We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Authenticity and Methods: I prioritized places utilizing traditional cooking methods and fresh ingredients. Establishments with deep cultural roots often deliver the most genuine flavors.

Menu Variety: A strong restaurant needs a diverse menu to satisfy different cravings. I looked for menus balancing popular street foods alongside complex curries.

Dining Experience: The atmosphere heavily impacts how much you enjoy a meal out. I evaluated the service speed and the overall vibe of the dining room.

Value for Money: Excellent food should not require emptying your wallet completely. I examined portion sizes relative to their price tags to ensure fair pricing.

San Antonio’s food scene is full of bold flavors, and Thai cuisine stands out with its mix of spice and freshness. From balanced pad Thai to vibrant street-food-style dishes, there is no shortage of meals that keep people coming back for more.

What makes Thai dining in the city especially exciting is the variety, from casual neighborhood spots to more refined restaurants ideal for a relaxed night out. It’s the kind of experience often highlighted alongside local favorites from local tour operators.

If you’re not sure where to go, you’ve come to the right place. I already explored the city’s Thai restaurants to find the ones that consistently stand out for flavor, freshness, and overall experience.

Address: 1709 Badcock Rd

Contact: (210) 341-0606

Hours: Monday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Nothing beats a meal that feels like it was cooked in a family kitchen. Thai Restaurant has been part of the neighborhood since 1996, and it still relies on authentic techniques and fresh sauces.

Their deep roots in the city really show in the quality of their traditional flavors. You can definitely feel the emphasis on community and culture when you eat their food.

I personally recommend ordering direct takeout because you save money on fees while still getting a piping hot meal delivered to your door.

Just be aware that the service side of things can be a bit hit-or-miss. During peak hours, the staff can sometimes be a little inattentive, and ingredient freshness might fluctuate slightly from day to day.

Pros

  • Authentic home-style cooking methods
  • Established neighborhood presence
  • Direct online ordering discounts
  • Convenient parking and reservations

Cons

  • Inconsistent service experiences
  • Food freshness varies occasionally

Authentic Thai dishes

The food is so delicious and fresh! I drive by many bigger restaurants and always wonder why they don’t come to Thai Restaurant!! It’s cozy. The chef makes authentic Thai dishes. I’ve been eating here for years.

Large portions for a reasonable price

I’ve been going to Thai Restaurant for years and the food is always on point. Large portions for a reasonable price with very tasty everything. The service is accommodating with a traditional flair. If you are looking for Asian cuisine, stop and look no further

2. Sawasdee Thai Cuisine

Website: https://sawasdeesa.com/

Address: 6407 Blanco Road, Castle Hills

Contact: (210) 979-9110

Hours:

  • Lunch Specials – Tuesday to Friday:  11:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Full Menu
    • Tuesday to Friday:  5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
    • Saturday & Sunday:  12:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Sawasdee Thai Cuisine relies on family recipes and fresh ingredients for every single meal. It’s honestly great to find a spot that cooks everything strictly to order and can really elevate dinner plans.

Their menu features classic pad thai alongside refreshing papaya salads. They also refuse to operate like a fast food joint, so you can tell that the spring rolls and sauces are made entirely in-house.

Plus, the staff encourages you to customize your spice levels or any dietary requests. This flexibility makes it a great choice for picky eaters or anyone with specific allergies.

However, this dedication to made-to-order cooking comes with a noticeable downside during peak service. Expect longer wait times for your food, and occasionally, a minor ingredient might go missing from a complex order.

Pros

  • Authentic family-passed recipes
  • Fresh chef-selected ingredients
  • Extensive and customizable menu
  • Welcoming family-friendly atmosphere

Cons

  • Longer food preparation times
  • Occasional order accuracy issues

Customer Reviews:

Great service

I usually judge a Thai place by its Larb. Man o man is this place good. I really enjoyed the Larb, the spring roll and the Tom Kha Chicken. When you say hot or spicy they actually make it spicy. I cant tell you how hard that is to find. The interior isn’t fancy, this is more like a mom and pop with a bigger dining area. Great service and things are made to order.

Flavors were so rich

We’ve dined at Sawasdee multiple times, and it never disappoints. This time, I ordered the Panang curry while my husband had the seafood curry-both were incredible. We went with level 3 spice, and it definitely brought the heat (yes, we were sweating), but the flavors were so rich and well-balanced that it was worth every bite. The curry was creamy, fragrant, and packed with depth, just how it should be.

