We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range: I looked for facilities offering a comprehensive mix of daycare playgroups and boarding options. This variety ensures that busy owners can handle multiple pet care needs in one convenient location.

Pricing & Packages: I prioritized daycares that provide flexible choices like day passes and membership packages. Long-term daycare deals make regular socialization more accessible for frequent travelers and daily commuters.

Specialist Approach: I checked for structured playtime and temperament-based groupings that support safe socialization. Facilities that carefully evaluate each dog before placing them in a playgroup scored highly in my review.

Location & Accessibility: I focused on convenient San Antonio locations with easy parking and smooth drop-off access. A simple morning routine matters when you are rushing to work or heading to the airport.

Staff Credentials: I checked whether trained pet care staff with dog behavior experience are watching each group. I also looked for safety training and active supervision throughout the day.

1. Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa

lucys-doggy-daycare-and-spa

Website: lucysdoggydaycare.com

Address: 937 S Laredo St

Contact: (726) 223-2071

Hours:

● Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM – 8:00 PM

● Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Keeping an energetic dog entertained while you work takes more than just space. Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa offers a lively and supervised environment with a large play park, agility equipment, and walk-in pools.

When I brought in an active retriever, he quickly headed for the water features and clearly enjoyed cooling off while playing. They also separate play areas by size, which helps smaller dogs socialize safely.

On top of that, their self-serve wash stations make it easy to clean up your dog before heading home. The staff also stays attentive and actively monitors each group to make sure dogs get proper care throughout the day.

However, the busy atmosphere during peak morning drop-offs can feel a bit overwhelming for more timid pets. If your dog prefers a quieter setting, a pet sitter may be a better fit.

Pros

  • Walk-in pools for cooling off
  • Separates play areas by dog size
  • Self-serve wash stations and grooming
  • Experienced staff monitors groups

Cons

  • Busy peak drop-offs

I can’t thank this crew enough
We recently boarded our 14 yr old puppy with Lucy’s. They took such great care of him. Providing us with detailed updates and ended his stay with a bath. San Antonio received freezing weather and Lucy’s made sure to send notification they would ensure pets at their facility were safe. I can’t thank this crew enough. Thank you for taking such great care of Chacho for us. We appreciate it.

It was great

My son & I took our little furries to the downtown location to use the self washing facilities. After a fun time at the doggie park. It was great, they provide everything, towels, soap, conditioner, ear cleaning solution, brushes blow dryer, nail trimmers & a cool apron so we didn’t get soaked. The counter guy was supper cool & the place was so clean. A bit pricey for self service but I’d do it again. I wish the 1604 cocation offered this service. We’ll be back.

I love Camp Bow WOW
I love Camp Bow WOW, but most importantly, my Boxer Molly loves it there! She always gets excellent care, and the staff is so good to her! I can always tell when I pick her up that she has had fun, and when I drop her off, she happily goes with them! If you need a fine place to board your dog, Camp Bow Wow is that place. We use the facility on Jones Maltsberger in San Antonio.

3. Hounds Town – San Antonio – Northeast

hounds-town-san-antonio-northeast

Website: houndstownusa.com

Address: 13215 Judson Rd, Suite 101

Contact: (210) 812-4806

Hours:

● Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM

● Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

● Sunday: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Proper dog socialization depends on careful observation and the right group dynamics. Hounds Town focuses on this by creating structured playgroups that follow natural canine behavior, without separating dogs by breed.

I heard from a neighbor who brings her rescue dog there, and she appreciated how the staff focuses on each dog’s temperament when assigning groups. They’re all trained in CPR and closely supervise the dogs to maintain a calm and balanced environment.

They also make space for nap times in private townhomes, which helps prevent overstimulation. For added convenience, you can request a deluxe bath before picking up your dog.

However, one thing to keep in mind is their midday lobby closure. While they support rest time for the dogs, they do limit drop-off and pick-up flexibility during the early afternoon.

Pros

  • CPR-trained staff manage pack assignments
  • Designated nap times in private townhomes
  • Offers deluxe baths and spa services
  • Evaluates dogs individually by temperament

Cons

  • Midday lobby closure

4. Good Dog Boarding & Walks

good-dog-boarding-walks

Website: gooddogatpearl.com

Address: 132 W Grayson St, Suite 150

Contact: (210) 600-3302

Hours:

● Monday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM

● Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Owners of small dogs often worry about their pets being overwhelmed by larger, more energetic animals. Good Dog Boarding and Walks provides a calm, safe space tailored for small dogs under 35 pounds or 15 inches tall.

By limiting their space to smaller breeds only, they reduce the risk of accidental injuries during group play. They also keep group sizes small by limiting overall capacity, which allows for more one-on-one attention from caregivers.

During rest time, dogs stay in custom kennels with half-slotted gates that promote good airflow and comfort.

Their facility also has around-the-clock security monitoring and active fire alarms, which provide extra peace of mind.

However, these strict size requirements mean households with both large and small dogs can’t bring all their pets to one location.

Pros

  • Restricts enrollment to smaller breeds
  • Limits overall suite capacity
  • Custom kennels feature half-slotted gates
  • Monitored by 24/7 security systems

Cons

  • Small-dog-only size limits

Customer Reviews:

The quality of service is impeccable
Good Dog has been my saving grace more than a few times. The quality of service is impeccable, the price is great for what they offer and they couldn’t be sweeter with my pups. I work long hours and often times they will just show up within an hour and give the dogs a walk if I’m gonna be late coming home from work. I could not be happier with their team and services!

Staff is beyond friendly
My dog Miso started attending daycare last week at Good Dog at the Pearl. Staff is beyond friendly and takes time to know the dogs. Everyday my dog was greeted by name by multiple employees. I can truly trust that my dog is safe and well taken care of. Plus they post on social which helps give me peace of mind and see what fun activities she’s doing during her stay.

Our dog always has the best time with them

We board our dog here every time we travel. This last trip we forgot to bring his slow feeder. Often times without it, he will vomit up his food. They remembered that he usually has a slow feeder and loaned him one for meals. I didn’t even realize we had forgotten it until pickup. It gave me such peace of mind that they just found a solution and we didn’t even have to worry about it. I would recommend Tails are Wagging to anyone. Our dog always has the best time with them.

This place is amazing!
I love Tails Are Wagging! This place is amazing! The place is clean and the staff are friendly especially the two lovely ladies who are at the front desk. The price is reasonable as well and they offer 10% military discount also! I just had my fur baby stayed there for 9 nights and they treated her really well, and she cleaned and smelled really nice when we picked her up. We can tell she had a lot of fun cause she passed out as soon as we got home 😊
