Skipping the wait is a breeze at Stanton Optical. Their onsite lab technicians can custom-make single-vision glasses in just thirty minutes!

You can also bring your own frames for new lenses, making this a dependable choice for shoppers looking for efficiency.

I recently stopped by to renew my prescription here, and the speed of their same-day eye exam was genuinely impressive. They also offer a convenient setup where you can renew an expired prescription using a live technician from your home computer.

While the convenience is fantastic, it’s worth noting that their eye exam fees are strictly non-refundable, even if you’re unhappy with the frames. And if you decide to order online, standard shipping charges apply for purchases under fifty dollars.

Pros

  • Free eye exam with any purchase
  • Unlimited one-year frame warranty
  • Accepts customers’ existing frames
  • Takes Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA)

Cons

  • Non-refundable eye exam fees
  • Shipping fees on smaller orders

Alyssa, Alex, Danny, and the rest of the crew were all so great. I came in with no knowledge of my vision impairment and they guided me through the process in a friendly and educational manner. They also took care of some warranty work on my wife’s glasses she previously purchased from the same group and they made it hassle free and simple. This is definitely the place I’ll be recommending to anyone needing anything regarding to eyewear and vision testing.  CHRIS AND ALLY WERE AMAZING

Dani was absolutely awesome and so very much helpful making my first time visit easy and comfortable. She explained all my options and was able to help me pick my first pair of reading and work glasses. Thanks again to the wonderful team they have there. Everyone should visit Stanton Optical for their large selection of  eyewear and helpful professional staff.

Still, we think LensCrafters is a good partner, especially if you’re looking for stylish frames to go with that new facial from your aesthetic clinic

I’ve been a loyal client of Lenscrafters for many years, not only because of the great always varied and up to date frames available but also because of the tremendous staff that has always been so helpful every year when it’s time for me to shop for new glasses. This year I had the wonderful experience of being helped by Amy who is spectacular in every aspect of doing her job. She is extremely knowledgeable and very honest about what frames were flattering or the best choice for my face shape, and helped me make a terrific selection.

My 2nd year working with Leo, on helping me choose a perfect frame for a new prescription. He’s honestly amazing for being so eager to assist and makes sure you leave happy. I have a great experience every time I visit this location. Mariana was just as amazing and helpful. I appreciate the positive vibes and appreciate these 2 for going the extra mile on ensuring great customer service. Thank you and I’ll be back next year.

Website: opticalsanantonio.com

Address: 2526 Nacogdoches Rd

Contact: (210) 828-1321

Hours: Monday to Tuesday, Thursday 9:00AM–6:00PM | Wednesday 10:00AM–6:00PM | Friday 9:00AM–5:00PM

Local patients benefit greatly from The Eyeglass Shop’s dedicated on-site laboratory, which enables same-day turnaround for select prescriptions. They maintain a vast inventory of styles from top designers with plenty of aesthetic choices.

If they don’t have what you want in stock, they can even order it from other stores on your behalf. This speaks to the character of the staff.

The opticians here collaborate directly with you to customize lenses, ensuring the materials match your specific daily requirements. I recently visited them to replace my scratched lenses, and the staff’s attention to detail was thorough and welcoming.

And to save on costs, you can take advantage of their insurance benefits.

On the downside, scheduling can be tricky since the primary optometrist isn’t on-site every day of the week. Comprehensive check-ups are also known to be quite lengthy, making it tough to fit an appointment into a standard lunch break.

Pros

  • On-site laboratory for same-day turnaround
  • Can order styles from outside designers
  • Customized lenses
  • Staff actively coordinates insurance benefits

Cons

  • Primary optometrist has limited availability
  • Comprehensive vision check-ups are lengthy

Great office!  Knowledgeable staff, friendly, great customer service.  Always on time. Dr. Baker is kind and always looking out for his patients’ comfort.  Office staff is patient and helpful when selecting Eyewear.  They explain how best to use your benefits.  Love the follow up texts to make sure you are happy with Eyewear.  Love this office!