The seafood was fresh and generously portioned.

Consistently great service and quality- Sawasdee has earned its spot as our go-to Thai restaurant.

Watching your meal come together adds a fantastic visual element to an evening out, and Thai Curry Restaurant really delivers on that experience.

They feature an exhibition-style kitchen that pairs perfectly with their commitment to using exceptionally fresh ingredients. This open setup creates a lively and energetic atmosphere while you wait for your food.

We stopped by for a quick lunch recently and were genuinely impressed by how fast the wait staff worked. They kept my glass full and delivered my tamarind specialty dish in record time.

On top of that, the bold and creative flavors definitely set them apart from standard takeout joints.

Despite the gorgeous presentation and swift service, the actual flavor profiles can sometimes miss the mark. A few dishes suffer from inconsistent preparation, leaving diners feeling like the price point does not entirely match the plate.

Pros

  • Fresh and high-quality ingredients
  • Engaging exhibition-style kitchen
  • Fast and friendly staff
  • Creative tamarind-based specialties

Cons

  • Inconsistent flavor balance
  • Occasional overcooked ingredients

Customer Reviews:

Exceptional service

I got the pork Laab, Yellow curry and Thai ice tea, and Mango ice cream. Everything was amazing, from food to the homey atmosphere, and fantastic service. Portuon size is also quite large. If you want delicious Thai food that provides exceptional service you definitely should come here. We will be back

Cozy atmosphere

Highly recommend Thai Curry! We ordered the dumplings, papaya salad, chicken katsu, and Penang curry — everything was delicious and full of flavor. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has that cozy atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back!

Taste Of Thailand Restaurant is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a wide selection of Asian flavors.

They bridge the gap between traditional Thai curries and popular fusion dishes, which is perfect for groups who cannot decide what to eat. This inclusive menu makes it very easy to keep everyone happy during a night out.

The restaurant is situated in a great spot on Potranco Road and offers a warm, family-run vibe that makes you feel right at home.

I also appreciate how easy it is to place a carryout order through their website for a quick dinner at home.

While the menu is impressive, the kitchen sometimes struggles with specific flavor requests. You should also note that resolving a problem with your meal can occasionally be a slow and limited process.

Customer Reviews:

Staff is quick and attentive

Great authentic Thai food the flavors are fantastic. Food is fresh and hot. The portions are a great size a great spot for Valentines as it’s not very well known place and so there is no wait and staff is quick and attentive

Incredibly friendly and welcoming

I had such a great experience during my first visit! The lady at the front was incredibly friendly and welcoming—she greeted me with a warm smile that made my day. I ordered a medium spice Shrimp Pad Thai to go, and I was happy to find it still warm when I got home. I’d definitely give it a 5/5! The place itself is cozy and clean. It gave off a nice chill vibe. They had some fans running as well.

5. Thai Buri Restaurant

If you are tired of the same old street food, Thai Buri Restaurant offers a great change of pace. They focus specifically on Southern Thai cuisine and serve rare regional specialties like turmeric chicken soup.

This commitment to authentic flavors is perfect if you are looking to explore new tastes. The staff follows a warm home-style philosophy and treats everyone who walks through the door like family.

Because they use premium organic ingredients, it is a fantastic spot for anyone who is health-conscious.

However, these high-quality ingredients do mean that you will pay a bit more than at other local spots.

Customer Reviews:

The service was exceptional

First time here for lunch. Great variety of menu options. Our dishes were flavorful. The portions were generous. I went with medium heat and it was perfect, not too spicy to enjoy but had a little heat. I like that they have a variety of noodle dishes (vermicelli, glass, etc) to chose from.  They also had curry but we didn’t try that this visit.  The service was exceptional.  If you like Thai food, give this place a go; you wont regret it.

Very authentic

The Thai food here was exceptionally good! Tastes very authentic, and would highly recommend trying their appetizer Buri Chicken Curry Puffs and Panang Curry (has a spicy kick to it but so good!). If you want a noodle dish, my husband got the Ki Mow Spaghetti based on our waiter’s recommendation, and it was GOOD!! Overall, would come again and would recommend trying it.
