The 5 Best Firms with Estate Lawyers in San Antonio Locals Recommend for Long-Term Planning

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Compassionate Communication: We looked for lawyers who treat clients like real people and not just case numbers. It’s crucial to have someone who explains dense legal concepts in plain English.

Transparent Pricing: Nobody likes surprise legal bills when setting up their family's future. We prioritized firms that offer clear flat fees or upfront cost explanations over vague hourly billing.

Specialized Expertise: A good firm needs to handle more than just basic wills. We checked if they offer specialized trusts or specific protections for vulnerable family members.

Accessibility: Life gets busy, and emergencies happen outside of standard office hours. We favored practices that offer flexible scheduling or easy ways to communicate with the actual attorneys.

Thinking about what happens to your stuff after you’re gone isn’t exactly a fun weekend activity. But setting up a solid plan is a huge relief for you and your family.

If you’re a parent wanting to protect your kids or an executor dealing with probate, having the right legal guide changes everything.

That said, finding the right attorney is not always straightforward. When I started looking for the best estate lawyer in San Antonio, I quickly realized how overwhelming the legal jargon and pricing structures can be.

This is exactly why I put together this list of top local firms. My goal is to help you compare your options and find the right fit for your family’s future.

Contact: (210) 570-2458 | [email protected]

Hailey-Petty Law Firm tackles the financial anxiety of legal planning with an empathetic, flexible cost approach. They focus heavily on education, so you’ll understand exactly what you’re paying for before signing anything.

Attorney Pamela Hailey-Petty even runs a free virtual workshop to help folks avoid major mistakes in their wills.

Furthermore, they excel at creating Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts to shield your life savings from nursing home expenses.

This structure is incredibly helpful for older clients looking at long-term care options. They even set up specific asset trusts for veterans.

On the other hand, their free initial consultation is strictly limited to new estate planning and probate clients.

Since the firm’s physical presence is limited to Austin and San Antonio, clients outside these areas should confirm whether the firm offers remote consultations and digital document options to support their needs.

Pros

  • Free 45-minute consultation for new clients
  • Flat fee billing options
  • Direct access to attorneys
  • Flexible appointment scheduling

Cons

  • Consultation limited to specific new cases
  • Only two physical office locations

My attorney was an expert in estate planning and explained everything

Attorneys and Legal Aides and all staff were top notch in their areas of expertise. My attorney was an expert in estate planning and explained everything along the way, providing me with options and helping me make the smartest decisions for my life and for my loved ones. I am grateful for the help and feeling of relief for using the Hailey-Petty law firm. Thank you!

Very friendly, warm, and supportive of my situation

I had a great experience with the attorneys at Hailey-Petty Law Firm. They were very friendly, warm, and supportive of my situation. They patiently walked me through the estate planning and living trust process. I now have peace of mind that I have the right documents in place to take care of my family in case I pass.

2. The Law Office of Yvette M. Salinas

Website: https://www.yvettesalinaslaw.com/

Address: 319 Probandt St

Contact: 210-415-4917 | Fax: 210-265-5860 | [email protected]

Hours: Available 24/7

The Law Office of Yvette M. Salinas prioritizes deep, personalized attention to make sure you never feel like just another case file.

Attorney Yvette grew up right here in San Antonio and is dedicated to serving her local community. Many of her clients praise her for taking the time to explain every single legal document thoroughly.

Her team is also quick to answer questions and adjust to your busy schedule.

Consequently, because she operates mostly as a solo practitioner, the firm’s sometimes limited in how many complex cases they can take at once.

In addition, you’ll also need to fill out a detailed questionnaire during the prep process. While it’s an extra step, this helps uncover specific family nuances you might’ve missed on your own.

They also stick strictly to property and probate law. If you suddenly need help with a complicated business tax issue, you’ll have to hire outside counsel.

Pros

  • Highly flexible scheduling
  • Thorough document explanations
  • Fast and responsive communication
  • Detailed proprietary questionnaires

Cons

  • Small team limits case volume
  • Narrow focus on estate and probate law

A very knowledgeable attorney

Me & my wife had our estate panning done with Yvette. we liked that she did not charge for the initial visit. also, she offers a package deal that saved us money.  Ms. Salinas is a very knowledgeable attorney backed by a staff with high engagement.

The cost for the services was very reasonable

Thank you so much for helping my grandpa through the process of his estate planning needs. The office is responsive, polite, and Ms. Salinas was the only attorney that was up front and honest with what would be needed during the free consultation. All the other attorneys in San Antonio were just trying to add on services without asking about what my grandpa actually had. The cost for the services were also very reasonable.

3. Weisinger Law Firm, PLLC (Professional Limited Liability Company)

Website: https://www.weisingerlawfirm.com/

Address: 17300 Henderson Pass Suite 240

Contact: (210) 985-9224

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM

Weisinger Law Firm brings a unique philosophy that focuses on keeping families united and avoiding messy conflicts during the grieving process.

