Finding the best pizza in San Antonio gets harder once you realize how many local spots do one style really well.
Some places win with a blistered Neapolitan crust, while others stand out for giant New York-style pies, loaded toppings, or a reliable late-night menu.
I wanted picks that felt worth the drive, not just good enough in a pinch, so I paid close attention to crust quality, ingredient freshness, variety, and the overall experience.
These are the local spots I would keep in mind when the craving hits, and only a really satisfying slice will do.
How much does pizza cost in San Antonio?
Pizza in San Antonio usually costs about $10 to $35, depending on the size and style you order.
| Pizza Style | Average Price Range |
| Single Neapolitan or Personal Pie | $10 – $16 |
| Large New York-Style or Specialty Pie | $17 – $35 |
1. Dough Pizzeria Napoletana

Website: http://www.doughpizzeria.com/
Address: 6989 Blanco Rd.
Contact: (210) 979-6565 | [email protected]
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 11:30 AM – 10:00 PM
Dough Pizzeria Napoletana is the place I think of when I want a true Neapolitan pie instead of something heavy or overloaded.
They bake at over 900 degrees in wood-burning ovens named “Il Cuore” and “Scintilla,” and that fast 90-second cook gives the crust a soft chew with the right blistered edge.
The farm-fresh toppings also help. Nothing tastes random here, and the kitchen clearly respects traditional Italian technique without making the meal feel too formal.
I stopped by during social hour, and the room had the kind of energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion.
The only real downside is popularity. Weekend waits can drag, and the seating feels cramped once the rush starts.
If you can go a little early or aim for lunch, that issue is easier to manage. For a polished, satisfying pizza night, Dough is easy to recommend.

Minimal Wait
Enjoyed the margarita pizzas. “Cheese” pizza for kids were margaritas without basil. Kids liked them. The sauce & cheese was spot on. Really liked the fire 🔥 oven grilled pizza dough – very chewy and yummy. Shrimp pasta was a hit. Chicken& mushroom pasta was ok. The beer flight was perfect. Service was very prompt. Minimal wait. The place was packed Saturday afternoon but we were able to grab a table outside. Kids got play dough to play with as well while we were waiting.

True Italian Flavor
My favorite place to get pizza and true Italian flavor when not in Italy. I cannot get enough of the amazing food, drinks, desserts and espresso. The service is always great and attentive and it is great to see this spot always buzzing and everyone smiling and enjoying great food.

2. Il Forno

Website: http://www.ilfornosa.com/
Address: 122 Nogalitos Street
Contact: (210) 616-2198
Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Il Forno works well when I want something that feels more crafted than standard takeout. Their scratch-made, wood-fired pizzas already stand out, but the bigger draw for me is the house-made charcuterie.
Toppings like coppa and prosciutto add more depth than the usual pepperoni routine, and the local vegetables keep everything tasting fresh instead of heavy.
I’m also a fan of the patio. On a breezy evening, it’s the kind of place where lingering over a couple of pies feels easy. That relaxed setup makes it a strong pick for meeting friends.
The tradeoff is size. They stick to a 12-inch format, so bigger groups usually need a few pizzas to feel satisfied. That can push the bill up faster than expected.
Still, sharing a few pies is part of the fun, especially after visiting the popular markets in San Antonio nearby. If you care about artisanal toppings and patio dining, Il Forno is a strong choice.

Great Pizza Joint
Great pizza joint and more! Along with their fantastic gourmet pizza you can get a pitcher of High Wheel Beer 🍺, Betty that is. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining, but if you prefer an indoor environment, they’ll accommodate you in their cozy interior space. This is a bring your crew and enjoy the moment kind of establishment.

