One of the last times I went out for a round of miniature golf, the course looked like a post-apocalyptic putt-putt wasteland. The course was patchy, threadbare green and looked like it hadn’t seen a lawnmower since the Jurassic period.
The “water hazards” were stagnant puddles teeming with who-knows-what. Half the obstacles were either broken or missing and offered no challenge whatsoever.
One hole even featured a “windmill” with blades that stubbornly refused to turn. It was less a game and more an exercise in frustration and mild disgust.
Since that disastrous day, I’ve checked out various mini golf courses with friends in the city. If you want to avoid that disaster, here are the best miniature golf courses I’ve found here in San Antonio!
1. Holey Moley Golf Club San Antonio

Address: 849 E Commerce St #171

- Monday to Thursday – 11 AM to 11 PM
- Friday & Saturday – 11 AM to 12 Midnight
- Sunday – 11 AM to 10 PM
Phone: +1 726-762-0628

Holey Moley is, hands down, the most Instagrammable game of putt-putt I’ve ever played. Each of their 27 holes is full of excitement and aesthetics that leave an impression.
One of my favorites is their “MAKIN’ IT RAIN” hole—you actually putt your ball into a money machine! It’s so over-the-top and fun.
Then there’s “MORNING TEE WITH GRANNY,” which is just pure, hilarious chaos. Trying to navigate around Granny’s gadgets and then aiming for her bedpan? You can’t make this stuff up.
Honestly, every hole is a surprise, and you find yourself constantly saying, “Wait, what is this?”
Plus, having the Caddyshack bar right there is clutch. You can actually grab a specialty cocktail while you wait for your turn, which definitely keeps things lively.
Pro Tip: If you’re planning a bachelorette party, this is THE spot. They have personal caddies to cater to you and your crew and private event spaces to keep the celebration going.
2. PopStroke

Hours:
- Monday to Wednesday, Sunday – 9 AM to 11 PM
- Thursday to Saturday – 9 AM to 12 Midnight

PopStroke has completely flipped the script on mini-golf. They have two full 18-hole courses with synthetic fairways, tricky bunkers, and unpredictable rough patches.
But what I really love is how tech-forward they are. You can actually order drinks right from your phone using their app, and they bring them to you on the course!
Plus, keeping score electronically is so much easier than trying to remember who got what on a tiny scorecard.
Honestly, the vibe is just cool all throughout this place—they have big screens and TVs everywhere, so it feels more like a modern entertainment spot than just a mini-golf course.
Pro Tip: For a memorable graduation party, PopStroke offers a graduation package that includes your choice of two courses, tons of great food, and a really celebratory atmosphere.

If you’re into a mini-golf experience that’s anything but ordinary, give Monster Mini Golf a go.
What I really dig about this place is the whole vibe—the blacklights make everything glow, and the music and disco balls just add to the fun. They have these awesome, hand-painted monster scenes that are actually inspired by our city, and the monsters themselves are hilarious!
Some of them move and make noise, and yeah, some of their jokes are pretty corny, but that’s part of the charm. It’s just a really fun, energetic atmosphere that makes you feel like a kid again.
Pro Tip: Monster Mini Golf is available for field trips! With all the glowing stuff, the monsters, and the chance to win prizes, kids will look forward to it.
4. Cosmic Mayhem: Black Light Mini Golf and Bar
Website

- Monday & Tuesday, Thursday & Friday – 5 PM to Midnight
- Saturday – 1 PM to Midnight
- Sunday – 1 PM to 11 PM

The whole Cosmic Mayhem is decked out in black lights and a space theme. You’re putting your way around giant glowing alien heads and trying to navigate past these planetary obstacles—it’s way more engaging than just your standard course.
I remember one hole that felt like you were putting into a black hole; the ball literally vanished for a second. And the black lights really make everything pop with their vibrant use of colors.
And having a fully stocked bar right there means you can grab a drink and just chill out between holes or after you’re done.
Pro Tip: Try the axe-throwing at Cosmic Mayhem. They have different games, like zombie hunting and traditional targets, and you can still enjoy drinks and snacks from the bar while you’re channeling your inner lumberjack.
5. Cool Crest Miniature Golf Course

Hours:
- Thursday & Friday – 5 PM to 10 PM
- Saturday – 10 AM to 10 PM
- Sunday – Noon to 6 PM

Cool Crest is one of the oldest mini-golf courses in the world. What I really appreciate is that they have two completely different 18-hole courses, the “Old Course” (1929) and the “New Course” (1959). It never gets boring, and you can definitely tell the difference in their design.
The courses are known for embracing the classic Art Deco vibe, especially on the “Old Course.” With the clean white concrete, stylish black lights, and teal benches, it’s got a real charm you don’t see at newer places.
And the landscaping is just gorgeous. All those lush, tropical plants, especially the banana plants, make it feel like a little oasis.
Pro Tip: After you’ve conquered the mini-golf courses, or even while you’re taking a break, make sure to check out the Metzger Biergarten right there on-site. They often have live music, so you can grab a cold drink and enjoy some music.
6. Embassy Miniature Golf

Address: 500 Embassy Oaks
Hours:
- Wednesday & Thursday – 3 PM to 9 PM
- Friday – 3 PM to 10 PM
- Saturday – 10 AM to 10 PM
Phone: +1 210-496-5847

Embassy Miniature Golf feels like you’ve stumbled into a little tropical escape right in the middle of San Antonio. They’re not kidding about the “tropical paradise”—with” all the lush greenery and the sound of waterfalls, you actually do forget you’re surrounded by the city.
It’s refreshing that you won’t find any of those cheesy windmills or clown faces here. Instead, it’s a really beautiful and classic mini-golf course. All 18 holes are surrounded by greenery, rivers, streams, and yes—mini waterfalls.
Kids love the animal mascots—Ellie the Elephant and Puttinia the Giraffe. But the “Animals and Friends Score Card” is what really makes it special for kids as they try to spot all the animals around the course.
Pro Tip: If you’re involved with a school or non-profit looking for a unique way to raise money, Embassy Miniature Golf hosts fundraisers for all ages and has hosted the “Puttin’ for Pink” event for many years, which shows their commitment to the community.

Green Acres is the kind of place you go when your group can’t agree on just one thing to do—and that’s exactly why I like it. It’s not just a mini-golf course; it’s a whole entertainment hub.
I remember one time we went, and after a round of mini-golf (which was a decent course, by the way, with some fun little challenges), some of us hit the go-karts for a race while others cooled off on the bumper boats.
So, you’re covered if half your crew wants to putt around and the other half is itching for some speed.
Pro Tip: If you’re heading there with your significant other, definitely check out their Couples Special for $36. You get two rounds of mini-golf, two go-kart driver tickets, and even some game room tokens.
