We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Menu Flexibility: A great culinary team needs to seamlessly adapt to diverse tastes and strict dietary restrictions.

We looked for businesses that gladly modify their offerings for vegan or culturally specific requests without compromising on flavor.

Experience and Reputation: The length of time a company has spent in the chaotic event industry speaks volumes about its reliability.

We prioritized dedicated teams with a proven track record of handling high-pressure wedding environments beautifully.

Quality of Ingredients: Exceptional reception meals always start with the very best components available in the local market.

We focused on culinary professionals who prioritize fresh produce and genuinely scratch-made items over frozen alternatives.

Service Comprehensiveness: Engaged couples often need much more than just a simple food drop-off for their big day.

We highlighted vendors that offer full-service logistical support, including professional waitstaff and thorough post-event cleanup.

Communication and Support: Planning a massive celebration requires constant coordination and swift responses from your chosen vendors.

We evaluated how easily clients could reach these professionals to finalize intricate details and adjust their custom menus.

Organizing a beautiful reception dinner is arguably one of the most exciting, yet daunting, parts of planning your celebration.

Food brings people together, and serving an unforgettable meal sets the entire tone for an evening of joy with your closest family and friends.

If you want your guests to leave raving about the cuisine rather than sneaking out for fast food, finding the right culinary partner is absolutely essential.

To help you navigate the local culinary scene, I’ve narrowed down the top choices so you can confidently book the best wedding caterer in San Antonio for your unique event.

Address: 7421 Callaghan Rd

Contact: (210) 349-4040; (210) 605-5570 (Text); [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Sunday 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Walk-ins until 5:00 PM; Sundays by appointment only)

Finding a vendor with true staying power is rare, but this family-owned operation has brought over 25 years of direct culinary experience to the local community since 1998.

Four Sisters Catering makes absolutely everything from scratch, right down to the salad dressings and dessert crusts, ensuring a truly comforting dining experience.

I recently attended a reception where they handled the menu, and the scratch-made sauces alone were enough to win me over while I watched the wedding photographers capture the joyous evening.

To keep everything running smoothly, a staff member is physically present at every single catered event to oversee the execution.

The executive chef, bringing over 45 years of elite expertise, crafts an impressive array of global flavors ranging from Mediterranean to classic American fare.

However, getting a weekend consultation can be slightly difficult since they only take Sunday meetings by appointment, which might frustrate busy couples trying to squeeze in a quick walk-in visit.

Pros

  • Executive Chef has over 45 years of expertise
  • Dedicated on-staff wedding planner available
  • 25 years of direct culinary experience

Cons

  • Sundays strictly by appointment only

It was a pleasure working with Nicole throughout the planning process — she made everything smooth and stress-free. On the day of the wedding, Tiffini ensured everything ran seamlessly, and we truly appreciated her attention to detail (and sense of humor). We received so many compliments on the food — everything was delicious and beautifully presented!

Four Sisters Catering, catered our Daughter’s wedding. We had a small, intimate gathering and Four Sister’s Catering was absolutely perfect ! Nicole and her staff prepared the Chicken Chardonnay which was absolutely delicious ! From the initial contact to the curb side delivery everything was impeccable ! Professional, personable and the food is 5 star worthy. Highly Recommend! Thank you Nicole, you were a pleasure to meet!

Nothing eases the stress of wedding planning quite like knowing exactly what your guests will be eating before you sign a contract.

That is exactly why I appreciate Heavenly Gourmet Catering. They offer complimentary food tastings to help you feel completely confident in your menu selections.

They also maintain a dedicated partnership with a specific Hill Country venue, The Oaks at Heavenly, which simplifies the coordination between the dining service and the physical space.

Instead of vague pricing, we love that they utilize specialized tier menus intentionally designed to fit various event budgets and specific dining requirements.

Founded by local culinary expert Loretta Marino Ortiz, who established the company’s five-star reputation, this team operates under a highly praised model that locals deeply trust.

The only real downside is their lack of weekend office hours, making it tricky for folks who work full-time during the week to schedule an in-person planning session.

Pros

  • Offers complimentary food tastings
  • Partners with Oaks at Heavenly
  • Specialized tier menus
  • Founded by local culinary expert
  • Five-star reputation

Cons

  • Zero standard weekend office hours for consultations

Love love them! We first experienced them at the Bridal Expo, and ended up hiring them for our wedding. The food was beyond amazing, the service was also so great, and all the people we came in contact with were super professional! The late night Mac and cheese bar was a total hit! I would recommend this food and service for any big occasion!!! Thank you Heavenly Gourmet!

We booked HG as our caterer for our wedding held at The Oaks at Heavenly. The tasting went well, they were reasonably priced and the food was hot and AMAZING. We had the Garden Salad, Heavenly Chicken with Poblano sauce, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans with bacon, rolls and the Panini as a late night snack. My guests loved all of the food especially the panini which was yummy! They even provided meal options for a few guests who were Vegetarian/Vegan and this was also good! Thank you for the yummy food and your kindness and professionalism!