I really enjoyed Katherine and her help with the frame search. I love my new eyewear!

Dr Aaker is very attentive and listens and explains well.

It’s hard to find a good doctor with good staff. In the Eyeglass Shop, we have both! The entire team is professional and friendly and helpful.

4. Eyemart Express

Website: eyemartexpress.com

Address: 3818 S New Braunfels Ave

Contact: (210) 532-5261

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00AM–7:00PM | Saturday 9:00AM–5:00PM

Budget-conscious shoppers will appreciate Eyemart Express. One of their main draws is their continuous buy-one-get-one promotional offer, which helps you save on frames, especially when buying with a friend or family member.

Despite the low prices here, service is impeccable. Unlike many retailers, their dedicated in-store lab can process advanced progressive lenses without making you wait weeks for delivery.

You can also seamlessly book a fresh exam with the adjacent independent eye doctors before browsing their heavily discounted multi-pair packages.

Much like investing in a cosmetic neck lift to enhance your appearance, updating your eyewear here is a straightforward way to boost your confidence.

A notable disadvantage is that many of their best value bundles can’t be redeemed through their website. You have to physically visit the store to access those specific discounts.

Customers are also not allowed to apply vision insurance funds toward the promotional multi-pair deals.

Pros

  • Continuous buy-one-get-one promotional offer
  • Dedicated in-store lab
  • Adjacent to independent optometry practices

Cons

  • Best deals require an in-store visit
  • Cannot stack vision insurance with discounts

Recently went to Eyemart Express for my new pair of eyeglasses. Loved the attention that the employees give you and are very helpful when selecting your eyewear. They explain all costs as they inform you of the many options and the 1 hr service is the best! I left to go do some shopping and received a txt that my glasses were ready and it was only 45 min since I left the store. Employees at the McCreless location are the best!

I had three pair of glasses – all day wearing, sunglasses, and a pair for distance for late night TV watching.  What perfect vision I now have!  Service from Mercedes, placement of progressive lens lines, and the sturdiness of my Eyewear were all superior! Thanks for a great experience!

5. San Antonio Eyeworks

Website: saeyeworks.com

Address: 4553 N. Loop 1604 W Suite 1225

Contact: 210.251.2372 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday & Wednesday 8:00AM–5:00PM | Tuesday & Thursday 9:00AM–6:00PM | Friday 8:00AM–2:00PM

Taking a serious approach to ocular health, San Antonio Eyeworks operates strictly as a medical office rather than a fast-paced retail shop. They focus on preventative care, which is excellent for those prioritizing deep clinical analysis.

They analyze over twenty-five distinct factors regarding your eye health to deliver a highly customized care plan. By utilizing advanced digital surfacing equipment, they create precise glasses that cut down to a fraction of a diopter.

They also specialize in hard-to-fit contact lenses and overnight vision correction therapies.

Because their products are entirely custom-made, you should know that they enforce a rigid policy prohibiting returns or refunds.

Patients should also be cautious about their schedules, as failing to provide a twenty-four-hour notice for a cancellation results in a steep fifty-dollar penalty.

Pros

  • Emphasis on comprehensive preventative care
  • Analyzes twenty-five distinct factors on eye health
  • Advanced digital surfacing equipment
  • Offers hard-to-fit contact lenses and overnight vision correction therapies

Cons

  • No refunds or returns on final sales
  • Steep penalty fee for missed appointments

I had a great experience! I went in for an eye exam and new glasses, and the entire visit felt very personal and one-on-one. The staff was amazing—super attentive and knowledgeable. I usually have a hard time picking out glasses, but they pulled several high-end designer options for me to try on. With their guidance, I ended up choosing a beautiful pair that I absolutely love. Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality care and stylish, luxury eyewear!

Doctor is so awesome! She’s so personable and takes her time to really get to know you and remember you as well! Great vibe! Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.  Very simple and stress free process from the scheduling to exam and ordering the glasses! Great selection of eyewear and music is always positive and upbeat!
