Miyabi Asian Fusion excels at creating this boutique atmosphere while offering a diverse fusion menu of fresh sushi and savory traditional Japanese dishes.
They clearly focus on handmade culinary elements, like their delicate dumplings, rather than relying on pre-made shortcuts. This dedication translates into vibrant, memorable flavors.
I recently ordered their signature ramen, and the slow-simmered broth tasted incredibly rich. As a bonus, their knowledgeable table service ensures you pick the perfect dish for your palate.
While the food satisfies intense cravings, catching them for a quick bite requires some planning. The kitchen remains completely closed on Tuesdays, which disrupts mid-week lunch routines.
They also delay their weekend opening until noon, leaving early lunch seekers waiting hungry.
Today was my first time trying M.A.F. I had it in my “to try” list for a couple weeks and I’m glad I decided finally go. The happy hour menu has a great selections of drinks, appetizers, and sushi. The place itself is great but the food was amazing! Service 10/10. I’m happy to find a great place like this. Definitely recommend it👌🏻

Pound for pound, the best Sushi restaurant in San Antonio. Amazing sushi, paired with family friendly service and unbeatable prices. Their lunch specials are out of this world good. The Sushi Lunch “A” has an 8 piece California Roll AND 5 pieces of assorted nigiri with a house salad… for $14.95! We are always welcomed with a smile by our server Sylvia who already knows our favorites. Wonderful place!

2. Tong’s Thai Restaurant

Website: https://www.tongsthai.com/
Address: 1146 Austin Hwy
Contact: 210-829-7345
Hours: Mon – Sun: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
When craving a seamless mix of authentic Thai and Chinese recipes, diners are often led straight to the Austin Highway corridor. Tong’s Thai Restaurant specifically caters to this desire by offering an extensive menu filled with cross-cultural flavors.
You’ll find signature, award-winning seafood items like their deeply flavorful Haw-Mok drawing regular crowds. They also lean heavily into dedicated gluten-free branding, making their dining room highly accommodating for sensitive diets.
Plus, their claim as the original home of the bubble tea trend in the city adds a fun historical element to the beverage menu.
One downside is the unpredictable pricing on premium seafood dishes, which only displays a market price. Navigating these hidden costs can cause slight hesitation when ordering their otherwise fantastic snow crab claws.
Additionally, relying on third-party ordering apps introduces unexpected service fees.
My husband and I went the other day for dinner and mmm mmm mmmm…let me tell you!!! I’ve been looking for The perfect Lemon Chicken and this place is the only place I’ve been to that exceeded my expectations!! Many places try- many places fall!! I been doing lemon chicken over 20 years… this place killed it. While there, 4 other tables ordered it!!! My husband got Combo Fried Rice which was delicious!! The atmosphere and employees were fabulous!! Will definitely be returning… everything looks so good… PUT WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING DOWN AND GO GIVE THEM A TRY!!

Was visiting from out of town and tried this place for lunch. It was really good, with large portions, lots of flavor, and friendly, prompt staff. My only complaint is that I forgot I was in Texas, so when I asked for “spicy Pad Thai,” they didn’t disappoint. Thankfully, the waiter kept my water full.

3. The Golden Goose

Website: http://www.ggsatx.com/
Address: 100 N Santa Rosa, Suite 140
Contact: 726-206-1627
Hours: Sun – Thu: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM, Fri – Sat: 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM
The Golden Goose elevates traditional comfort foods by utilizing premium proteins. When I went here, I first ordered the deboned, Yuringi-style Korean fried chicken glazed in a savory house sauce.
Then I had the hearty, in-house-baked Magpie milk bread, paired with green tea-steamed purple rice. My whole experience felt like a highly textured dining event.
Many guests stop by here while scouting nearby downtown wedding venues, appreciating the upscale yet approachable atmosphere.
But despite the creative menu, certain limitations exist for takeout enthusiasts. Value-driven items and specific specials remain restricted solely to dine-in guests, leaving carryout customers with fewer budget-friendly choices.
Their enticing house-made condiments also typically incur extra upcharges rather than arriving complimentary with the meal.
Enjoyed a dinner out on the patio tables. Order/pay at a tablet kiosk, grab your table number and choose a table. Inside and outside seating. They bring your food and drinks to you. Beef bulgogi was filling and tasty. Radish kimchi crunchy and refreshing. My lemonade soju was just right. I will be back. #travelingforwork

Bulgogi, curry, salad with homemade dressing, and Nashville hot Korean style were all magnificent. I had to go back 2 days in a row because of that bulgogi. Excellent service and beer and liqueur pairings were on point. Thank you for an incredible experience! Well done. Oh and the decor rocks

4. Thai Dee Restaurant

Website: https://thaideetx.smiledining.com/?2025053001
Address: 5307 Blanco Rd
Contact: 210-342-3622
Hours: Sun – Tue, Thu: 11:00 AM – 7:50 PM, Wed: Closed, Fri – Sat: 11:00 AM – 8:50 PM
Thai Dee Restaurant operates with a charming family-owned approach, serving original traditional recipes that clearly separate them from standardized chains.
Their dedicated kitchen staff strictly follows a personalized cooking philosophy, ensuring every plate feels thoughtfully prepared. They also frequently source fresh ingredients from local markets to maintain vibrant flavors across their vast menu.
My colleague raves about their free BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage) policy, noting how it perfectly complements their rich curries.
However, relying on this cozy establishment for late-night cravings proves difficult due to their early evening closures. They wrap up service before eight o’clock on most weeknights, severely limiting dinner flexibility.
Frequent unannounced temporary closures for family matters can also complicate your dining plans.
We had a wonderful experience at this Thai restaurant! We ordered the Pad Thai, Shrimp Rolls, and the Combination Fried Rice — everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the portion sizes were perfect. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy our meal. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and we were pleasantly surprised when the owner personally came over to ask for our feedback. It really showed how much they care about their customers. Highly recommend this place — we’ll definitely be coming back!

You know you’re at the right place when you enter. Beautifully decorated in bamboo pices throughout the restaurant. The server and owner were extremely friendly. We started off with a Thai tea. Which was Texas size. Then we orders pad Thai one with chicken and the other with beef. My only complaint is the beef could be better quality. Packed with flavor. The portion size was plenty, leaving us with leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We’ll be back.

5. Soups & Rolls Restaurant

Website: https://www.soupsandrolls.com/
Address: 2530 Ruiz St
Contact: 210-276-0112
Hours: Mon – Sat: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Sun: Closed
Soups & Rolls Restaurant specializes in a hearty Vietnamese and Chinese fusion, giving guests an impressive array of slow-simmered classic soups and savory lo mein.
Their culinary team diligently prepares handmade meals using fresh ingredients to extract intensely bold flavors.
I love that they maintain a welcoming, home-style service approach that makes every visitor feel like a regular guest. They even offer boutique catering services, elevating their capabilities beyond a standard neighborhood cafe.
Planning a weekend family dinner here, sadly, requires alternative arrangements since they remain entirely closed on Sundays. Their daily operations also end promptly at seven o’clock, ruling out this location for standard evening dining.
I also felt that the surrounding industrial neighborhood setting lacks the scenic ambiance found in more developed culinary districts.
Very delicious, authentic Vietnamese food! Made to order, so there’s a little wait. Food and bobba were very flavorful!! We ordered kids chicken pho and kids lemon chicken which came in a large serving! I had chicken and veggies with fried rice, eggdrop soup & cheese rangoon, which was very flavorful and also served in a large amount. Definitely coming back and recommending to others!!
