1. San Antonio Care Center (BEAT AIDS)

Website: https://beataids.org/
Address: 230 E Fredericksburg Road
Contact: (210) 212-2266
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
If you’re looking for comprehensive Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing, the prevention team at BEAT AIDS at the San Antonio Care Center offers highly confidential care.
The facility works directly with historically underserved groups, helping marginalized communities get the medical attention they deserve. The staff here is incredibly supportive, even offering rapid-start pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) protocols.
A close friend of mine recently stopped by for a routine check, and they really liked how the clinic’s collaborative model meant multiple doctors reviewed their results. It gave them a lot of peace of mind.
But you do need to plan around their schedule. The care centers only operate Monday through Friday, so weekend visits are out.
As some funds are strictly set aside for specific income brackets or high-risk demographics, general preventive patients might not qualify for all supplemental financial support.

2. AARC Health Equity Clinic

Website: https://aarcsa.com/
Address: 303 N. Frio Street
Contact: (210) 625-7200
Schedule:
- Mon-Tues, Thurs-Fri 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Weds 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Navigating primary care can sometimes feel a bit impersonal, so it’s refreshing to find a place like the AARC Health Equity Clinic, the city’s first non-profit medical clinic entirely dedicated to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) wellness.
Here, patients get to experience an integrated Johns Hopkins care model, meaning medical needs, housing support, and counseling are all handled under one roof.
Plus, they have an on-site Avita Pharmacy. This makes it super convenient to grab your prescriptions right after a specialized gender-affirming screening.
If you have a packed schedule, you can even take advantage of their late-night testing hours every Wednesday.
Just a heads up, though: if you want total anonymity, there is a policy limitation. While you can test anonymously for HIV, the clinic requires your information for other general STI screenings.
You also have to wait about three to seven business days for state lab processing on things like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.

How thoughtful!
Never as an adult have I been treated with this much dignity and respect at a doctor’s office. The staff, nurses, and doctors all are very polite, kind, and efficient. My Dr. takes her time to address all of my concerns and describe things in detail. I couldn’t be happier and I’m so glad I’ve made this place my primary care location. They even offered an option to ship my prescription to my home without me even having to ask. How thoughtful!

3. University Health Medical Center Pavilion

Website: https://www.universityhealth.com/locations/medical-center-pavilion
Address: 4647 Medical Drive
Contact: (210) 358-8145
Schedule: Daily 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
When an unexpected medical issue pops up, having a dedicated walk-in clinic nearby is a huge relief. The University Health Medical Center Pavilion is incredibly well-equipped.
They have an integrated radiology department running every single day to process diagnostic screenings right away. There’s even a specialized newborn clinic downstairs for early childhood developmental checks.
I actually used their MyChart app’s Save My Spot feature last month when I felt under the weather, and it seriously cut down my waiting room time before I even saw a clinician.
Although their general urgent care hours are super accessible, specialty departments, like Endocrinology, stick to a strict weekday schedule.
Also, general walk-in immunizations are only available for children three years and older. So, if you have an infant, you’ll need to book a formal pediatric appointment beforehand.

4. Concentra Urgent Care

Website: https://www.concentra.com/
Address: 400 E. Quincy
Contact: (210) 472-0211
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Finding a facility that handles complex regulatory health evaluations can be a headache for corporate clients.
Concentra Urgent Care makes it easier by using specialized medical expert panels to ensure every occupational screening meets strict federal guidelines, like the ones set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Both patients and employers get digital access to a secure portal to check lab results instantly. If a worker needs a quantitative respirator fit test, their staff is fully equipped to verify those protective seals.
Concentra handles these strict occupational physicals perfectly, but workers dealing with chronic joint mobility issues often follow up with local chiropractors for ongoing wellness care.
With five of their six local branches closed on Saturdays and Sundays, weekend access is pretty scarce. And if a patient fails any part of a Department of Transportation (DOT) screening, federal rules require a totally new exam and a second fee.

5. HealthTexas Primary Care Doctors (San Pedro)

Website: https://healthtexas.org/primary-care/sa/san-pedro/
Address: 530 San Pedro Avenue
Contact: (210) 225-4511
Schedule:
- Mon-Tues, Thurs-Fri 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weds 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Sat 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Older adults seeking preventive care need specialized attention, and HealthTexas Primary Care Doctors at San Pedro delivers through its deep expertise in managing Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans.
Rather than relying on a single proprietary program, they work directly with major networks to tailor care specifically to seniors. The practice focuses on high-tech preventive medicine while keeping things personal.
If a medical issue ever escalates, their coordinated hospitalist physicians actively manage the hospital transition so you never lose oversight. Plus, they offer a 24-hour physician-on-call service for after-hours guidance.
Just note that while the facility has a great on-site laboratory, you can’t book an early Wednesday appointment as their doors don’t open until 10:00 AM. Primary care is also limited to adults 18 and up.
Because the clinic focuses purely on internal medicine, older patients wanting cosmetic treatments like High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for skin tightening will need to visit a specialized aesthetic center.
