Searching for the best vegetarian restaurants in San Antonio no longer means settling for a side salad and calling it a meal.
I wanted spots that could handle real comfort food, lighter, personal trainer-approved plant-based plates, and the kind of flavors that make you want to come back.
So, I pulled together local favorites that serve everything from breakfast tacos and Tex-Mex classics to wellness-focused dishes. These are the places that stood out when I wanted vegetarian food that actually felt exciting.
How much does vegetarian food cost in San Antonio?

| Category | Price Range | Examples |
| Budget-Friendly | $10 – $15 | Earth Burger, Project Pollo |

1. Hash Vegan Eatery

Website: https://www.hashveganeatery.com/
Address: 5007 S Flores St
Contact: (210) 332-9244 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Friday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Walking into Hash Vegan Eatery feels like a warm hug from a close friend. I was blown away by their massive portions of comfort food, and the Buffalo Hash scratched every savory craving I had.
This spot stands out as a dedicated sober-friendly space. They skip alcohol entirely and lean into a farm-to-cup tea program with organic Native American herbal remedies that feel thoughtful instead of gimmicky.
The food still stays front and center. Dishes like the “phish” tacos and creamy macaroni bowls make this place feel generous, filling, and rooted in the local community.
The tradeoff is that the menu leans heavily into rich diner-style comfort food. If you want a lighter meal or a glass of wine with dinner, the experience may feel a bit limiting.

Such a treat to find this place.
Our first time visiting HASH (Heal And Share Healing) and we had an amazing time with both the meal and getting to know one of the owners, Rogelio. He is such a beautiful soul. We’ll definitely be back again to experience more of their amazing vegan and hand made food. Such a treat to find this place. Highly recommend visiting.

Probably my favorite vegan restaurant in San Antonio.
The places you love most, sometimes are the ones you forget to tell people about or was I gatekeeping?!
Probably my favorite vegan restaurant in San Antonio. From the story, to the food, to the community, these guys got it. Chill vibes, dope feels, good people and great food. Literally nothing on the menu has disappointed.
People like Roger and his brother need to be glorified and kept around. They are staples for the community and the planet. Highly recommend Hash anytime you are in the area! 11 out of 10.

2. Vegan Avenue On Main

Website: https://eatveganavenue.com/
Address: 2512 N. Main Ave
Contact: (210) 850-7348
Hours: Monday-Thursday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Friday-Sunday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Starting your day with breakfast for dinner is always a good idea, and Vegan Avenue On Main absolutely leans into that. Their all-day menu covers everything from morning tacos to towering burgers, so it’s easy to land on something that fits the mood.
I was especially impressed by how clearly they cater to allergy-conscious diners. They offer soy-free options and make it pretty simple to customize your order if you’re still figuring out what works for you.
Their brunch side is a real draw, too. Tres Leches Pancakes and battered cauliflower wings bring the kind of indulgent, shareable energy that works well for groups or anyone easing into plant-based food.
The one drawback is price. Those more intricate plates and commercial meat substitutes can push the cost higher than simpler, vegetable-forward spots around town.

Remarkable in flavor
Today’s order was carne asada fries, aguachiles, and pazole. These are different dishes for us, but quite remarkable in flavor. The beets in the aguachiles are that and flavorful when paired with the avocado and jalapeno. The pazole is rich, with will seasoned broth base. The carne asada fries are enough for two people, at least. So Nanny flavors, including the cheese and avocado and pico.

Amazing and would definitely come and eat here again.
I love their patio area. Very quiet and still warm during the winter because it is nestled between buildings with lovely plants and lighting. Really nice spot to chill and eat. Friendly and welcoming staff. Plates are big enough and worth the price. Menu has a lot of variety and it is 100% VEGAN. Food is amazing and would definitely come and eat here again.

