Let’s face it—no matter how much we adore those cute pleading eyes, sometimes we just have to leave our dogs behind. Whether it’s that long-awaited Bali vacation or a work trip you can’t skip, there are times when they just can’t come along.
That’s where dog boarding feels like a total lifesaver. It’s basically temporary housing for dogs that allows us to leave them in the care of professionals when we just can’t go home.
As fur parents, we can be worrywarts—and it’s totally understandable. Is it safe? Will my dog feel lonely? We get it.
So let’s cut to the chase: here are some trusted dog boarding spots in San Antonio that pet parents can actually feel good about.
How much is dog boarding in San Antonio?
Dog boarding in San Antonio typically costs between $30 – $70 per night. The price can vary based on the type of room, amenities, and the length of the stay.
1.DogConnectionPDX Daycare & Boarding

Address: 7515 N Mississippi Ave
Phone: +15037196171
Boarding hours: Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Dogs are known for being full of energy, and we all know how messy (and fun) it can get to take care of them. DogConnectionPDX Daycare & Boarding really understands these quirky behaviors.
Many pet owners we talked to said they appreciated how knowledgeable the team is and how they often share insights into their dog’s behaviors—something you’d usually pay extra for elsewhere.
We love how the facility focuses on safety and fun. There’s a required membership evaluation to check each dog’s health, personality, and temperament before boarding.
What’s even better is their dedication to caring for dogs without restrictions on breeds and sizes—no dog gets left out!
The facility has a large indoor play where dogs can socialize and play all day, only heading to their kennels at night. We especially loved this since we noticed that many of the pet owners we talked to have high-energy dogs, so socialization and playing are very important.
That said, there were a few minor hiccups, like not getting the requested updates by call or text. But those small things pale in comparison to the fantastic overall service the pet received—and the pet parent still highly recommends the place.
I’m just happy she’s happy while I’m away.
“My pup loves daycare and boarding here. She literally squeals and tries to jump out of the car upon arrival. I’m just happy she’s happy while I’m away. Leaves exhausted- it’s the best. I also really appreciate she’s had good boarding experiences – such a relief to have options.”

They were able to get us in on short notice!
“Seriously such an amazing boarding facility! Virgil was able to get us in on short notice and has taken great care of our puppy. Would trust/recommend this place to everyone!”

2. Puppy Power Dog Resort

Address: 3222 Ackerman Rd
Phone: 210-320-2293
Boarding hours:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4 PM
Puppy Power Dog Resort is well loved for its super reasonable prices. It even offers military discounts and a grooming discount if your dog is boarding.
Everyone we talked to highlighted how playtime is never cut short, even when your dog is just there for boarding, which isn’t always the case in other places.
On the care side, one pet parent really appreciated how Puppy Power goes the extra mile by washing the blankets the dogs sleep on. It’s a thoughtful touch that shows just how much care they have for the pups they’re taking care of.
While the facilities aren’t brand new and are definitely showing some age, we still loved the huge grassy outdoor yards and a climate-controlled indoor playroom. They allow dogs to run around and make friends, rain or shine.
We also felt that extra TLC through their community rescue ID tag program. They offer free custom ID tags with the resort’s contact info. That way, if your pet ever goes missing and someone finds them, they can call Puppy Power directly.
Board my dogs a few times here.
“I’ve had to board my dogs a few times. They always keep me in the loop and let me ine if anything seems off. They let two of them stay together since one gets nervous alone. Would recommend and will use again when needed.”

They take really great care of the dogs!
“I can’t say enough positive things about this place. My dog is not social with other dogs and not even good with other humans. Finding a boarding place for him in the past was hard but I’ve been boarding him here for years now and he loves it. The people that work here are always friendly and I think they take really great care of the dogs. I’ve moved all around the area but no matter how far away I’ve lived, I always board him here. 10/10 would recommend.”

