If you’re looking for a truly immersive Spanish dining experience, you have to check out Toro Kitchen + Bar. It’s currently the only certified authentic Spanish restaurant in town, and they even hold an official accreditation from Restaurants from Spain.
We stopped by for Sangria Sunday recently, and the atmosphere was incredible. Between the live flamenco music and the smoky aroma of fresh paella, it felt like we had been transported straight to Madrid.
The whole philosophy here is about slowing down and sharing tapas with friends, which makes for a great night out.
Their Spanish wine list is excellent, but try to arrive before the main dinner rush. Some guests have mentioned that the paella texture can be a little inconsistent when the kitchen is completely slammed.

Couples seeking a beautiful backdrop should definitely visit Hola for its scenic patio. This restaurant is a true Southtown treasure that offers a world twist on Spanish favorites.
Their menu beautifully blends classic tapas with Nuevo Latino and Mediterranean flavors. You can explore a rotating selection of over thirty shareable dishes, ranging from hearty lamb stew to fresh escargot.
To go along with the food, they offer a great selection of international wines and local beers. The location is ideal because it sits near the arts district and offers a clear view of the Tower of the Americas.
It is a wonderful place to relax, but be aware that the service might feel a bit sluggish when the outdoor seating area is at full capacity during peak hours.

Service was quick and effective
We were there celebrating my friend’s birthday. Whatever we ordered tasted so good. I will be back for more paella, beef steak on the stick with chimichurri, mussels and Shrimp with red sauce. The Sangria we ordered tasted like grape juice and potent. All of us got a little bit tipsy, just a little bit..LOL
Nicely decorated and service was quick and effective.
The dessert we ordered was the chocolate truffle with bitter after taste which is complete our tapas like a grand finale.

The overall experience was exceptional and I’m happy to say I have been to Hola’s and I highly recommend the sangria, tapas and paella. Tinto Y Tapas is the perfect place if you want a side of music with your meal. This restaurant combines a diverse tapas menu with a live Latin jazz venue for a really cool atmosphere.
Their Vibe Sommelier concept pairs lively music with delicious food, making the night feel like a special event. During our visit, we had a great time splitting small plates in the lounge while listening to a talented local band.
The chef has decades of experience and prepares a wonderful blend of Spanish and Latin flavors. His background is actually quite obvious because of how delicious everything we were served,
That said, traditional purists might find the fusion style a little surprising.
Plus, the space is very intimate. We highly recommend securing your spot well before the music starts.

Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared
had such a wonderful experience at Tinto y Tapas! The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and lively without feeling overwhelming, making it perfect for a date night or a fun evening with friends. Excellent food includes a variety of tapas made from scratch. Drinks are great especially their housemade sangria. Live performances such as acoustic music and flamenco take place Fridays and Saturdays for a cover charge of $15 a person. Over all the ambiance is intimate and great for dates. Highly recommend Carmen De La Calle as it is an over all great experience.

Great tapas, cozy atmosphere
This is by far our favorite spot in San Antonio. Great tapas, cozy atmosphere but even better is the live entertainment. These singers and dancers sing and dance their hearts out. It makes us feel like we have gone back to Spain every time we come to Carmen’s.

For something different than traditional Spanish food, try the Caribbean twist at Luna Rosa Puerto Rican Grill y Tapas. This family-run restaurant brings a lot of heart to their menu with authentic Puerto Rican small plates.
I recommend trying the crispy yuca frita or the plantain nachos while you enjoy the lively atmosphere.
The restaurant is quite big, so you never feel cramped while enjoying the music and food. It’s a fantastic place for celebrations, with great tropical drinks and ample space for large groups.
Their excellent rum selection and savory dishes have even caught the eye of national food networks lately.
The tapas, though, are a bit pricey for their size. It’s best to plan your budget accordingly before you go.
