordinate accommodations and activities.

To make the search easier, I reviewed some of the top places to stay. Here are the best hotels in San Antonio for your next Texas getaway.

1. Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites San Antonio SeaWorld/Westover Hills

Hours: Available 24/7

Families planning a theme park trip will appreciate a stay that keeps the day simple. Fairfield by Marriott fits that need well, since it’s smoke-free, close to the marine parks, and includes daily breakfast.

That location helps when you’re traveling with kids because less time in traffic means more time for rides.

On a recent trip with my nephews, that convenience made the mornings feel a lot easier. We could eat first, pack a few snacks from the room, and still get out the door without rushing.

The outdoor pool was a nice bonus after a long day, especially when the kids still had energy to burn. The rooms also come with mini-fridges and microwaves, which help with leftovers or quick snacks.

The downside is the paid parking, so it’s worth adding that cost when you compare nightly rates.

Pros

  • Rooms equipped with microwaves and mini-fridges
  • Free wireless internet access
  • Outdoor pool and fitness center available
  • Complimentary hot breakfast buffet provided

Cons

  • Paid parking adds extra costs

Convenient location

Coming to this hotel was a last minute decision due to a need at the nearby hospital, and it was a great decision. Again, the location next to the medical centers, as well as Sea World, was essential. Rooms are well furnished and clean. What made the stay great was the receptionist, Leslie. She was exceptionally courteous, professional, and accommodating. She had everything in order upon arrival. Will definitely stay here again if the need arises.

Enjoyable stay

We stayed at the hotel for one night.  Our stay was enjoyable, room was clean and nice.  Staff was very friendly, especially Christian who went “the extra mile”.  Thanks again, we will return.   E Torrez

2. La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham San Antonio Airport

Hours: Available 24/7

Frequent flyers need a stay that makes getting around feel simple. La Quinta helps with that by sitting close to the airport, with quick access to major interstates and free local transportation.

That setup is useful when you’re catching an early flight, arriving late, or trying to avoid extra travel stress.

If you booked a complex itinerary through one of the local travel agencies in San Antonio, reaching your room fast is a real relief.

The hotel allows pets in designated rooms, which is great for travelers bringing a companion along.

You can unwind in the hot tub or get a solid workout at the fitness center. A complimentary daily breakfast with hot items rounds things out.

The main drawback is that the free shuttle stops running at 10:30 PM. As a result, late-night arrivals lose a key transit option.

Even so, the location and amenities deliver great value for daytime flyers.

Pros

  • Complimentary daily hot breakfast
  • Outdoor pool and hot tub access
  • Pets allowed in designated rooms
  • Free local and airport shuttle

Cons

  • Limited options for late-night arrivals

Best first time experience

Overall best first time experience in a Quinta. Had never been before this! Was greeted off the bat with a smile and acknowledgment! Rooms were well kept even though the wear and tear of all places that are used for that purpose have aspect issues. Cleanliness and tidiness was good. Staff was excellent and building gives a nice view. If the standard is met nationwide I’ll be looking forward to staying more in a Quinta!

Highly recommend

Alex on the night shift was amazing.  He made checking in smooth and easy.  Worked with us on our late check out.  I highly recommend this hotel. Very clean and smelled great.  Come say to Alex! You’ll be glad you did.

Studio Suites makes temporary housing feel less overwhelming for people relocating for work.

Since the units are fully furnished and utilities are included in the rate, guests can settle in without handling too many setup details. That makes the stay easier to manage during a busy transition.

The flexible week-to-week setup lets you move in without locking into a long lease. The premises feel secure too, with on-site security staff and camera coverage for peace of mind.

Bundling electricity and high-speed internet into one rate makes budgeting a lot simpler. They offer guest laundry, though you might check out laundry services in San Antonio if you’d rather have professional attire dry-cleaned.

One thing to note is that the property is built around weekly arrangements. For that reason, it leans toward longer visits rather than a quick one-night weekend stop.

