The 5 Best Dumplings in San Antonio That Are Juicy, Hot, and Perfect

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Flavor and Authenticity: We prioritized spots that deliver rich, traditional flavors without resorting to generic shortcuts. Restaurants needed to show a real dedication to culinary heritage to make the cut.

Wrapper Texture: A great dumpling lives or dies by its dough, so we focused on the perfect balance of chew and tenderness. We actively avoided places serving overly thick, gummy, or easily torn wrappers.

Menu Variety: We looked for establishments offering a satisfying range of cooking styles and creative fillings. Finding both classic pork and innovative flavor profiles ensured a menu that appeals to everyone.

Value for Money: Dining out should feel rewarding, so we weighed portion sizes against the final bill. We wanted to guarantee you get generously filled plates without emptying your wallet.

Finding genuinely fresh, never-frozen dumplings is tough, but Luscious Dumplings absolutely nails it.

They work from a handcrafted family recipe and prepare everything from scratch each morning. The level of consistency has even earned them a Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction for multiple years.

We visited on a busy Tuesday afternoon to try their blue crab and pork soup dumplings, and the experience was really good. The wrappers were delicate, and each dumpling held a rich, savory broth that felt carefully balanced rather than heavy.

Portions are generous and clearly designed for sharing, which makes it easy to try a wider range of dishes with friends while still focusing on quality in every bite.

Just keep in mind that their soaring popularity means wait times often stretch out during peak lunch hours.

The limited seating also forces you to plan ahead if you want to sit down and enjoy the meal comfortably.

  • Freshly crafted daily

  • Rich blue crab fillings

Popular Items

It was SO good…my goodness, I left so stuffed from all the food. I had their thumb pan-fried pork dumplings and an angus beef chunk noodle bowl, and both of them were delicious. The service was great…it was my first time there and the servers took the time to give their suggestions and shared popular items. I will absolutely be coming back!

Service Was Top Tier

This is a beautiful restaurant. The service was top tier! The food was pretty good the drinks were outstanding. Had the dumplings were tasty and moist. The triple delight lo mein was pretty good. But the yogurt drink was the star of the show! This place is a MUST! Thank you to our server for honest and knowledgeable recommendations.

Grabbing a quick, satisfying lunch should never cost a fortune. Noodles and Dumplings wins diners over with a wallet-friendly menu packed with freshly hand-pulled noodles and incredibly colorful combo dumplings.

They offer massive portion sizes that deliver exceptional value for anyone craving soft bao or savory pork scallion potstickers.

We like how easy it is to mix and match here. A big bowl of noodles pairs naturally with potstickers or soft bao, and the variety makes it simple to build a filling meal without overthinking the order.

The service style is fast and counter-based, which works well for busy days when takeout or a quick bite is the priority.

The only real downside is the physical space itself. Their dining area feels quite small and utilitarian, making it less than ideal for a relaxed, upscale dinner date.

Pros

  • Wallet-friendly pricing
  • Freshly hand-pulled noodles
  • Massive portion sizes
  • Speedy counter service

Cons

  • Small dining area
  • Utilitarian atmosphere

Mouth Watering

We ordered so much food and everything was good. Salt and Pepper shrimp, Rainbow dumplings, the purple and original, mouth watering,  pork boas were interesting but good, LanZhou soup with chicken, great flavor, fried rice was had a ton of flavor, the steamed pork dumpling were also flavorful and a great appetizer. The portion sizes were larger than expected giving more bang for your buck. Service was quick and our server was attentive and polite. This place is a must try.

Absolutely Delicious Food

Absolutely delicious food! It was really cool seeing them make the dumplings homemade through the glass. Only downside for us was the additional room had a feel of a dennys. A little odd just kinda wish it felt more authentic by the vibe but even then we didn’t even care because the food was outstanding.

Still, many diners find the roast duck and overall execution worth the occasional splurge.

