Top 5 Computer Stores in San Antonio You Can Rely on for All Your Tech Needs

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Technical Expertise: A shop is only as good as the knowledge of the people behind the counter. We looked for stores where the staff can accurately diagnose problems and recommend appropriate hardware without resorting to confusing terminology.

Product Availability: Waiting weeks for a simple cable or a standard power supply defeats the purpose of shopping locally. We prioritized locations that maintain well-stocked inventories of both basic accessories and specialized components.

Pricing Transparency: Nobody likes hidden fees popping up after dropping off a machine for a diagnostic check. We focused on businesses that provide clear upfront estimates and offer reasonable rates compared to national online retailers.

Service Range: Modern tech needs often go beyond simply buying a pre-built desktop off the shelf. We evaluated shops based on their ability to offer comprehensive support, including custom builds and specialized network setups.

Finding reliable tech hardware can be a massive headache. One minute you’re in the zone, and the next, your desktop is dead. In the end, you’re left hunting for local support that feels as urgent as an emergency appliance repair

If you’re building a high-performance gaming rig, setting up a secure office network, or just need solid web hosting, having a knowledgeable shop nearby is a game-changer.

Lucky for you, I’ve spent time exploring San Antonio’s tech scene to find the best computer stores where you’ll actually get straight answers and quality gear. If you’re ready to stop guessing and start building, read on!

How much should you expect to spend on a computer in San Antonio?

Computer prices in San Antonio vary widely, with entry-level laptops going for around $250, while custom-built desktops or high-end MacBooks easily climb past $1,500.

 a good selection

Very knowledgeable staff, and they have a good selection of what to choose for audio, visual, computer electronics needs. I needed an adapter connector for my monitor HDMI cable to Display Port on my computer. I asked the salesman for advice and he showed me the adapter but recommended a better solution which is a DisplayPort to HDMI cable because it offers better performance.

Supporting a family-owned business usually means getting personalized service that big chains simply cannot match.

AllGen Computers has served the local area since 1993, functioning as a comprehensive hub for custom workstation builds and detailed IT solutions.

From what I’ve seen, they do an excellent job tailoring custom personal computers to specific user needs while emphasizing cost-effective options.

In particular, you can rely on them for both new and pre-owned components, as well as convenient recycling services for your obsolete hardware.

Despite their strong reputation, some visitors have reported that their repair services can be more expensive than anticipated.

Additionally, a few shoppers noted that the customer service experience can vary depending on which staff member is working the counter that day.

Pros

  • Established local reputation
  • Wide new and used inventory
  • Tailored custom PC builds
  • Convenient hardware recycling

Cons

  • Repair pricing feels expensive
  • Inconsistent staff interactions
  • Varying technical expertise

I really like this place. Ever since they close to Goodwill computer store down I’ve been forced to locate other places to get pieces for my computer. Bill at Allgen gives you the attention you need for excellent Customer Service.

Finding a shop that truly understands performance hardware requires looking beyond your basic office supply chains. Luckily, Xgamerpc is here.

This store specializes in designing optimal gaming computers and high-performance setups while working within realistic customer budgets. You can also expect specialized enthusiast hardware here, including simulation racing gear and high-end monitors.

I spoke with a colleague who recently bought a flight simulation rig from them, and he was highly impressed by their hands-on troubleshooting support.

Just a heads-up: Because they focus so heavily on gaming and enthusiast setups, this location is not ideal for someone looking for a basic office laptop.

Furthermore, their warranty coverage excludes software-related issues, such as viruses, so you might have to pay extra for standard technical support.

Pros

  • Highly specialized gaming focus
  • Fully upgradeable custom builds
  • Wide selection of enthusiast gear
  • Budget-conscious system designs

Cons

  • Not suited for general computers
  • Limited warranty on software issues

Address: 2321 S.W. Military Drive

Contact: (210) 922-1178

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–7:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Sometimes you need a single destination where you can pick up a new laptop and furnish your entire workspace simultaneously.

Office Depot operates as a massive retail hub, offering tech accessories and comprehensive diagnostic repair services all under one roof.

What I like most is their 24/7 remote support from certified technicians, which is highly beneficial for busy professionals. Plus, their large national presence ensures you get standardized service and a massive inventory.

The major downside to dealing with a large retailer is that in-store staff are not always proactive about assisting you on the floor.

Additionally, gaining access to their ongoing tech support plans typically requires committing to a rigid 12-month contract rather than a flexible monthly option.

Pros

  • Comprehensive in-store tech repair
  • Convenient on-site support options
  • 24/7 remote technical assistance
  • Massive selection of office goods

Cons

  • Inconsistent staff responsiveness
  • Requires 12-month service contracts

The staff does a tremendous job

People complaining about not receiving help are people who are choosing self serve equipment, they choose to step out of line and then seek assistance which is a huge inconvenience for me and other who choose to patiently wait. The staff does a tremendous job in doing what they can and they are by far the best I have ever seen. I recommend this store !!!! Look for Gilbert Monique and Brittany

The store had a great atmosphere

Got help right away and the workers were very friendly and polite. The store had a great atmosphere and the employees looked like they like working there and were all friends with each other. What i wanted was sold out during Christmas season but they ordered me one online right away with free delivery

Website: https://localcomputer.expert/

Address: 10207 I-35

Contact: (210) 241-2054

Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM

Buying pre-owned hardware can feel risky, but finding a shop like Steve’s Computers changes the equation!

For starters, they have rigorous testing standards and high-performance refurbished laptops and desktops at competitive prices. They even back their comprehensive repair work with a solid one-year warranty.

I also like their structured diagnostic system for identifying hardware failures, which presents clear repair solutions before touching your machine. This strict consent-based pricing approach means you’ll never pay for services you didn’t explicitly approve.

On the downside, because they operate as a smaller independent shop, their on-hand retail inventory is noticeably more limited than that of big-box national chains.

Regardless, their fast turnaround times and optional rush services make them a highly reliable choice for urgent computer repairs.

Pros

  • High-quality refurbished inventory
  • Fast repair turnaround times
  • Full 1-year repair warranty
  • Transparent approval-based pricing

Cons

  • Limited retail product selection
  • Smaller storefront space

After attempting to build my first gaming pc I ran into issues and could not the pc to post. I took my computer to him and he worked around his normal schedule to help get my dream pc running. He discovered that my motherboard was bad and even drove me to a nearby computer store to buy a replacement. He went above and beyond to help me.
