Best Daycare San Antonio: Top 5 Trusted Childcare Centers

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range: We looked at the specific types of care each facility provides for local families. A good center should offer everything from infant rooms to active preschool programs.

Pricing & Packages: Childcare expenses take a huge bite out of a family budget. We prioritized centers offering flexible daily and weekly plans to suit different financial needs.

Specialist Approach: Young minds need a healthy mix of play-based learning and structured development. We checked how each center builds its early childhood education curriculum.

Location & Accessibility: A tedious morning commute ruins your whole day. We selected places with convenient drop-off zones and extended operating hours for busy working parents.

Staff Credentials: The people watching your kids matter more than the fancy toys. We ensured these centers employ licensed caregivers and highly trained educators.

Leaving your little one in someone else’s hands is a massive step, and it is natural to want a place that feels like a second home where they can play, learn, and feel secure. That’s why finding the right daycare San Antonio offers can feel overwhelming at first.

I remember touring countless centers with a clipboard full of questions, trying to figure out which environments truly prioritized both safety and development.

To help you avoid that same headache, I asked my team to help me narrow down the top local childcare centers in the city. The ones who made our list offer bright classrooms, attentive teachers, and supportive environments for growing families.

1. The Nest Schools San Antonio

Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM

The Nest Schools San Antonio focuses on early childhood development through a mix of structured play and early learning. The goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where kids can build both cognitive and social skills.

We recently visited and noticed how engaged the children were in the outdoor play area, which had a really positive, active energy.

The leadership team brings a lot of experience, and that shows in the day-to-day atmosphere. Everything feels consistent and welcoming.

They also offer before- and after-school care, which is helpful for families with older children as well.

For parents looking for a dependable preschool in San Antonio, the center offers a dependable program that’s worth looking into.

That said, demand is high because of their community-focused programs. You may need to join a waitlist well in advance to secure a spot, which can be frustrating.

Many families we spoke with, though, feel the quality makes it worth the wait.

Pros

  • Experienced leadership staff
  • Convenient before and after-school care
  • Dedicated summer camp programs
  • Positive daily interactions

Cons

  • High waitlist demand
  • Limited immediate availability

KinderCare at Gulbeau Is a fantastic daycare center. I pulled my son out of the pillars. They care because they were just a nightmare. Since the transition from builders to KinderCare, it’s been nothing but a wonderful experience. The center is clean, they provide updates through the application and they’re very lenient and collaborative with my son’s needs. I recommend KinderCare if you’re looking for a great experience for your child not only when it comes to safety measures, but also with phonics and cooking. It is an extra expense but worth it.

I love The Nest Schools! I had been searching for a new daycare for a while and I’m so glad I found it!! The staff is so friendly and always have a smile. You can tell they really care for the kids.  The Director Sarah is amazing! She was very responsive and so helpful in answering all my questions. The school is super clean and organized. I love the curriculum and the activities, as well as the playground for the kids.  My daughter is always looking forward to going to The Nest. I definitely recommend The Nest Schools. 🙂

2. My Little Team Texas Daycare

Website: http://www.mylittleteamtexasdaycare.com/

Address: 15415 APPLEWHITE RD, Suite #102

Contact: (210) 628-1242

Hours: Monday – Friday 5:30 AM – 6:00 PM

My Little Team Texas Daycare is built with working families in mind, especially those with non-traditional schedules.

They offer flexible, extended hours that make childcare easier to manage when shifts don’t follow a typical routine. Parents with demanding work hours often mention how much they appreciate the center’s early opening hours.

At the same time, they keep a strong focus on school readiness to help children prepare for kindergarten. Their curriculum is designed to build early academic skills while keeping kids engaged throughout the day.

Inside, the 4,000-square-foot facility gives kids plenty of room for active indoor play. You can also choose between full-day care and drop-in options, which are helpful if your schedule changes from week to week.

One thing to consider is the location. The center is situated on the far south side, which may feel out of the way for families in other parts of the metro area.

Pros

  • Early opening and second-shift hours
  • Massive 4,000-square-foot indoor facility
  • Flexible drop-in and half-day options
  • Tailored school readiness curriculum

Cons

  • Inconvenient for northern neighborhoods

I absolutely love this daycare for my kids!!. My older girls (4 & 7)  have been going here for 2 years and my son started when he was 3 months old. They come home everyday learning something new, and excited to go back the next day!. the staff are amazing with all the kids, and the communication with the staff and director are great. I highly recommend the daycare!!

3. Imagination Child Development Center 1

Website: https://www.imaginationcdc.com/

Address: 1430 Sava St Suite 111

Contact: (210) 627-9712, [email protected]

Hours: Mon – Fri: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm

Imagination Child Development Center 1 focuses on helping young children reach early milestones through a curriculum built around imaginative play.

