We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Range of Services: We looked for clinics that provide comprehensive treatments for various eye conditions. This ensures that patients can receive care for everything from routine exams to complex surgeries in one place.
  •
  • Accessibility and Convenience: We considered the physical location and operating hours of each practice. Clinics with multiple branches or extended schedules offer greater flexibility for busy individuals and families.
  •
  • Patient Comfort: We evaluated the atmosphere and customer service at each facility. A welcoming environment with attentive staff helps reduce the anxiety often associated with medical appointments.
  •
  • Specialized Technology: We checked if the doctors utilize advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment. Modern technology allows for more precise treatments and better outcomes for complex vision issues.
  •
  • Overall Value: We weighed the cost of services against the quality of care provided. Transparent pricing and the availability of financing options make necessary eye treatments more accessible to the community.

Access to specialized medical care shouldn’t require long commutes or multiple referrals.

Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio has been a trusted medical staple since 1970, operating several satellite clinics across South Central Texas to bring high-quality surgical eye care to local communities.

Their extensive, in-house team of board-certified specialists means you can get comprehensive treatment for glaucoma, cornea, and retina issues within the same network.

Getting hands-on clinical assessments is incredibly easy here. They have state-of-the-art diagnostic testing rooms right on site, saving you the hassle of visiting outside facilities.

They even maintain exceptionally long operating hours until 8:00 PM on weekdays. This is a massive help for patients juggling traditional daytime jobs.

However, visiting their main downtown office can sometimes be stressful. Frequent roadwork, ongoing street closures, and heavy traffic near the I-35 Brooklyn exit can make the drive frustrating.

Pros

  • Multiple convenient satellite locations
  • Extensive in-house specialist team
  • Extended weekday evening hours
  • On-site diagnostic testing

Cons

  • Downtown office traffic is stressful

Tiffany , MA checked me in and did my follow up history. She was very pleasant and professional during this encounter. Dr. Salazar fixed my eye issues (allergic reactions) on the 1st visit. Issues I have struggled with for 10 years. He is knowledgeable, professional and prompt.  Really impressed with him. My husband will be seeing him too.

My parents and I have received excellent and reassuring care from Drs. Campagna, Clark and Green. All staff treat you respectfully. The award-winning doctors offer  extensive skill and experience with patient kindness that results in positive outcomes for difficult eye conditions.

Exploring surgical vision correction can feel intimidating, especially when you factor in the initial consultation fees.

San Antonio Eye Specialists changes that by offering complimentary, detailed in-office consultations for life-changing procedures like LASIK, PRK, and EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens).

Led by a highly specialized refractive surgeon, this clinic provides custom treatments using advanced laser and mapping technology located right inside the office.

When I visited them for my own consultation, the front desk staff was incredibly efficient, ensuring I barely spent any time waiting in the lobby. Their location right off North Loop 1604 is also highly accessible, featuring plenty of parking for northern city residents.

After an eye exam, some people even like to relax by checking out aesthetic clinics in San Antonio nearby.

Just keep in mind that their doors are strictly closed on weekends. This schedule can complicate things for patients needing Saturday follow-up appointments.

Pros

  • Complimentary surgical consultations
  • Advanced in-office laser technology
  • Very fast front desk check-in
  • Accessible North Loop location

Cons

  • Closed entirely on weekends

Customer Review

I had a great experience with my eye surgery from start to finish. The doctor was knowledgeable, patient, and made me feel completely at ease. The staff was friendly and professional, and everything was explained clearly. The surgery went smoothly and my results have been amazing. I’m so grateful and would highly recommend San Antonio Eye Specialist to anyone considering eye surgery.

Dr. Iskander and the entire staff are very kind and supportive through the entire process, from consultation to post op appointments. I had the Evo ICL in both eyes and they did an amazing job keeping me calm and communicating during the surgery process. If you are considering corrective surgery, I highly recommend you take the time to consider the SA eye specialists.

Medical appointments often feel sterile and rushed, but a welcoming atmosphere makes a huge difference.

Stone Oak Ophthalmology Center operates as a boutique-style vision hub, pairing specialized medical treatments with an extraordinarily comfortable reception area.

Patients can relax in a luxurious lounge with complimentary coffee and reading materials, which really helps ease any pre-appointment nerves.

  • Central Stone Oak location
  • Strong in-office diagnostic tools

Cons

Customer Review

The staff at Stone Oak Opthomology are friendly & accommodating. Dr. Allison Young has been my opthomologist for over 10 years. She has performed numerous routine eye exams and performed cataract surgery for me about 6 years ago. She always takes care to address my questions  and concerns with patience & kindness. Thank you Dr.  Young & Stone Oak Opthomology for taking the best care of my vision! ❤️

Dr. Young has saved my left eye twice, and is absolutely amazing at what she does. Incredible competence coupled with genuine care and empathy. Wonderful doctor and person. I have also seen Dr. Waters, who is also fantastic, and equally charismatic. I have referred them both to many of my friends, and count them as some of the best weapons in my arsenal to beat old age. The practice is chock full of other caring individuals who work hard to make sure your visit is effective and efficient.

Finding a clinic with a proven history of innovation gives you peace of mind during complex procedures. South Texas Eye Institute carries an impressive legacy as the very first clinic in San Antonio to perform LASIK.

They even received the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for their highly ethical, in-person patient care and operations.

They maintain two distinct, fully equipped clinics to ensure equitable access across different parts of the city. Their facilities house dedicated diagnostic rooms designed specifically for intensive dry eye and ocular surface disease management.

While waiting for your eyes to dilate, you might even find yourself chatting with other patients about the best places to get massages in San Antonio. That’s how comfortable the clinic is.

Unfortunately, their stellar reputation means they face high patient demand. The primary Medical Center location often has crowded waiting areas and limited seating during peak afternoon hours.

Pros

  • Pioneered LASIK in the area
  • Award-winning ethical patient care
  • Dedicated dry eye diagnostic rooms
  • Two fully equipped city locations

Cons

  • Waiting rooms get very crowded
  • Limited seating during peak hours

Customer Review

I went in for cataract surgery and had an excellent experience.  Dr Marten did an excellent job and it was over fast.  Dr Leon did an excellent job making sure I was OK and she is very friendly.  I recommend South Texas Eye Institute for all Eye ailments.

They have helped me enormously and my experience has been fantastic. I like the new doctor Leon too. It is real close to home. Dr. Marten always takes time to listen to me which I like. She performed my cataract surgery and I went from seeing  20/150 to 20/40 in one eye. The front desk is super nice and welcomes me the minute I open the door.

Customer Review

Went for left eye cataract surgery on Thursday Feb 5th. From the time I arrived until I was wheeled to my car the service and experience was exceptional. The nurses answered all my questions, the anesthesia physician was knowledgeable about my condition and was able to formulate a plan that worked beautifully for my quick recovery to go home. The physician was excellent and I would highly recommend this facility to everyone!  Ready for next Thursday and the right eye!

I kept putting off having eye surgery but my husband convinced me to have surgery here since he had it. I am so glad that I decided to come in. Dr. Parker and the staff of Parkhurst Nuvision did an amazing job. I am pleased with my vision and can’t wait to see how it is after I’ve fully adjusted.