3. Pharm Table

Website: https://www.pharmtable.com/
Address: 611 South Presa, Suite 106
Contact: (210) 802-1860 | [email protected]
Hours: Wednesday-Thursday: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM; Friday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM; Saturday: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Sunday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Healing your body through culinary medicine is the foundation at Pharm Table. The restaurant works as an anti-inflammatory apothecary kitchen that draws on Ayurvedic principles to shape each dish.
The entire facility is free of gluten, dairy, and refined sugars. That makes it especially appealing for diners with celiac disease or anyone who wants a meal that feels a little cleaner and easier on the body.
If you’re exploring the city with local tour operators, it’s a smart place to refuel. I also appreciate the way they blend heritage foods of the Americas with spices like turmeric and sumac without making the menu feel preachy.
The catch is that Pharm Table isn’t strictly vegetarian. They offer sustainably raised animal proteins as optional add-ons, so diners looking for a fully animal-free kitchen may prefer somewhere else.

Great vegan options available.
Food was very flavorful and amazing. Great vegan options available. Everything on the menu that didn’t list protein was vegan. Portion size was perfect as well.
Great service from staff. Sat at outdoor seating, good atmosphere but music from next door restaurant was clashing.

This is a hidden gem for vegans here in San Antonio.
This was my first time visiting w/ my husband and I wish it wasn’t my last. This is a hidden gem for vegans here in San Antonio. Across the street from the Tobin Cnter, this place offers outdoor seating, artwork and some pretty nice music to help you soak in the atmosphere of the resturant. The menu is easy to read;those working there will gladly answer any questions that you may have. Our meal was made to order, fresh and the vegan cheesecake had just enough flavor for us to enjoy every bite!

4. Viva Vegeria

Website: https://vivavegeria-sa.com/
Address: 1422 Nogalitos Street
Contact: (210) 465-9233 | [email protected]
Hours: Wednesday-Saturday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Sunday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Craving authentic Tex-Mex without the meat used to feel like a challenge, but Viva Vegeria makes it look easy. I was impressed by how naturally they turn regional classics into satisfying plant-based versions without losing that comforting depth of flavor.
Their Mole Poblano really drives that home. The kitchen also works as a completely gluten-free facility, which adds real peace of mind if cross-contamination is a concern.
Another thing I appreciate is the donation-based “Un Poco de Amor” chalupa program. That small detail says a lot about how connected the restaurant is to the community.
The main downside is availability. They’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Sunday hours end early, so it’s not the easiest place to fit into a flexible weeknight dinner plan.

This place is a gem.
I’ve come here so many times I’ve forgotten to leave a review. It’s delicious every time, service is incredible, the vibe is great, the food is home-y, love love love the picadillo nachos, tacos al carbon, all enchilada varieties, the flautas, omg the beans are so goooood! To top it off the specials make eating a tasty gluten-free vegan meal affordable! In this economy? This place is a gem.

Will def be back.
Such a yummy place, felt like I was being fed by abuelita and or tios/tias who knew how to cook vegan. The vibes are so cozy and familiar. I thought the kale/spinach enchiladas wouldn’t be that great but mannn the salsa made it soo good would for sure get it. The probiotic/luchadora nachos were so good and healthy. And of course the bbq cauliflower tacos were amazing. The price is so reasonable which can be hard with vegan food, so that was much appreciated. Will def be back

5. Plantaqueria

Website: http://plantaqueria.com/
Address: 124 Broadway
Contact: Contact through website
Hours: Monday-Sunday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Mastering the morning meal is what Plantaqueria does best. The restaurant focuses on vegan breakfast tacos, and that narrow focus ends up feeling more like a strength than a limitation.
Their takes on Texas favorites, especially the jackfruit barbacoa, are surprisingly convincing. They also make their gluten-free corn tortillas from scratch through a traditional nixtamalization process, which gives everything a fresher texture.
You can easily swap traditional morning wine tastings for their cold brew lineup, including the BrewChata mix. The staff is welcoming too, which makes the menu feel easy to explore even on a first visit.
The limitation is the schedule. They close at 4:00 PM every day, so this isn’t the place to keep in mind for a standard sit-down evening dinner.

Did not disappoint.
I didn’t know this place was vegan. I came bc the pictures of the tacos looked good. I’m not even vegan but the tacos were delicious, did not disappoint. Ordered breakfast tacos – La Lucha, Ranchera & Tejano. I also got pepino con limón water and it was light and refreshing.
