The 5 Best Movers in San Antonio to Help You Stay Calm and Organized

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Pricing Transparency: I checked if movers give clear quotes before the job starts. I focused on companies that explain costs upfront so there are no surprise charges on moving day.

Crew Professionalism: I checked whether trained staff handle the moves rather than temporary workers. A skilled crew is more careful and less likely to damage your belongings.

Service Flexibility: I considered how many services they offer for different needs. The best movers can help with packing, loading, and handling heavy or special items.

Customer Protection: I checked how well they protect items during transport. This includes proper padding and coverage options if something gets damaged.

Moving can quickly turn stressful, especially when boxes start piling up and everything feels out of control. That’s why I looked into the best movers in San Antonio!

Whether you’re a homeowner, a student moving to a new place, or a business changing offices, having the right movers and maybe a good cleaning service to tidy up your old space can save you time and stress.

This guide focuses on movers that are reliable, careful with belongings, and able to handle different types of moves so you can settle into your new place without unnecessary hassle. Read on to find companies that actually make the process easier.

If you’re trying to move without getting hit by surprise costs, Movers of San Antonio is worth checking out.

This team stood out to me for their simple weekday pricing and hands-on service. They offer a clear hourly rate that includes a truck and two movers, so you know what you’re paying upfront.

When I used them for an apartment move, the crew showed up on time and handled fragile items carefully. They even helped with small setup tasks like assembling furniture, which made the day easier.

The downside is that weekend moves cost more, and a fuel fee is added to every job. On the bright side, they don’t charge extra for stairs or extra stops, which can usually add up fast.

Pros

  • Bills in 15-minute increments
  • No extra fees for stairs
  • Furniture assembly included
  • Free blanket wrapping

Cons

  • Weekend rate increases
  • Mandatory fuel trip fee

Made sure everything was protected before moving it

Eric and Demetrius were absolutely fantastic. They were efficient, careful, and incredibly professional from start to finish. They wrapped all of my furniture and made sure everything was protected before moving it. I really appreciated that they asked where I wanted items placed and took the time to make sure everything was set how I wanted it. They made the whole process feel so much less stressful. Honestly, they were everything you could hope for in movers. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Fast, efficient, professional, and friendly

John T. and Mario were the best movers. They were fast, efficient, professional, and friendly. We had a specific goal in mind and they followed through with ease. I could not have asked for a more smooth process. Thank you again!

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM | Saturday, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM | Sunday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM

What makes 3 Men Movers interesting is how much control you get before the move even starts. With them, you can review and choose your crew, making the experience feel safer and more personal.

They also keep things flexible with free rescheduling and trained staff who handle your items carefully after background checks. I like that they do a full walkthrough before loading, so nothing gets damaged.

A huge plus is that moves scheduled during weekdays can be cheaper. Just note that you still pay mileage-based travel fees, which can add up depending on the distance.

They also refuse to move anything packed in plastic trash bags, so everything must be properly boxed.

Pros

  • Free 24-hour rescheduling
  • Weather downtime billing pauses
  • No charges for crew breaks
  • Portable storage options

Cons

  • Mileage-based travel fee
  • Will not move plastic trash bags

Faster than we thought it would, nothing was broken

This was our first move using San Antonio Area Movers and we couldn’t be happier.  They arrived early, kept us well informed every step of the way, it went faster than we thought it would, nothing was broken!!!!!! All 3 of them were just really nice and didn’t mind when I changed my mind where I wanted things to go. It was fantastic.  We will definitely be moving with them again for our next move 🙂

Taking time to wrap and protect furniture

This is the second time I have used this crew for a local move. The first was 6 months ago to a temporary residence. They did a very good job in both instances, taking time to wrap and protect furniture, and to move all the articles quickly and carefully. Everything was handled very professionally and I highly recommend them.

Based on client feedback, this team’s warmth and understanding set them apart, making clients feel at home even during stressful moves. Their affordable long-distance shipping is another thoughtful touch for small loads.

  • Local ownership with national resources
  • Modern and maintained fleet
  • Dedicated junk removal services

Cons

Service was excellent. Josh and Eric showed up, and immediately got to moving. They were professional, hard working, and very efficient. Katie made sure the whole process went smoothly, and provided a very reasonable quote for the service we needed. If I ever need to move again, Two Men and a Truck will be my first call. Thank you!

Moving expensive or heavy items can be stressful, so Swift Movers stood out for its careful handling rather than rushing jobs. The team specializes in white-glove moving, which means extra attention is given to protection and placement.

They’re particularly fantastic in handling difficult items like safes and pianos, and they use trained crews rather than temporary labor.

Plus, their transparent billing means you’re only paying for the work that’s actually done, which feels fair. Being able to choose a moving time that fits your business is also a huge plus.

They did a great job and it was a very fair price

I needed to move antiques and totes to storage and my house from another house 100 miles out of town. They did a great job and it was a very fair price, considering the distance and a two location drop off. They were recommended by two friends that have used them. I was very happy that I found them!

Highly professional, very respectful, and worked quickly!

Excellent! Coulton and his team were highly professional, very respectful, and worked quickly!  I was so impressed with these young men. Coulton’s communication was excellent via email. He answered all my questions regarding the move promptly.  Pricing was as quoted. Do not hesitate to use this moving company!

5. Chapa’s Moving Service

chapas-moving-service

When experience really matters, Chapa’s Moving Service stands out for their decades-long expertise. As a family-owned company, they’re very hands-on, with the owner still involved in daily operations.

They’re also known for handling complex moves, such as school relocations and large relocations. They even provide a dedicated coordinator to guide the entire process.

A big plus is that they don’t charge extra for stairs, which is a breath of fresh air. They also have a storage facility for people between leases, which is a lifesaver if you’re waiting for painting services to finish up at your new place.

On the downside, they charge a mandatory travel fee. They don’t move perishable food or live plants as well, so you’ll need to arrange separate plans for these.

Pros

  • No extra charges for stairs
  • Dedicated move coordinators
  • Heavy-duty item transport
  • Complimentary wardrobe boxes

Cons

  • Mandatory base travel fees
  • Strict prohibited items policy

Customer Reviews

They were very understanding and accommodating

This is the second move I’ve used Chapa. Both times they were really nice and professional. They are better priced than the other companies I called in the area. They made good conversation while moving, which made the overall experience more delightful. They were very understanding and accommodating when my move was scheduled and then pushed a day all within 24 hrs. I hope I don’t have to move again anytime soon but if I needed to, I would definitely call these guys again.

Prompt arrival and worked every single minute

Excellent choice! I am glad I went with Chapa’s.  I explained I had delicate cream/white colored furniture and they assured me my furniture would be wrapped and taken care of.  They were right!  Prompt arrival and worked every single minute they were here.  The movers were friendly and asked questions before, during and after on what was going into the truck.  Highly recommend and would use them again in the future.