Pros

  • Flexible week-to-week stay options
  • All utilities included in pricing
  • Secure premises with camera surveillance
  • On-site convenience store and laundry

Cons

  • Better suited to longer visits than overnight trips

Excellent choice

Whether you are staying for one night or two weeks, this is an excellent choice. It offers way more value than a standard hotel room. I’ll definitely be looking to stay here again on my next trip!

Great host and prices

What was going to be a short stay turned out to be home for a while. During my stay I had great service for all my room and parking needs. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.  I recommend when you need good shelter and rest stop by and see for your self. Oh and the best are the friendly hosts as well as the great prices. 👍

4. Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk

Staying right on the water makes it easier to enjoy the city without overplanning the day. The Drury Plaza fits that kind of trip well, since it sits in a renovated 24-story building directly on the river.

That historic setting gives the stay a little more character. The lobby still shows off preserved 1920s details, including the original chandeliers, so the place doesn’t feel like a plain chain hotel.

I also struck up a chat with a traveler in the elevator who couldn’t stop talking about the heated rooftop pool on the 22nd floor.

The free hot breakfast and evening reception add even more value, especially if you’re traveling with family. Suites also come with a microwave and refrigerator for easy snacks.

The main frustration is parking. Only one vehicle is allowed per room, and oversized vehicles won’t fit in the garage.

Pros

  • Free hot breakfast and evening reception
  • 22nd-floor heated outdoor rooftop pool
  • In-room microwave and refrigerator
  • Preserved 1920s architectural details

Cons

  • Strict limit of one vehicle per room

Everybody was friendly and helpful

This hotel is one of the best I’ve ever stayed at. From the valet team, to front desk, servers, and housekeepers everybody was friendly and helpful. There’s one woman I want to specifically shoutout to. Keara from valet is amazing. For her, no task is too big or too small. We always seen her running back and forth to wherever she was going. I applaud her for her constant communication with her team while many families were checking it. Getting unloaded was much smoother than I thought. Kudos to her.

Definitely recommend

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! I’ve traveled a little bit, both here in the US and abroad and I have to honestly say that this is one of nicest and well-managed hotels that I have ever stayed at. The entire staff is very friendly and accommodating, almost like they’re anticipating guests needs and go the extra mile in making you feel welcome and valued as a guest, all at a reasonable price, making this a great value! I would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

5. The Crockett Hotel

Address: 320 Bonham St

Contact: 800 292 1050 | [email protected]

Hours: Available 24/7

History buffs looking for a more immersive downtown stay will find a lot to enjoy here. The Crockett Hotel sits beside a state monument, so the location already gives the trip a stronger sense of place.

That historic feel carries into the building itself. As a member of Historic Hotels of America, it keeps plenty of classic charm while still offering updated comforts across its 138 non-smoking rooms.

Guests can stop by the on-site coffee bar in the morning, then head to the tavern later without leaving the property.

For slower vacation days, the outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi add easy comfort. Flexible perks like early check-in and late check-out can also make the schedule feel less rushed.

The catch is that room layouts vary across the building, so your room may not look exactly like the photos online.

Even so, the location and character make it a memorable downtown base.

Pros

  • Member of Historic Hotels of America
  • On-site coffee bar and tavern
  • Access to outdoor swimming pool
  • Flexible early check-in scheduling

Cons

  • Booked room may differ from online photos

Conveniently located

What a great place right in the middle of downtown.  The staff was friendly, the bar is great with live music, and it’s a great place for walking all over San Antonio and the river walk.  I highly recommend using the valet.  It’s worth the extra cash to have in and out privelidges and is very convenient.

Downtown location

For the money, you cannot beat the Crockett. It is right across from the Alamo, a block away from the riverwalk, and in the heart of downtown. Excellent service staff, also. The rooms are a bit dated but if you’re looking for a comfortable, affordable weekend stay with some nice amenities, this is the place.