When you want your reception dinner to feel like a high-end restaurant experience, securing a team led by a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) graduate makes a massive difference.

Spice of Life Catering brings that elite technical expertise to the table, and they even own a restored 1920s historic estate called The Veranda to offer seamless venue integration.

I actually had a long chat with a friend who hired them for a massive gala, and they confirmed the staff managed the large crowd flawlessly while the videographers filmed the grand entrance.

Embracing a fully boutique philosophy, they completely avoid generic meals by building every custom menu from the ground up based on your exact vision.

They also act as a complete turn-key logistical partner, handling the certified bar service and fine-dining utensils so you can simply relax.

Just keep in mind that their personalized approach means they have limited availability during peak seasons, requiring you to book them well in advance.

Pros

  • Led by a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) graduate
  • Elite technical expertise
  • Owns a historic venue
  • Builds custom menu based on client preference
  • Turn-key logistical partner

Cons

  • Limited capacity during peak wedding seasons

Contact: (210) 545-2249; [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Thursday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Saturday 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM; Sunday Closed

Operating locally since 1992, Anne Marie’s Catering & Events leans on decades of venue navigation experience to ensure your big day unfolds without a hitch.

They’re incredibly accommodating financially, offering specific payment plans to qualified clients to help soften the blow of large event expenses.

If you have a very specific culinary vision, you’ll appreciate how they step away from set lists to craft entirely custom dishes like elaborate Mediterranean spreads.

Their team handles the food beautifully while seamlessly managing the flow of the dining room to keep guests happy.

Flexibility is the name of the game here, with the vendor providing both a dedicated event center and a fully mobile kitchen for off-site setups.

Unfortunately, they’re completely closed on several major holidays throughout the year, meaning you’ll need to look elsewhere if you’re planning a festive holiday weekend wedding.

Pros

  • Mobile kitchen available for cooking fresh food off-site
  • Decades of experience in the industry
  • Offers specific payment plans aligned to the client’s budget
  • Crafts custom menus
  • Good food handling and management

Cons

  • Completely closed on several major public holidays

Customer Reviews

We had our wedding reception catered there this past weekend.

It could not have turned out any better. Matthew and the whole staff was very accommodating and gave us 1st class service all night. The room was decorated beautifully and the food was great! We really feel like we got our money’s worth and we would recommend them to anyone that wants a great event at a reasonable price.

Anne Marie’s catered our daughter and son-in-law’s recent wedding reception at the McNay in San Antonio, TX. I can’t even imagine a caterer that could have done a better job! We were planning this event from out-of-state, and their ideas, responsiveness, products, and service both during the planning stages and during the event were greatly appreciated by us, the newly married couple, and our guests, who gave us so many compliments on the service, the appetizers, the meal, the bartenders, and the late night meal options. Worry-free, and very well done! You won’t regret hiring this team!

5. Chef Junction

Website: http://www.chefjunction.com/

Address: 1811 S Laredo St

Contact: 210-429-0798; [email protected]

Hours: Available 24/7

Operating with a team of diverse culinary artists instead of just one head chef, Chef Junction covers a truly staggering range of global flavor profiles and cooking techniques.

They specialize in international cuisines spanning from Middle Eastern to Caribbean, ensuring your custom menu is as adventurous as you desire.

By focusing on a highly curated concierge approach, they design personalized dining experiences rooted in the philosophy of commensality, the beautiful act of eating together to strengthen relationships.

Every dish is a conversation starter, meticulously plated to look as good as it tastes for your guests.

The main drawback is their strict reliance on seasonal ingredients, meaning that specific dish requests are entirely dependent on agricultural availability and cannot be guaranteed months in advance.

Pros

  • Exceptional presentation standards for reception dinners
  • Highly authentic menus curated by regional specialists

Cons

  • Specific dishes dependent on seasonal availability

Customer Reviews

I highly recommend Chef Junction catering services. They are superior. I consulted with Chef Juan when first looking for a caterer. After describing what my husband wanted for his military retirement ceremony and reception, Chef Juan helped form a theme for the menu and for how the event could flow. The food was outstanding and the wait staff and bartender were friendly, courteous and very proficient. All our guests raved about the beauty and taste of the food. It was a lovely event and so much credit goes to Chef Junction!

I was invited to a Wedding Reception at a friends home and wow I was surprised that Chef Junction and team were there. The menu was fantastic and the presentation was excellent. We had Tenderloins as our entre’’ and it was prepared to perfection. It was so well seasoned and tender. I usually cook a meat until it’s so well done it’s lost the flavor but Chef Juan cooked it medium rare and it was the best. If I ever have the chance, I would definitely use his services.
