We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range: I looked closely at the beverage offerings at each cafe, prioritizing their cold brews and signature creations. Establishments with an inventive, varied menu received greater consideration.

Pricing & Packages: Budget matters when securing your daily caffeine fix, so we evaluated the standard drink pricing across the board. I also checked for beneficial loyalty programs and sensible combo deals for baked goods.

Specialist Approach: I favored places featuring house-roasted beans and highly knowledgeable staff to ensure top-tier quality.

Location & Accessibility: Getting to your favorite spot should not be a frustrating hassle. I factored in central locations, parking convenience, and overall closeness to highly trafficked neighborhoods.

Staff Credentials: A great barista elevates the entire drinking experience with their hands-on expertise. I specifically noted the specialty training and roasting knowledge demonstrated by the team members at each location.

Customer Reviews:

The service is amazing
Vela is a hidden gem of coffee in downtown San Antonio.

The service is amazing, friendly, prompt, and skilled in crafting delicious espresso drinks. I visited twice and the foam on my latte and chai were perfectly smooth.

I loved that Vela offers Turkish coffee in addition to the typical fare, so fun to try yet another unique coffee brewing method. Also distinctive was the offering of house made syrups and alt-milks.

I’d recommend Vela to anyone visiting the San Antonio area who loves good, quality coffee.

Great atmosphere and even better coffee!
Great atmosphere and even better coffee! We are very picky about our coffee beans and it’s hard in our opinion to find a cafe that sources good, fresh beans and also has really skilled baristas. This place has both, not to mention really cool house made syrups and alternate milks. Such a great stop if you’re downtown!

We got the Sami and noisette. Both amazingly good 😊 just the kind ck we need coming from WA. As you walk in you’ll be greeted by super friendly staff, 3 pinball rooms, a wall of game boards, and 2 lounges to enjoy this gem of a coffee shop. My family appreciates the LGBTAI+2 feel/vibe. Thank you 🫶

What a great discovery!
What a great discovery!  Loved this coffee shop/roaster from the moment we walked in. Came here for the weekly held car meet at the side of the coffee shop. Over all very nice interior with good coffee options. The staff are very welcoming and even offer their own drink recommenarions. Whether it’s for the cars or for the coffee this spot is a must go for a nice Sunday morning visit. 10 out of 10 experience and ill for sure be back next Sunday for another trip.

My absolute favorite coffee
When in San Antonio, I always visit Estate Coffee Company. Lavendar Latte has been a consistent favorite although the Kentucky Smoke latte is right up there with it. Since I don’t live in San Antonio, I also order coffee beans through their site. The beans arrive fast, well-packaged and allows me to always enjoy Estate’s offerings from home. My absolute favorite coffee.

Customer Reviews:

I’ll be back and recommend it to anyone
First visit to Early Bird.  Years ago (over a decade) this was another national coffee shop (name intentionally omitted) and this is much brighter, much friendlier and inviting and was wonderful.  I had a large chai, as my visit was an afternoon social meeting and I had already had my 32 oz of coffee at this point.  It was great.  Warm latte, not too hot and not too sweet.  Easy ti immediately start sipping and. Enjoying.  I’ll be back and recommend to anyone, with wonderful inside and shaded outside seating.

Love Early Bird!
Love Early Bird! I will go out of my way just to have their Matcha Lavender drink. The lavender syrup they use is made in house, fresh everyday! I haven’t had their coffee or food items yet, so can’t comment on those, but I’m sure they’re delightful ☕️🥐
