1. The Cove

Hours: Tuesday to Thursday & Sunday 11:00 AM–9:00 PM | Friday to Saturday 11:00 AM–10:00 PM
Grabbing a wholesome meal while keeping the kids entertained is completely doable at this local gem. The Cove features a designated on-site playscape for children and a dedicated beer garden pouring nearly sixty Texas-brewed craft beers.
I recently brought my nephew here, and being able to sip a cold local brew while watching him safely burn off energy was a massive relief.
They also offer complimentary West Coast Swing dance lessons for beginners and serve incredible house-made vegetarian dishes like their scratch-made plant-based burgers. The patio seating provides a breezy, open-air environment ideal for noisy toddlers.
Diners can enjoy organized trivia games that combine delicious food with engaging team activities.
However, you should exercise caution if anyone in your group has severe nut allergies, as walnuts are actively used in their dessert prep. Their discounted lunch specials also operate on a narrow mid-day timeframe that completely excludes weekends.

Great spot! Family friendly and pet friendly. Nice playground for the kids. Food was delicious. Lots of craft beer to choose from. Parking in the front and in the back. DJ and trivia were happening on a Tuesday night. Handicapped parking available.

Hadn’t been to the Cove in years. We went in for a birthday party and were not disappointed. The outdoor area has grown! It’s all covered and very family friendly. The outdoor bar is really cool, with a great selection of draft craft beers. The bottled beer was ice cold. The food is amazing. The portions are huge and very tasty. The staff is very cheerful and attentive. Our party was outside and we were still able to enjoy the live band that was playing inside. The Cove is a comfortable hangout with a laid-back vibe. Gonna be back.

2. Rainforest Cafe

Website: http://rainforestcafe.com
Address: 110 E Crockett St, San Antonio, TX 78205
Contact: (210) 277-6300
Hours: Monday to Thursday 11:00 AM–9:00 PM | Friday 11:00 AM–10:00 PM | Saturday 8:30 AM–10:00 PM | Sunday 8:30 AM–9:00 PM
A lush, theatrical jungle awaits diners right on the river at this immersive location. Rainforest Cafe uses animatronic animals and simulated weather effects to create a highly engaging atmosphere for young explorers.
Unlike many novelty venues, they open early to serve a dedicated morning menu. Their children’s offerings align with established nutritional guidelines, ensuring younger guests get a balanced meal.
Parents can sip adult beverages out of signature souvenir glassware. Ending a meal with their massive, trademarked volcano dessert is a thrilling ritual for families.
Patrons can also browse the integrated retail shop for themed merchandise.
The prime location on the San Antonio River Walk makes it incredibly convenient if you’re exploring downtown or catching a show at nearby comedy clubs.
However, families should be prepared for premium price tags on standard beef and seafood entrees. The sudden simulated thunderstorms might also cause sensory overload for sensitive guests.

We were on the third level, which has great atmosphere. The kids loved all the animated animals and decor. It felt like a special experience. Our server Daniel was AMAZING. Fun, patient, quick with everything… Did I mention patient? He really helped make it a fantastic night for the whole family. The food also tasted great all around. We would highly recommend this location! (Right on the River Walk for easy access to other festive sights and sounds.)

Really fun environment for the whole family. The food isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s good enough to enjoy and the players are huge. Very friendly staff!
Just be aware, your entire party needs to be present to check in for a reservation. Not a big deal, but good to know ahead of time.
Also, if they come up offering to take pictures it’s just them trying to sell you on buying their photos 😂

3. Tycoon Flats N St Marys

Website: stmarys.tycoonflats.com
Address: 2926 N St Mary’s St, San Antonio, TX 78212
Contact: (210)-320-0819 | [email protected]
Hours: Sunday to Thursday 11:00 AM–9:00 PM | Friday to Saturday 11:00 AM–10:00 PM
The converted century-old gas station setting gives this neighborhood spot an undeniably cool and rustic character. Tycoon Flats N St Marys features a heavily planted beer garden and an expansive menu of creatively designed specialty burgers.
I spoke to a fellow parent recently who raved about their signature roasted garlic sauce, which combines onions and six different peppers for a serious flavor kick.
Indecisive diners have the fun option of ordering a flight of miniature sliders to sample multiple burger builds. Plant-based eaters can easily dig into a hearty black bean chipotle vegan burger.
The establishment also runs daily rotating beverage discounts and budget-friendly soup and salad pairings during the workweek.
Unfortunately, the kitchen enforces a strict policy against customizing or altering any ingredients on those specialty slider flights. You also cannot order the discounted combination meals if you visit on a Saturday or Sunday.

We love coming here, the burgers always hit! The wings are super good. Not going to lie I had said boneless but the waiter heard bone-in. It was SUPER GOOD ANYWAY I’m definitely going to get them again. So glad we’re moving back to that area, we love taking our family when they visit. Best part, our little fur baby can come too!

This is the best burger place I’ve ever been to. My new favorite restaurant in San Antonio, for sure. Everyone working is super nice and welcoming, the food is beyond good. The Fried Avocado burger (what I got) is amazing. It’s a cute spot, cozy and inviting, the atmosphere is homey, you just walk in and sit where you want. I came with my family and everyone was more than satisfied. Definitely give it a try if you’re in the area!

Contact: (210) 224-2337 | [email protected]
Hours: Daily 12:00 PM–12:00 AM
Busy households rarely find a venue that caters equally to devoted sports fans and active toddlers. Luckily, the Friendly Spot Ice House features a massive outdoor screen and broadcasts major NFL and NBA events.
Moreover, their full kitchen stays open until midnight daily. Thirsty parents can choose from an inventory of over three hundred distinct brews. Diners visiting early in the week can snag food discounts like half-priced nachos.
The expansive outdoor space is explicitly designed to be welcoming for energetic kids and dogs.
On the downside, their primary burger entrees require an extra fee to add French fries. Their children’s menu also relies on pre-packaged, boxed macaroni instead of a fresh pasta dish.

This is such a fun spot to chill for a bit and let your kids also get some playtime in! The little playground is so much fun. The staff are so kind and helpful. We tried quite a bit of the food and all of it was good I definitely liked the tacos the best. There are tons of beers/cider options on tap or canned along with some other mix drink options! This would be a great place to watch a game and have a fun night out with your family/friends.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 5:00 PM–12:00 AM | Friday 5:00 PM–1:00 AM | Saturday 11:00 AM–1:00 AM | Sunday 11:00 AM–12:00 AM
Pet playtime and a lively dinner go hand in hand for a uniquely dynamic family outing. The Dog Co. Icehouse features a fully enclosed playground where dogs safely roam off-leash while their owners relax nearby.
Instead of operating a static kitchen, this venue partners with various independent mobile eateries to provide a constantly rotating food menu. The business specifically highlights localized food vendors, ensuring visitors receive authentic culinary experiences.
You can easily browse a comprehensive online visual gallery to preview their upcoming events and current truck lineup.
Guests can even book a full sand volleyball court online for a quick, casual game before eating.
However, because the food trucks operate independently, their schedules and menus are completely out of the venue’s control. You should also note their strict policy of withholding refunds for court cancellations made with less than twenty-four hours’ notice.

Absolutely love this place! The food and drinks are great, and it’s such a relaxing spot for the whole family. The kids have their own playground, and the dogs get their own play area too. Great vibes, live music, and friendly people — definitely one of my favorite places in San Antonio!

We live so close to this area and had no idea this place even existed! We heard about it from another parent, and we’re so glad we checked it out. Now we have a spot where the whole family can enjoy great food, great music, and drinks—while the kids have a blast on the playground.
