Bring Antiques Back to Life with the 5 Best Furniture Restoration Services in San Antonio

furniture-restoration-services-in-san-antonio
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Craftsmanship Quality: We closely examined the technical woodworking skills demonstrated on previous restoration projects. Shops that consistently produced museum-quality finishes scored much higher on our list.

Service Versatility: We looked for companies offering a wide range of repairs, from simple wood touch-ups to complete structural rebuilding. Being able to handle specialized needs is a major plus.

Customer Convenience: We prioritized workshops that offer on-site repairs or dedicated transportation for large items. Hauling a heavy dining table across town is difficult for most homeowners.

Historical Expertise: We assessed each shop's ability to preserve the original integrity of valuable antiques. Restoring period pieces correctly requires specific knowledge of era-appropriate materials.

Communication Reliability: We evaluated how quickly and clearly these businesses respond to quote requests. Prompt replies and transparent pricing are vital for a less stressful restoration process.

Letting go of a favorite dresser or family rocker isn’t always easy, especially when the damage looks worse than it really is. I know how stressful it feels to weigh sentimental value against repair costs, pickup logistics, and the risk of changing a piece you love.

That’s why I looked into the best furniture restoration in San Antonio and narrowed this list to shops that stand out for craftsmanship, communication, and practical service.

Whether you need antique refinishing, leather repair, or structural fixes, these are the local names I would start with.

And if you decide it’s finally time to let go, you can find new furniture at the best furniture shops in the area.

How much does furniture restoration cost in San Antonio?

Furniture restoration in San Antonio typically ranges from $341 to $931 for professional refinishing, depending on the size of the piece and the complexity of the repairs.

Service TypeEstimated Cost
Small Items (Chairs, Side Tables)$100 – $300
Medium Items (Coffee Tables, Dressers)$300 – $700
Large Items (Dining Tables, Armoires)$400 – $1,200
Structural Repairs/Refinishing$150 – $500
Hourly Rate~$90/hour (for example, $75 minimum)

1. Weathersby Guild San Antonio-Austin

Website: http://www.weathersbyguildsa-aus.com/

Address: 18985 Marbach Lane

Contact: (210) 251-3019 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Dealing with sudden home damage is stressful, so one thing that stands out about Weathersby Guild San Antonio-Austin is its ability to work directly with insurance providers when a damaged piece is part of a larger claim.

Their team also seems especially strong with traditional craftsmanship. If you’re trying to restore period furniture in an older home, that kind of detailed work matters because the goal is to repair the piece without making it look out of place.

I found their free in-home estimates and complimentary transportation for larger items especially helpful. When I looked into them after a minor plumbing leak affected a vintage side table, that pickup support felt like a real relief.

The main drawback is timing. More complex antique work can take up to four weeks, so this isn’t the best fit if you need a quick turnaround.

Still, if accuracy matters more than speed, their museum-quality results make them easy to recommend.

Pros

  • Expertise in catastrophic disaster recovery
  • Capacity for modern commercial office pieces
  • Free personalized in-home estimates
  • Museum-quality traditional craftsmanship

Cons

  • Project timelines can take four weeks
  • Not ideal for urgent repair needs

Customer Reviews

Very professional, easy to communicate with.

Great job in refinishing our chairs and repairing a broken one! Craftsmanship was top quality. Finished products were beyond our expectations! Seats not finished originally by manufacturer. The craftsmen from Weathersby Guild immediately saw the problem, suggested a best way to restore them. The end result were chairs better than what was expected. Our broken chair was restored to as good as new condition. Can’t tell it was ever damaged. Very professional, easy to communicate with, high quality work, completed when promised. Would recommend to others. Thx

10/10. We would highly recommend them!

Incredible work! We had an antique dresser carved into by a tween in 1999 that we were afraid was irreparable. They did it at an excellent price, and quickly, too. We are absolutely amazed at how good it looks and what craftsmanship they have. They picked it up and delivered it, and were very friendly and professional. We will definitely be using them again. 10/10. Would highly recommend!

2. Becker Furniture Repair

Website: http://www.beckerfurniturerepair.com/

Address: 7348 Reindeer Trl

Contact: (210) 966-0554 | (210) 387-8996 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (By appointment)

Becker Furniture Repair makes the most sense to me for upholstered pieces, especially if the damage is on leather and you don’t want to replace the whole item. Their specialty in structural patching and leather re-dyeing gives them a narrower focus than some full-service wood shops, but that focus is also what makes them useful.

What I appreciate here is the option to text photos for an estimate, since that speeds up the quote process.

Whenever the repair is structurally possible, they can also handle it on-site. That cuts down on the hassle and risk that come with moving a damaged sofa or recliner across town.

The tradeoff is their schedule. The shop closes at 4:00 PM on weekdays, which can make drop-offs tricky for anyone with a standard office routine.

Even so, their mobile service and fast communication make them a practical pick for convenience and value.

Pros

  • Cost-effective leather restoration
  • On-site repair reduces transit damage
  • Rapid visual communication via text
  • Operates across a broad regional area

Cons

  • Shop closes early at 4:00 PM
  • Drop-offs are difficult for office workers

Customer Reviews

Everything is so beautifully done.

Fantastic work!!! They saved my grandmother’s end table that I’d ruined with a potted plant, and repaired a broken glider that was 15+ years old! Everything is so beautifully done, and I am so grateful to get more life out of these important family pieces!

A business that I will gladly always support!

