Searching for the best matcha in San Antonio can feel like an endless treasure hunt when you crave that perfect balance of grassy umami and creamy sweetness.
Whether you usually frequent authentic Japanese restaurants or prefer grabbing sweets at local bakeries, the city’s green tea scene has surprisingly leveled up.
I’ve scoured the town to find the silkiest lattes and the richest soft serves available to help you discover your next favorite matcha cup.
How much does matcha cost in San Antonio?
Grabbing a quality matcha beverage in the city typically ranges from $5 to $10, largely depending on the café’s specialty level and ingredients.
| Venue Type | Price Range |
| Standard Coffee Shops | $5.00 – $6.50 |
| Specialty Matcha Cafés | $7.00 – $9.50 |
1. Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko

Website: https://www.matchacafe-maiko.com/eng/
Address: 7115 Blanco Rd Ste 112
Contact: (210) 267-1020
Hours: Monday – Sunday, 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
When you crave authentic Uji matcha sourced directly from Kyoto, Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko is the place to go.
They exclusively partner with Harima Garden, ensuring every sip carries that rich, earthy flavor profile you expect from high-grade leaves. They deliver deeply aromatic and vivid green brews.
Their menu goes beyond basic lattes, offering incredibly creamy soft serve and parfaits made right in the store for maximum freshness. You can taste the commitment to safety and quality control in every single bite of their delicious matcha ice cream desserts.
However, I was disappointed by their inconsistent product availability during my visit. Customers occasionally run into issues where favorite items are out of stock, and the service can feel incredibly rushed during busy hours.
Super Delicious With Beautiful Presentation
Visited last night around 6:30 with my daughters. Very nice and chill atmosphere. We had Matcha Chocolate Creams and Mochi sticks. Was super delicious with beautiful presentation. The staff was awesome, positive, courteous and professional. The establishment was clean and well taken care of as well. First time here and we really enjoyed ourselves. We appreciate the wonderful customer service. Thank You! 🍵💝🍡☕

2. Míra Matcha

Website: https://www.miramatcha.com/
Address: 1931 N New Braunfels Ave
Contact: [email protected]
Hours: Wednesday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Monday – Tuesday, Closed
If you want a unique cultural fusion, Míra Matcha serves brilliant Latin-inspired flavors right here in Texas. They’re a homegrown small business that actively addresses the local market gap for specialty, health-conscious matcha green tea.
I grabbed their lavender agave matcha at a pop-up last month, and the monk fruit sweetener gave the tea a wonderfully clean finish.
Plus, they’re heavily community-driven, frequently showing up at farmers’ markets while donating a portion of sales to local charities.
However, the flavor intensity can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on who’s whisking the drink. I’ve experienced inconsistent quality where the matcha tasted noticeably diluted, losing that signature earthy punch to the milk.
Sometimes the syrup balance leans a little too heavily on the “sweet” side, too, which can drown out the delicate notes of the green tea leaves.
Strong And Shines Through
Definitely some of the best matcha in the city! I love having so many matcha options where the flavors are fun and yummy but the matcha is still strong and shines through. I haven’t tried their hojicha yet, but it’s rare to find a place that has it so I look forward to giving it a shot one day! The space is very cozy and cute with plenty of outlets for people looking to get work done. Also really enjoyed the matcha themed pastries–only comment would be it would be nice to have them warmed up!

Genuinely Cares About Customers
I had such a great experience at Mira Matcha! Arianna was serving me, and she was absolutely amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and really made me feel welcomed. You can tell she genuinely cares about her customers and knows her stuff! My drink (piña mango matcha👍🏽)-highly recommend, came out perfect, and her energy made the visit even better. Definitely recommend stopping by and asking for Arianna if you want great service and good vibes and good drinks! 💚🍵