They’re also one of the few local practices that explicitly advertise specialized legal services tailored to the LGBTQIA+ community. The managing attorney is actually board-certified in estate law, which is a big plus.

Their process is incredibly efficient, often wrapping up an initial meeting to sort out complex family trust questions in just over an hour.

From what I’ve seen, they really respect their client’s time, offer great resources like their own published book, and do fantastic work setting up Special Needs Trusts.

While there’s a lot to like, the firm’s strictly closed on weekends. This schedule makes it a bit tough for folks working regular weekday hours to get an appointment.

They also stick purely to estate law and can’t help with outside legal disputes.

Pros

  • Accessible via text and social media
  • Clear team transparency
  • Streamlined initial meetings
  • Broad geographic service area

Cons

  • Closed on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Does not handle outside legal issues

Treated with respect and care

I have been a client for 10 years now and have always been treated with respect and care. They assisted with the adoption of my daughter, and then through the illness and death of my father, with compassion and the legal knowledge to meet my family’s needs. I am now using the firm to provide me with estate planning which in my case is a little bit complicated. My family and myself have been and are extremely happy with Charles and his firm.

Wonderful to work with

Weisinger Law Firm has been wonderful to work with creating our Family Trusts.  We highly recommend Weisinger Law Firm to anyone who is looking for a professional and expert Estate Planning Law Firm.  Randy and Melissa B

Website: http://skeenlawfirm.com/

Address: 18756 Stone Oak Pkwy, Suite 200

Contact: (210) 202-1141 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM

Skeen Law provides a truly holistic strategy that goes way beyond basic drafting to legally integrate your entire spectrum of final affairs.

They put a massive focus on teaching families how to legally protect their generational wealth from unexpected probate issues. You can even attend their free community seminars to learn the basics.

I appreciate that they incorporate incapacity planning extensively. This setup ensures your medical decisions and assets are protected if you’re alive but unable to make choices yourself.

Adding to the convenience is their online portal, where you can pay for invoices without mailing checks.

Just keep in mind that they tend to funnel new clients toward their group educational events rather than offering an instant one-on-one booking calendar.

Also, their advertised services are quite broad and generalized. They don’t explicitly list advanced asset protection tools for high-net-worth tax sheltering.

Pros

  • Free community educational seminars
  • Transparent online FAQs
  • Convenient digital payment portal
  • Strong incapacity planning focus

Cons

  • Delayed one-on-one counsel bookings
  • Broad and generalized service listings

She took the time to explain all my questions in detail

I had the pleasure of working with attorney Amanda Skeen for estate planning and execution of Trust.  Not only is Amanda extremely knowledgeable & professional, but she also took time to explain all my questions in detail, was extremely patient as I navigated decisions and kind & compassionate.   I highly recommend Skeen Law, Amanda Skeen and her staff, for your estate planning.

Demonstrated exceptional knowledge, attention to detail, and genuine care

Ms. Amanda Skeen and her team provided outstanding assistance with our estate planning. Amanda demonstrated exceptional knowledge, attention to detail, and genuine care throughout the entire process. Their fees are fair and transparent, and we truly appreciated their professionalism and integrity. We highly recommend Ms. Skeens and her team to anyone seeking expert guidance in estate planning.

5. The Voeller Law Firm

Website: https://www.voellerlaw.com/

Address: 19311 FM 2252

Contact: 210-985-2741

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00AM–5:00PM

The Voeller Law Firm brings impressive authority to the table, with over 70 years of combined legal experience. Jim Voeller, the founder, is a certified specialist in estate law.

They’re well known for being committed to helping families preserve their wealth across multiple generations.

What I appreciate most is how they prioritize clear and accessible communication. For instance, they never charge for phone calls, so you can reach out with questions without worrying about extra fees.

They also provide DVD copies of your legal documents for secure physical storage, and the turnaround times are very fast compared to many other firms.

That said, their physical location is isolated to a single office. This might be a tough commute if you live on the opposite side of town.

Additionally, their online contact forms require a lot of mandatory personal information, which can easily deter people who just want to ask a quick, anonymous question.

Pros

  • Never bills clients for phone calls
  • Free initial consultations
  • Fast document turnaround times
  • Provides DVD copies of documents

Cons

  • Only one physical office location
  • Strict mandatory online contact forms

Every step was well-explained

We chose this law firm on the recommendation of good friends who have used their services for year. We were not disappointed as this was a very professional experience. Every step was well-explained and questions were always welcomed. We highly recommend The Voeller Law Firm for your estate planning needs.

Attorney Jim Voeller was both thorough and concise

Attorney Jim Voeller was both thorough and concise. He knew exactly which questions to ask and what information was needed to prepare our estate plan. They say you don’t know what you don’t know, but after working with Jim, I am confidant we understand all the ins and outs of our plan. Thank you Voeller Law for making this difficult process easy.
