Finding the best cat grooming in San Antonio does not have to feel like wrestling a tiny tiger. As cat owners, we know how important it is to keep our pets clean and comfortable, especially when dealing with stubborn mats or nervous kittens.
If you often rely on trusted pet sitters while you are away, it is always nice to come home to a well-groomed cat.
While dog grooming shops are easy to find, it can be harder to locate places that truly understand how to handle cats with care.
That is why I have put together a list of top spots in the city that offer gentle, low-stress grooming specifically for felines.
How much does cat grooming cost in San Antonio?
Cat grooming in San Antonio can cost anywhere from $30 for basic grooming to $140 for specialized packages. The final cost depends on what’s included in the grooming package and whether it’s a mobile service.
| Service Type | Estimated Cost |
| Basic Grooming | $30 – $70 |
| Specialized Packages / Mobile | $73 – $140 |
1. CityVet | Castle Hills Veterinary Clinic & Urgent Care

Address: 10003 NW Military Hwy #1103
Contact: (210) 594-1115
Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
This facility combines veterinary care and grooming into one convenient visit, allowing you to schedule both a haircut and a wellness check at the same time. It eliminates the need to travel to multiple locations, making the whole process much easier.
A neighbor of mine recently brought her anxious Maine Coon here for grooming and appreciated having veterinary staff nearby in case anything came up. She said the team creates a calm, low-stress environment to keep her sensitive pet comfortable.
Their focus on health is great too. Many cat owners I spoke with shared that they appreciated how the team keeps an eye out for potential skin issues or infections.
Just be aware that they have a strict parasite policy. If fleas or ticks are found, treatment is provided immediately, which will add to the final cost.
Great with my cat
Dr Krampe was my previous vet at another location so I am so happy she is at CityVet. She is great with my cat and is always realistic about treatments especially when it comes to my elderly cats! I highly recommend CityVet and Dr Krampe!

Pricing is very reasonable
The team here is soo wonderful and helpful. Pricing is very reasonable, too. I love that they have multiple locations so that I can see someone any day of the week as needed for urgent care. Visits are quick too as they don’t have you waiting very long to be seen. They treat my pets as if they were their own and always listen to my concerns. Soo glad I made the change to them as our Vet.

Address: 506 Bonham
Contact: (210) 608-3716
Hours: Monday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Groom & Bloom Pet Grooming is a family-run business that stands out by offering both mobile grooming and a shop location. This gives you the flexibility to choose what works best for you and your cat.
If your cat hates car rides, having the groomer come to your home can make a big difference. They also take things slowly with nervous cats, giving them time to get comfortable before starting the grooming process.
I also love their packages. They cover all the basics, including brushing, ear cleaning, and nail trims.
Pricing is also clear and reasonable, which makes it easy to plan ahead.
That said, because they are in high demand, they sometimes bring in newer groomers. Because of this, some customers have mentioned small differences in haircut quality or drying depending on who handles the appointment.
They did an amazing job
I asked Amber and her assistant to do a Cat Mini Groom. This is the first time my cat, Danni, had a grooming service. They did an amazing job on him! He looks like a big fluffy cotton ball and feels like one too, lol! Although he doesn’t forgive me for his spa day, I’m thankful for Amber and her assistant for taking care of my fur baby!!

Couldn’t be happier
Our cat was getting stressed about going into the carrier so after a ten minute attempt they agreed to come back a little later so that Luna wouldn’t be too stressed during the cut. When she came back Luna was already in the carrier and once she was with the groomer it went by quickly and Luna couldn’t be happier to be clean and groomed. Luna won’t stop asking to be pet and our other cat Bella got her nails trimmed also. We will definitely be calling again in 3-6 months for our next grooming.

Planet Pet Spa takes a more personalized approach by tailoring every grooming session to each pet. With years of experience, the team is confident in handling even the most sensitive long-haired cats.
I took my rescue cat here for a deshedding session last month, and they were incredibly patient with him the entire time. The environment is calm and quiet. They also use gentle, pet-safe shampoos that are easy on the skin.
On top of that, booking is easy through their online system, which is a nice bonus.
Just keep in mind that appointments are not quick. Since they take their time and are often busy, you can expect to spend a few hours there.
They DID NOT disappoint
It was my first time here for a cat shaving and grooming appt. They DID NOT disappoint, my cat was ready in quicker time than advised (which was an awesome thing). Texted me to confirm a few details and to advise when she was done. Beautifully shaved her fur coat since my cat can be too fluffy and needs a good shave every few months. Now my cat smells good, weighs a few pounds less and even attached a pink bow on her! Awesome job 😎

Did a great job
This was my first visit and I was very satisfied. I took my cat in due to her nails being real long. The tech did a great job bathing her and doing her nails as well as putting the caps on her nails for us. The process was easy. My kitty was done within a few hours. By far the easiest grooming process I’ve had. My tech was Maria and sje was very friendly.

Helga’s Pet Grooming Plus is a long-standing neighborhood favorite that has been part of the local pet community since the early eighties. With decades of experience, the groomers handle even difficult cats with confidence.
They offer a straightforward, full-service menu that covers essentials like bathing, ear cleaning, and sanitary trims at affordable rates. Their focus on affordability makes regular grooming more accessible for families.
Many pet owners also appreciate their flexible scheduling. They often accept walk-ins for quick touch-ups when available.
However, some customers have noted occasional communication issues at the front desk, especially regarding appointment times and specific requests.
Even so, their experience and value continue to make them a reliable option.
This was my first time using Helga’s Pet Grooming. I needed to get a lion’s cut for my cat. They did a great job on the cut and even gave her a bow. I didn’t utilize the bath or nail services as my cat doesn’t tolerate those. My wishes were respected for a wiped down and they haircut was very even. Will be back again!

Fantastic job
I took my cat to have his nails trimmed. Even though they were completely booked, they took him in since it was a relatively quick thing to do. When I returned home, not only did they do a fantastic job on trimming his nails, they combed out one area of his fur that had gotten matted! (I had tried to comb it out before going there, but it was stubborn.) I will definitely call upon them again in the future for any cat grooming services I’ll need to have done.

5. Scissors & Suds Pet Grooming

Address: 1031 Patricia Dr #112
Contact: (210) 340-2294
Scissors & Suds Pet Grooming stands out by dedicating part of its services specifically to cats, rather than treating them as an afterthought.
Their certified professionals are well-trained in handling sensitive animals. This helps ensure a gentle and calm grooming experience from start to finish.
Plus, the facility maintains high cleanliness standards and uses quality products for a safe, sanitary environment.
They also offer quick nail trim services for those who only need minor upkeep.
And while this might be a small thing, I appreciate that they have a detailed FAQ for tips on preparing a nervous kitten for its first visit.
However, the administrative side can sometimes fall behind due to high demand. Some customers have reported occasional scheduling issues or difficulty reaching staff by phone.
Did a fantastic job grooming
Evil was so great! She let me bring both my babies at the last minute without an appointment and she did a fantastic job grooming them!! I will always take my girls there.

Very patient
I can’t say enough good things about the staff at this scissors and suds! They do an amazing job with the coat on my Samoyed show dog. Finding someone to take good care of a double coated breed in south Texas was really difficult until we found scissors and suds. They make sure to comb out her undercoat before and after washing her and take care to follow her breeders exact grooming instructions so she is always show ready. They are also very patient with her and she is a handful!