Flavored Well

This place was delicious! Some of the best Peking Duck and soup dumplings ever! The roasted duck was juicy, crispy, and flavored well. Highly recommend ordering party-style and eating with a group. Service was excellent as well, helping us with our friend’s birthday cake and accommodating the table! Will definitely come back and try more items!

Warm and Friendly

Everyone here is super warm and friendly — such a welcoming dining atmosphere! I came today especially for the new black truffle xiao long bao and it was AMAZING. The broth inside is so rich and flavorful, and the truffle aroma is incredible.

The pan-fried pork soup buns and stir-fried green beans are as delicious as always. We also tried the pork & scallion dumplings and the shrimp, pork & chive dumplings — both were really tasty🤭✨

Highly recommend! Will definitely come back again!

4. Momo House San Antonio (Nepali Style Dumplings)

Address: 4447 De Zavala Rd, San Antonio, TX 78249, United States

Hours: Tuesday – Thursday, Sunday: 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM, Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Closed Monday

Momo House specializes in authentic Nepali dumplings, stepping away from traditional Chinese-style dumplings.

Their menu highlights include jhol momos, where soft dumplings are served in a rich, aromatic broth that coats every bite. They also feature unique fillings like bison that bring a deeper regional character to the food.

We like how intentional the flavors feel. The spice blends are layered rather than overwhelming, and everything is designed to highlight Nepali cooking traditions in a focused, thoughtful way.

Even simple items, like deep-fried street-style momos, stand out thanks to their crunch and the house-made tomato dipping sauce.

They even sell convenient frozen momo bags so you can easily steam these treats at home.

The main drawback is their somewhat restrictive operating schedule. They close their doors at 7:00 PM most evenings, which completely rules out any late-night dinner runs.

Pros

  • Authentic Nepali spices
  • Specialty jhol momo broth
  • Unique bison meat fillings
  • Convenient frozen bags available

Cons

  • Early evening closure
  • No late-night dining

Highly Recommend

Awesome dumplings hidden inside an unassuming gas station/convenience store! I don’t have a lot of experience with Nepalese dumplings in particular, however we really enjoyed our food. It was a cool combination of flavors that was outside what you see everywhere else. I highly recommend the spicy Momo with pork. They also had a very interesting bison option. We ended up eating on the trunk of my car in the shade outside. Highly recommend this hole in the wall gem.

Very Unique Flavor

If you like dumplings this place is where to get them, I had the bison chilly momo and it was amazing, very unique flavor, just be prepared to go into a gas station environment, they have one bench type table you can sit at or you can get it to go.

Mian Noodles and Dumplings thrives on a concise menu built around homemade Lanzhou-style noodles and freshly boiled chive-and-pork dumplings.

When we dined here, we immediately noticed the chewy texture of their noodles, alongside the carefully prepared dumpling fillings.

Customers also constantly rave about how their refreshing cold noodle dishes provide the perfect contrast to a steaming basket of warm dumplings.

The incredibly friendly, attentive staff also goes out of their way to make every single guest feel right at home.

It’s just a bummer that they’re closed on Mondays. If you crave their signature chive-and-pork pockets early in the week, you will have to wait until Tuesday.

Pros

  • Authentic Lanzhou-style noodles
  • Highly focused specialty menu
  • Friendly and welcoming staff
  • Refreshing cold noodle pairings

Cons

  • Completely closed on Mondays

Asian Food

This restaurant deserves a 100/100. The food is made fresh to order; the noodles are made right then and there, and the dumplings are made instantly by the ladies. I love Asian food and the people. Excellent restaurant.

Pleasant Surprise

We ordered the pig ears, multi-spiced beef, broiled pork dumplings, and beef noodle soup and everything was fantastic! The dumplings were incredibly juicy with perfectly textured wrappers: chewy, and not too thick. The pig ears were seasoned just right. It was spicy, fresh, and loaded with cilantro with an amazing texture. What a pleasant surprise to discover this place on Thanksgiving while visiting from Austin. Highly recommended!
