1. King Of Shawarma & Kabab Food Truck

Website: kingofshawarmaandkabob.godaddysites.com
Address: 8719 Wurzbach Rd
Contact: 480 505 8877
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Tracking down real flavor often leads to unexpected places, and this food truck packs a serious savory punch. King Of Shawarma & Kabab prepares Halal meats on a traditional vertical rotisserie next to a wide variety of freshly grilled skewers.
I grabbed a combo plate on a recent lunch run and instantly caught that rich, smoky aroma off the grill. The sides hold their own too, with smooth hummus and crispy falafel adding great texture.
One thing to keep in mind is that a mobile kitchen means seating is limited to whatever’s outdoors. Because of that, taking your order to go is usually the smarter move during the peak afternoon heat.

Amazing food
Cute place with outdoor tables to sit and eat. The food was amazing and I loved the sauces. I got the beef shawarma arabi and my bf got the beef shawarma wrap. Everything tasted super fresh and amazing. We loved it and definitely recommend for anyone who likes shawarma!

The flavors are outstanding
2 weekends and my first 2 trips to King of Shawarma and Kabab. First, I had a beef shawarma arabi plate (pickled veggies, hummus and fries) and then a mixed kabab plate (chicken and beef, rice, salad, hummus, 4 pieces of bread with onion and cilantro) with a small kanafa for dessert. The flavors are outstanding, service super friendly, and the prices are very fair for the quality and quantity of food. The hummus is easily some of the best I can recall. Pictured is the kabab plate and the sweet, cheesy, creamy, crispy, down right delicious kanafa. Highly recommended.

2. Shawarma Alzaeem

Website: shawarmaalzaeem.com
Address: 7880 Culebra Rd
Contact: 210 901 2026
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM | Thursday, 12:00 PM to 12:30 AM | Friday, 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM
Late-night cravings hit differently when the smell of smoky grilled meat pulls you in from the street. That’s where Shawarma Alzaeem makes a strong first impression, especially with its Syrian-style cooking and intense charcoal grilling.
The char gives each wrap a deeper flavor, so the food feels more satisfying than a quick grab-and-go meal. It also helps that the menu leans into bold seasoning, which makes this a good stop when you want something warm, filling, and full of flavor.
The seasoned cuts come folded inside traditional Saj bread, a thin vessel that soaks up all those savory juices. I really like how the house garlic sauce ties the whole thing together.
The catch is that this is a compact, grab-and-go setup with little to no seating, so it’s built for takeout more than lingering.
On top of that, the menu zeroes in on meat wraps, which leaves slim pickings for plant-based eaters.
Customer Reviews:
Absolutely delicious
You gotta try the chicken shawarma & rice platter. It comes with a side salad. Serving was plentiful and it was absolutely delicious. The warak enab (grape leaves) were also delicious. It is genuinely arabic food. The only drawback is that it’s a food truck so there’s nowhere to sit to enjoy this heavenly food.

Beef shawarma is nicely seasoned and tender
Fantastic shawarma and falafel. A place like this is what San Antonio has been missing. The owner is super nice and wants everything to be the best. The beef shawarma is nicely seasoned and tender. The falafel are crispy and very flavorful. Don’t forget to get fries while you’re there. Trust me.

3. Shawarmatee

Website: shawarmateetx.com
Address: 2310 Babcock Rd
Contact: 210 891 6100
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM | Saturday to Sunday, 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Building your meal step by step is a great way to make sure every bite lands the way you want. Shawarmatee focuses on a fully customizable setup, letting you pile bowls and loaded pita sandwiches with fresh in-house ingredients.
You can stack tender gyro meat or roasted chicken, then add vibrant sides like tangy stuffed grape leaves. I appreciate how quick and easy the whole order-and-go flow feels here.
However, the spot sits in a busy retail strip near a major university, so the location can get crowded fast. That’s why finding parking during peak hours can be a real headache.
It’s worth timing your visit outside the lunch and dinner rush to save yourself the hassle.

4. Shawarma Press – San Antonio

Website: shawarmapress.com
Address: Inside Walmart, 11210 Potranco Rd
Contact: 210 701 8559
Hours: Daily, 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM
You don’t usually expect vibrant Mediterranean spices inside a giant retail store, but Shawarma Press flips that idea on its head. This fast-casual spot blends bold flavors with playful fusion wraps and lighter, health-minded options.
I stopped by to try their Tex-Mex shawarma wrap last month and loved the unexpected mix of spicy jalapeños and savory roasted chicken.
Parents will appreciate the dedicated kids’ section and the clear nutritional info on every item. The standardized prep also means you get that same juicy consistency on every order.
The main downside to this super-convenient spot is the short schedule, since the kitchen wraps up by 9:30 PM each day. So it’s best to plan an earlier visit rather than a late dinner run.

Beef and lamb shawarma
I LOVE SHAWARMA PRESS! It’s so hard to believe this spot exists in a Walmart, but it does and it’s delicious! I always get the beef and lamb shawarma. Will keep coming back! The man in the back is always friendly and welcoming too!

5. The Pita Chick

Website: thepitachick.com
Address: 4302 Hyatt Pl Dr
Contact: 951 373 9977 | [email protected]
Hours: Wednesday to Friday, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM | Saturday, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM | Sunday, 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM
The Pita Chick feels like the kind of local kitchen that cares about feeding people well. That warmth comes through in their traditional Mediterranean dishes, especially the generations-old recipes and generous combination plates.
Because the portions are big, this is a helpful pick when you want something filling without making the meal feel rushed.
On top of that, the menu has a home-cooked feel, so it works well for anyone craving comfort food with a fresher, brighter flavor.
You can sample a mountain of proteins and vegetable sides without committing to just one favorite. Slathering their crispy falafel in house-made tzatziki and tangy amba sauce sets off a brilliant clash of flavors.
One thing to note is that ordering runs on a casual counter-service model, so it lacks the pacing of a full sit-down meal. You’ll need to order at the counter and settle in yourself rather than getting table service.
Customer Reviews:
So delicious and flavorful
I have been wanting to try this place for a long time! I got the chicken shawarma bowl, and my husband got the wrap. So delicious and flavorful. Same goes for the hummus and pita chips. I cannot wait to come back and try more things.