Grabbing dessert becomes a highly visual, experiential treat thanks to the Japanese-style soft serve available at this casual spot.
Hanamaru Cafe serves their incredibly rich matcha ice cream inside freshly made taiyaki, adding a delightful textural contrast to the smooth cream.
They also offer highly customizable desserts, allowing you to pile on various mix-ins alongside vegan or gluten-free batter options. If you want a full meal first, their broad menu covers satisfying savory dishes like curry rice.
Just be prepared to hang out for a while, as the kitchen is notorious for incredibly long wait times. I found the wait frustrating, and I even experienced order accuracy issues that required me to double-check my receipt before leaving.
My Matcha Latte Was Amazing
To celebrate the new school year, I wanted to take my son to get booba tea and this place did not disappoint me. The lady at the register was super nice and friendly while explaining the menu. This place took me back to coffee place Ivisited in kyoto. My matcha latte was amazing 👏 🤩 おいしい

Very delicious!
Very delicious! Staff are very friendly, taiyaki is delicious both on its own and with the matcha/vanilla mix ice cream! Spam musubi was also great!
Attaching photos of the menu bc it can be a little overwhelming trying to take it all in there in person! Would recommend the butterfly pea tea and the hojita latte (its kinda of my matcha. Earthy flavor).

4. LaTEAda

Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Sunday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM; Monday, Closed
Focusing purely on organic, loose-leaf ingredients, LaTEAda positions itself as a true holistic wellness destination. They source their ceremonial powder from certified organic farms, ensuring your drink is totally free from synthetic additives.
I attended one of their interactive tea-tasting classes recently, and the serene environment completely elevated the tasting experience.
Their menu constantly evolves to feature low-sugar, functional matcha beverages designed for calming, rejuvenation, and sustained energy.
Unfortunately, the physical space has some notable accessibility and accommodation concerns. I noticed the seating arrangements make it difficult to maneuver comfortably.
Also, the management’s approach to handling customer service situations left me feeling uncomfortable.
Done Perfectly And Impressed
I was looking for a good matcha latte and found this place– it’s adorable and I had one of the best matcha lattes I’ve ever had! Lavender and oat milk, it was done perfectly. Very kind and helpful staff, so many things to choose from including iced brewed teas on tap and loose-leaf teas as well as tea making supplies. Very cool place, I’ll definitely be back! Very impressed.

5. Artea Bubble Tea + Eats

Website: https://www.drinkartea.com/drinks
Address: 7010 W Loop 1604 N #201
Contact: (210) 888-3820
Hours: Monday – Sunday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Combining a massive beverage menu with Asian-inspired meals, Artea Bubble Tea + Eats operates as a fantastic hybrid dining destination.
The menu is loaded with creative, Instagram-friendly specialties like sea salt cream cloud drinks that taste vibrant. They use freshly brewed loose-leaf tea for their bases, allowing you to craft customized lattes with various milks and boba.
Plus, I love that they make it incredibly convenient to get your fix through their mobile app, letting you pair a matcha drink with sushi.
The main downside is the shockingly slow service, which often drags out even when the store has very low customer volume. Additionally, staff interactions can feel inconsistent, as my recent visit completely lacked a welcoming or attentive atmosphere.
Drinks Were Great As Expected
It was my first time visiting this location, as I usually head to the one on De Zavala. I stopped by with a friend and the drinks were great, just as expected! I had the Matcha Latte and my friend ordered the Hibiscus tea. I also tried the popcorn chicken—I believe it’s made with rice or tapioca flour, and it was definitely a treat! I forgot to take pictures this time, but I’ll be back!

Nice Relaxed Atmosphere
We decided to stop by for some boba drinks today. We ordered the Crème Brûlée Milk Tea, the Passion Fruit Slush, and the Matcha Latte. The Creme Brûlée was perfect (not salty like other places I have been lately). My daughter decided to get Bear Mango added to her Matcha and she said it tasted great. This place had a nice, relaxed atmosphere, and we enjoyed our time. We didn’t order any food, but noticed that it smelled delicious and the meals being served looked really good. We’ll definitely get food and dine in next time.