The environment feels close-knit and community-oriented, which can make it easier for families to feel comfortable and connected. Over time, that sense of familiarity helps build trust with both staff and other parents.

Their weekday schedule lines up well with typical work hours, making drop-offs and pick-ups easier to manage.

The teachers provide structured daily habits that successfully help young children transition into formal schooling. If you ever consider enrolling your child in a specialized art school in San Antonio later, this creative foundation helps immensely.

That said, the strong focus on imaginative play means there’s less emphasis on strict academic drills. Families looking for a more traditional, highly academic approach may find the style a bit relaxed.

Pros

  • Accessible weekday schedules
  • Deep focus on creative development
  • Trusted local community network
  • Structured daily transition routines

Cons

  • Fewer traditional academic drills
  • Highly relaxed environment

I was super nervous about daycare when I first took my baby. Id heard so many horrible stories. A friend of mine suggested Imagination Child Development and her baby was enrolled.  I have been so happy. They have an app to see how your baby has been, the staff is all so friendly and patient and my baby loved her teachers and friends. We’re moving and I can only hope to find a place comparable.

We will miss everyone <3

4. Heimer KinderCare

Website: https://www.kindercare.com/our-centers/san-antonio/tx/000359

Address: 14230 Cross Cyn

Contact: (210) 490-0187

Hours: Monday – Friday 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM

Heimer KinderCare combines a well-established national curriculum with a focus on personalized care. Their approach balances early academics with social and emotional development, helping children build confidence alongside basic learning skills.

A friend of mine sends her toddler here and often mentions how engaged and attentive the teaching staff are.

The center accepts infants as young as 6 weeks and supports older, school-aged children. It’s a convenient option for families with kids of different ages.

They offer a 12-hour daily schedule, giving parents some breathing room when traffic or work delays come up.

Another helpful feature is their rolling enrollment, so you don’t have to wait for a specific start date during the year.

Since it’s part of a large national organization, it may not have the same small, boutique feel you’d find at a locally owned center. Even so, the leadership team still makes outdoor play and hands-on activities a priority alongside structured lessons.

Pros

  • Accepts infants through school-aged kids
  • Extended 12-hour operating window
  • Convenient rolling enrollment policy
  • Experienced directors and teaching staff

Cons

  • Lacks an individualized boutique feel
  • Less intimate corporate structure

I cannot say enough good things about KinderCare!! The staff here is phenomenal and go above and beyond to take care of my sweet baby girl. My first ever daycare experience was a complete nightmare so when searching for something else, I was very hesitant. Katie and Lisa eased my mind and worries and I have not looked back since enrolling my daughter! I highly recommended Heimer KinderCare. You will not be disappointed. Katie, Lisa, and staff, thank you for all you have done for my sweet Elizabeth! I appreciate every single one of you!

We have had such a great experience here at Heimer KinderCare. I’ve been into and toured plenty of daycares and this one stood out to me. The teachers here are happy, the daycare is clean, and the communication with Katie, the director is amazing. I highly recommend stopping in and seeing how amazing this daycare is for yourself.

5. Immersion Montessori Academy

Website: https://iimaeducation.com/

Address: 1539 E Sandalwood Ln

Contact: (210) 233-9771

Hours: Monday – Friday 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Immersion Montessori Academy offers a full Spanish language immersion program within a traditional Montessori setting. The goal is to help children develop bilingual skills naturally while building an appreciation for different cultures from an early age.

Teachers follow a well-rounded approach that supports cognitive growth and encourages independent learning.

Along the way, they mix in creative activities like singing and painting, which help reinforce lessons in a fun and engaging way.

The low student-to-teacher ratio also means kids get more individualized attention throughout the day.

Outdoor learning is another highlight, giving children regular chances to explore and connect with nature.

That said, the full bilingual immersion model can feel intimidating for some families. It may not be the best fit if you’re looking strictly for an English-only program.

Pros

  • Comprehensive Spanish language immersion
  • Low student-to-teacher ratio
  • Creative arts integration
  • Engaging outdoor learning

Cons

  • No English-only curriculum
  • Strict bilingual model

We started our 2 year old as soon as the school opened and I’d was the perfect place for our daughter to start school. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. Our daughter loves going to school and. I have noticed her using more words in Spanish than before. Ms. Nina, the director, always send pictures! I also like that I don’t have to worry about snacks or lunch since it is provided. Highly recommend!

Immersion Montessori Academy has been amazing for our two year old! The teachers are kind, nurturing and so patient. Miss. Anna and Ms. Nina have been wonderful in helping my son adjust and me as well to this new journey. Throughout the day, I receive updates and pictures, which helps me feel calm and at peace during my work hours.