A wonderful family owned business that I will gladly always support! I had one wooden rocking chair repaired, as well as one rocking chair repaired and reupholstered. They did fantastic on both! So happy to have both of these family heirlooms back to working order and looking beautiful! Now we can pass them down to our children one day!

3. The Windmill Woodworks Limited Liability Company (LLC)

Website: http://www.windmillwoodworks.com/

Address: 11027 Wetmore Rd

Contact: (210) 494-8638 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The Windmill Woodworks LLC feels like a strong fit for people who want boutique attention instead of a high-volume shop.

They have more than 35 years of local woodworking experience, and the master craftsman stays closely involved in each project. That hands-on approach is especially helpful for cosmetic wood damage, including scratches, gouges, and pet-chewed edges.

I was especially drawn to their stain-matching and refinishing work. When I looked into them for a chewed-up coffee table, the seamless blending they were known for made this shop easy to keep on my shortlist.

The downside is availability. They’re only open Monday through Thursday, so the scheduling window is tighter than what you get from larger competitors.

Still, if you value personal attention and strong finish work, this shop is worth working around.

Pros

  • Outstanding personalized boutique care
  • Advanced solutions for domestic pet damage
  • Capable of performing in-home repairs
  • Incredible custom stain matching results

Cons

  • Closed on Fridays and weekends
  • Very narrow window for dropping off items

Customer Reviews

Give them a try 😉

These guys were great. Brought back a stain ravaged, watermarked estate sale buy I had all but given up on but decided to try my luck here. OMG…this piece has been rejuvenated and reborn to bring many more years of service and pleasure to own. Thank you all for excellent work and craftsmanship. I’ll be back again soon…I have many more pieces! Give them a try 😉

I will certainly be back.

Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship! They are so helpful and although the process from start to finish took a little while, the quality of their work is worth the wait. If I ever need something repair or refinished again I will certainly be back.

4. Furniture Medic by Broussard Group

furniture-medic-by-broussard-group

Website: https://www.furnituremedic.com/locations/tx/san-antonio

Address: 2715 N St Mary’s St

Contact: (210) 830-5820

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Furniture Medic by Broussard Group stands out when the job goes beyond a basic touch-up. Their cabinet refacing service is a practical alternative to cabinet painting, and they also handle broader on-site repair work for both homes and commercial spaces.

I also appreciate that they can bring that work directly to you. That’s especially useful after water or moving damage, when you may already be juggling insurance paperwork and recovery tasks like house cleaning.

Because they’re part of a larger franchise network, the process feels more structured than what you might get from a tiny one-person workshop. Their experience with emergency response and complex claims is another real plus.

The drawback is their end-of-week schedule. They close early on Fridays, which can make urgent pickups or last-minute appointments harder to manage.

Even so, their combination of on-site capacity and disaster-recovery know-how gives them a practical edge.

Pros

  • Rapid emergency disaster response
  • Cost-effective alternatives to full remodels
  • Highly experienced in fulfilling moving claims
  • Massive, robust on-site repair capabilities

Cons

  • Closes early at 3:00 PM on Fridays
  • Emergency response is tighter before weekends

Customer Reviews

You are in very good hands. 🪑✨

There is something really special about being able to take a piece of furniture someone loves, maybe even a family heirloom, and bring it back to life instead of replacing it. That kind of craftsmanship, care, and attention to detail deserves a big pat on the back. If you have a piece that means something to you and just needs a little love, you are in very good hands. 🪑✨

The price point was also extremely reasonable.

Our new puppy did some real damage to our couch. Furniture Medic came recommended by the manufacturer, Pottery Barn. The team was in and out in 20-30 minutes and the couch effectively looks like new. The price point was also extremely reasonable given the alternatives of either purchasing a new slip cover for the section of the couch (~ $2,000 directly from Pottery Barn) or purchasing the fabric and having a seamstress remake a slipcover, which would have also been expensive and a headache. Great experience all around.

5. K & K Antique Restoration and Refinishing

k-k-antique-restoration-and-refinishing

Website: http://kandkantiques.com/

Address: 2540 MacArthur View

Contact: (210) 822-1910

Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday, By appointment only

K & K Antique Restoration and Refinishing is the shop I would keep in mind for older pieces that need more than a cosmetic refresh.

They have been working in this market since the early 1970s, and that long track record shows up in their antique focus, custom build matching, and ability to recreate missing parts. That’s a big deal when replacement components simply aren’t available.

I was also impressed by their willingness to handle detailed woodwork, including carved elements and broader redesign requests. That makes them more flexible than a shop that only offers strip-and-refinish work.

The main limitation is weekend access. Saturday service is available by appointment only, so spontaneous drop-offs are off the table.

Still, if you want generational experience and careful antique restoration, they’re one of the steadier names in San Antonio.

Pros

  • Exceptional level of local community trust
  • Strong antique restoration focus
  • Capable of comprehensive custom building
  • Skilled custom component matching

Cons

  • Strictly appointment-only Saturday access
  • No spontaneous weekend drop-offs permitted

Customer Reviews

I highly recommend this business.

We have a vintage upholstered rocker with wooden arms that needed to be completely refurbished. Dan stripped the wooden pieces and did a custom stain and finish that exceeded our expectations. It is beautiful now and we are extremely happy with the professionalism and quality of service we received. Also the turn around time was very fast. I highly recommend this business.

The transformation was incredible.

We had a large table, with 2 benches and 2 chairs plus 3 barstools that Dan refinished for us. I was so nervous but the color was absolutely beautiful. The transformation was incredible. He did a top notch job for us and kept us informed of the process the whole time. I would recommend this company to anyone. Thank you Dan!!!
