1. Mathnasium

Website: https://www.mathnasium.com/
Address: 999 E Basse Rd.
Contact: (210) 809-6547 | [email protected]
Hours: Instructional Hours, Monday – Thursday, 3:30 PM-7:30 PM | Friday, 3:30 PM-6:30 PM | Saturday, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM | Office Hours, Monday – Thursday, 1:00 PM-7:30 PM | Friday, 1:00 PM-6:30 PM | Saturday, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM
Many students aren’t struggling because they’re bad at math; they just haven’t had it explained in a way that clicks. That’s what I noticed about Mathnasium.
They skip the endless worksheets and start with a thorough assessment to spot learning gaps, then create a plan that actually fits each student’s needs.
One thing families often like is the flat monthly membership. Students can attend multiple times per week without worrying about extra hourly charges. They also set aside time for homework help, which can be a huge relief during busy school weeks.
A family friend enrolled their son here and noticed a big boost in both confidence and classroom participation after a few months.
The main downside is that sessions happen in small groups rather than one-on-one. There is also a one-time enrollment fee when you first sign up.

They enjoy learning now
I have come to know several of the staff and everyone has been exceptional at providing my two daughters the math skills they need to be successful in the classroom! We chose to come during the summer after being with Mathnasium about a year and my girls couldn’t be happier with that choice because of how much they enjoy learning now. It’s because of their patience and guidance that I’ve remained confident my daughters will enter 5th and 6th grade this coming school year with both confidence and knowledge. Thank you all!

2. Sylvan Learning of North Central San Antonio

Website: https://www.sylvanlearning.com/locations/
Address: 16648 San Pedro Ave.
Contact: (210) 920-3538
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM-7:00 PM | Friday, 9:00 AM-1:30 PM | Saturday, 8:30 AM-1:00 PM
When a tutoring center is willing to stand behind its results, it immediately grabs my attention. That is one reason Sylvan Learning has built such a strong reputation.
Students begin with a detailed assessment to create a learning plan tailored to their specific needs.
A major highlight is their progress guarantee: if students don’t meet specific learning goals, they’ll receive extra sessions at no additional cost.
Another thing that impressed me is how tutors sync lessons with what’s being taught at school and often touch base with classroom teachers.
This saves parents from having to figure out assignments on their own. Flexible monthly payment options are another plus.
The biggest drawback is the higher cost compared to some local competitors. Weekend availability is also limited, and they are closed on Sundays.

They learn and have fun
Sylvan has been amazing. Our son was reading 2 grades below his grade level and now he is reading above his grade level. He loves going to Sylvan, they learn and have fun. He especially loves earning tokens, it’s a big motivator for him. We plan to enroll our kindergartener in Sylvan as well during the summer to prepare him for 1st grade in reading and math. Excellent teachers and center, I highly recommend.

For students who constantly ask, “When am I ever going to use this in real life?” this tutoring service takes a different approach.
That Math Kid focuses heavily on connecting math concepts to everyday situations, making lessons feel more practical and easier to understand.
Anthony, the owner and lead tutor, works with students across a wide range of math subjects, from Algebra to college-level coursework. He also offers instruction in Spanish, which makes the service more accessible for many local families.
A coworker of mine used his College Algebra tutoring and saw a huge improvement in one semester. I also appreciate the straightforward pricing and convenient online sessions.
The challenge is that the business relies on a single tutor. If the schedule fills up, getting an appointment can become difficult. The service also focuses strictly on math rather than multiple subjects.

Anthony is an awesome tutor ! He is very knowledgeable and patient when teaching his students . Anthony is also very flexible with his schedule, which was very important to me . I was able to complete an Allegra / Statistics class with an A+ and learned a lot from Anthony in the 6weeks that I worked with him . I would definitely recommend Anthony to any adult or student looking for tutoring .

4. Club Z! Tutoring of San Antonio

Address: 2030 N 1604 W.
Contact: (210) 263-3833 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday – Sunday, 9:00 AM-9:00 PM
Not every family has time to drive across town for tutoring after a long school day. That’s why Club Z! really appealed to me. With both in-home and virtual sessions, they make it simple to fit tutoring into even the busiest schedules.
Another feature I like is their tutor-matching process. They work to pair students with someone whose teaching style and personality are a good fit, which can make learning much more comfortable.
The service also follows local school curriculum standards and offers flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends. Families are not locked into long-term contracts either.
One thing to keep in mind is that tutor quality can vary since different independent tutors are assigned to students. You will also need a quiet learning space at home for sessions to be effective.

I do appreciate the communication with the tutors
So far my daughter has enjoyed her first weeks of tutoring. I do appreciate the communication with the tutors when I am not available to be home during tutoring. My concern with my daughter was her organization skills and the tutors executed this right away. They showed her that on one particular class she did not need tutoring so they taught her ways to be more organized. This is very impressive since I know online classes during the epidemic have been challenging for most students. They can now focus on the subjects she needs more help with.

5. Wilkinson Tutoring

Website: http://www.wilkinsontutoring.com/
Address: 819 Evans Rd.
Contact: (210) 595-9142 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 5:00 PM-9:00 PM | Wednesday, 5:00 PM-7:00 PM | Friday, 5:00 PM-6:30 PM | Saturday, 8:00 AM-9:00 PM | Sunday, 3:00 PM-9:00 PM
A student’s biggest challenge can often be finding someone who makes tough concepts easy to understand. That’s where Wilkinson Tutoring shines.
The service is led by a math degree holder who helps students from middle school through advanced high school classes.
I like how flexible the learning options are. Students can meet at home, online, or even at another agreed-upon location.
Their interactive online platform is also useful because both the tutor and student can work through problems together in real time. Evening and weekend availability also makes scheduling easier for busy families.
The main limitation is that very late weekday sessions are only offered online. Since the business relies heavily on one primary educator, appointment availability can sometimes be limited.

Continues to grow exponentially in her math skills
Megan is incredible! I found her through a Google search and I am so glad she had a time slot open up. My third grader was STRUGGLING with math. She would shut down, clench up and have trouble focusing during her math homework. My child is a completely different person now. She is so much more confident, she does her own math homework without any tears or fighting. She enjoys meeting with Megan each week and continues to grow exponentially in her math skills. We love Megan so much and are truly grateful to have her guidance!