What sets Tail Waggerz Day Care and Boarding apart is how they start every new pet with a meet and greet assessment. It’s their way of making sure your dog feels comfortable and is a good fit for group play, so everyone stays safe and happy.
Pet owners we talked to also appreciated how clean and spacious the place is. Plus, Tail Waggerz encourages you to bring your dog’s favorite blanket or toy to make it feel more like home.
Safety is clearly a priority here. Your pets are always under supervision with video monitoring, and the staff keeps you updated on how your fur baby is doing.
And hey—if you’re a dog and cat parent, you’re not left out! They’ve got cozy two- and three-tier cat spaces with a separate entrance from the dogs, so your feline friends can relax in peace.
They took great care of my shy/anxious doggie.
“My first time boarding my pup (he’s almost 6) and he’s a very shy/anxious doggie. Tail Waggerz took great care of him and sent me pics and updates to let me know how he was doing. I’m so grateful to them and happy to have found them. Thank you for being great to my doggie, Jax!!”

I couldn’t be happier with how well it went.
“Left my girls with tail waggerz for their first boarding experience ever, and I couldn’t be happier with how well it went. They sent pictures and updates every few days, and when we picked them up they were being very affectionate with the staff, which tells me they were treated very well and felt as comfortable as they could in that situation. They gave them time out of the kennel to play and stretch their legs, and it was evident that they were taken very good care of in my absence. Thanks Tail Waggerz crew!”

4. The Pets Inn Hotel Boutique for Dogs & Cats

Address: 123 W. Rhapsody Dr.
Phone: 210-971-6033
Business Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
One of the best things about the Pets Inn is the staff! They treat your dog like their own and truly go above and beyond.
One pet parent shared how the team took their dogs to the vet while they were out of town because the dog might have tapeworms—that’s next-level care.
And if you’re an overprotective dog mom (no shame in that!), you’ll absolutely love the regular photos and videos they send of your pup having the time of their life.
The facility is super clean and well-organized, with 24/7 water available and veterinarian-approved food. Dogs are grouped for play based on size and personality, so they get just the right mix for fun and comfort.
That said, we did encounter a concern from one pet parent regarding a refund for unused boarding days that was promised but not received.
While this may have been an isolated case, it’s something we hope they work on. When it comes to pet care, clear and reliable communication matters just as much as cuddles and playtime.
They update me on my pup every day.
“Extremely communicative and responsive! They update me on my pup every day and make sure he’s as comfortable as possible! Definitely will keep boarding here!”

BEST boarding place ever!
“BEST boarding place in all of SA!! Staff are super friendly and excited when seeing the dogs. My dog is always taken care of whether going for daycare or boarding and is excited to go back every time. ❤️”

5. Pup Pup & Away

Address: 3701 San Pedro Ave
Phone: (210) 899-1688
Business Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 7 AM – 6 PM
This pick is way more than just a place for your dog to crash. At Pup Pup & Away, boarding here feels more like a fun camp where your pup learns, plays, and gets all the love.
From the get-go, you’ll notice how much thought they put into everything. First, your dog has to go through a two-day orientation, which is their way of easing dogs into the space and making sure they’re comfortable and ready.
One pet parent shared that only one of their two pups passed the daycare group assessment. However, even the one who didn’t still got tons of love, one-on-one attention, and a solid routine of long and short walks each day.
Going back to how this place goes “beyond” the basics, pet parents rave about how training is built right into their daily routine. Your dog isn’t just lounging — they’re learning manners and staying mentally engaged.
You’ll even get detailed daily report cards with updates, photos, and videos of your pup’s day, which is absolutely incredible!
A place where our dog blossoms safely.
“I have an anxious dog and have tried more than 8 places for boarding and 3 trainers to help him feel more relaxed about socializing. This place is amazing. The video updates and report cards show me exactly what they are doing with him AND how he is responding. It is AMAZING!!! We have found not only our safe place for him, but a place where he can blossom safely with other dogs in a well supervised environment.”
-Mr. Ball, Google Review
We love their day care and boarding!
“Wonderful with our dog with a history of resource guarding, and our new dog that we just adopted. So far we love their day care and boarding. Our first dog boarded there for a week and we got daily updates with photos, videos, summaries, and training sessions. We’re soon going to enroll both dogs in group training. Love this place!!!” -Ms.