3. Pizzeria Vesuvio

Address: 1110 South Alamo
Contact: (210) 245-7478
Hours: Monday, Wednesday-Sunday, 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM; Tuesday, Closed
Pizzeria Vesuvio is the kind of spot that works when you want dinner to feel memorable instead of routine.
The location near the River Walk helps, but the food is what keeps the place from feeling like a tourist stop. The menu has more personality than that, and the from-scratch approach shows up in both the pizza and the desserts.
Its biggest standout is the King William Pizza, a double-crust pie shaped like a crown and stuffed with seasoned mozzarella, bacon, and pepperoni. It makes an impression the second it reaches the table.
I placed a delivery order recently, and the sheer weight of the toppings made the longer prep time easier to forgive. Still, you should expect a wait if you order here.
If you can be patient, the payoff is worth it. I would also save room for one of the hand-made seasonal cheesecakes.

Cooked to Perfection
I had such a great experience here! The pizza was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Esteban, was truly the best. He was attentive, warm, and made sure we had everything we needed. We also loved the outdoor seating; the ambience was relaxing and made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend the Tiramisu, it was incredibly flavorful — perfectly sweet, creamy, and made to perfection. Truly a wonderful dessert that finished off the meal beautifully. Fyi they have their own free private parking in the back and it was definitely convenient.

Absolutely Delicious
We walked over from the convention center and enjoyed a couple of beers along with a pepperoni pizza. The atmosphere was laid back and inviting, and Monique took good care of us. The pizza was absolutely delicious. Cooked perfect. Golden brown with a nice cheese pull. Highly recommend.

4. Pizza Classics

Website: https://www.pizzaclassics.com/
Address: 3440 North Saint Marys Street
Contact: (210) 225-3356 | [email protected]
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 10:30 AM – 12:00 AM
Pizza Classics is the kind of place I would keep in mind for late-night cravings or group orders where nobody wants to leave hungry.
Their menu leans generously across the board, from oven-baked subs to a massive 20-inch “Giant Cheese” pie. They don’t hold back on toppings either.
What I value here is the comfort-food appeal. This is not the place for tiny artisan portions. It’s built for big appetites, easy sharing, and a meal that feels especially satisfying after a long day.
Pizza Classics is an easy choice when size and value matter most. If you’re making a full snack run out of it, you could even stop by local candy stores in San Antonio afterward.
The main drawback is parking. The North Saint Marys Street location gets tight during busy hours, so pickup can be awkward if you hit the rush.

Definitely Recommend
The pizza was good, it couldve used just a little more cheese but the over all taste was good, the crust was soft. The wings were Amazing, they had a lot of meat to them, cooked just right, very flavorful. The calzone was all meat very good not dry at all the crust was soft as well. Would definitely recommend, and will be going back.

Darn Good Place
Did a search on a local pizza place that wasn’t a chain pizza. I wanted to try local. You know it’s a darn good place when parking is full and there’s several people coming and going. I went for a specialty Pizza and it was buy one get one free. I took it to go and on the drive back to the hotel the vehicle smelled good. You know this was gonna be delicious. I dove right into the pizza not taking a moment to snap a picture of the before. Definitely liked it. Definitely recommend

5. Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse

Website: https://parryspizza.com/
Address: 5311 N Loop 1604 W, Suite 114
Contact: (210) 455-1455
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse makes the most sense when the group wants more than pizza alone. The New York-style pies are the anchor, but the huge rotating draft list gives the whole place a more social, hangout feel than a quick slice stop.
I also appreciate that they make room for different preferences. They have a dedicated gluten-free crust option, which makes the menu easier to work with if someone needs a different base.
The downside is the beer menu. With 72 taps, it can feel like a lot to sort through if you just want to order fast and move on. It’s not a serious flaw, but it can slow things down.
Once you ask the staff for a recommendation, though, the experience gets much easier. If you want pizza, patio space, and a big beverage selection in one stop, Parry’s is a strong pick.

Very Professional
I came here for lunch today. It was my first time dining here. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated promptly. The manager came by our table to introduce herself and to welcome us. She had a complimentary app in honor of our first visit. Emory, our waiter, was amazing—friendly, attentive, and very professional. The atmosphere was nice—not too loud but definitely lively for a lunch hour. We ordered the 5 Burroughs pizza and it was amazing! I’ll be back for sure.
