Survive the Texas Heat with the Best Blinds in San Antonio from These 5 Shops

best-blinds-san-antonio
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Geographic Coverage: We checked where these companies actually travel to make sure they reach plenty of neighborhoods. Providers covering a lot of ground make it way easier for homeowners all over the map to get the help they need.

Material Selection: Looking at their style catalogs helped us spot places that fit different tastes. We prioritized businesses that carry basic roller shades alongside advanced motorized wooden slats.

Technical Customization: We looked closely at how well these crews handle weird window shapes or tricky home layouts. If they can easily measure and build custom fixes, you know they really know their stuff.

Consultation Experience: Checking out how they plan things out lets us see how much personal help you actually get. Places giving free home estimates or set you up with a design helper just make buying so much easier.

The Texas sun really doesn’t mess around. When your current window treatments let your living room turn into an oven, finding the best blinds in San Antonio becomes a matter of keeping your house livable.

I completely understand the heated struggle. After finishing up a thorough home cleaning or getting that new solar panel array set up, all you want is to kick back in a cool room. Instead, that awful afternoon glare leaves you squinting.

Beating that kind of weather requires tough materials that won’t warp in the high temperatures, along with experts who know how to handle tricky window shapes.

So, I did the screening to save you the headache. I tested fabric opacities at local showrooms and sat through their in-home consultations. Here are the top blinds providers around town so you can safely step away from the sun.

How much do blinds cost in San Antonio?

Getting new window treatments feels a whole lot easier when the store comes right to your couch. That’s why I really appreciate that Budget Blinds drops by for free home visits.

Their design crew handles all the measuring and installation. When my sister needed custom shades for her oddly shaped living room windows, this local crew tapped into their national brand network to find an exact match.

They also carry a huge variety of styles and popular brands to fit your look and wallet. You can even choose motorized systems or cordless designs to keep things safe for kids.

Booking a spot on their calendar might take some patience, though. People often end up waiting a bit between that first measurement and the final setup.

Getting a quick update from their support team can also be a bit tricky sometimes.

Pros

  • Free home visits right to your couch
  • Full measuring and installation service included
  • Huge variety of styles and popular brands
  • Motorized and cordless options for kid safety

Cons

  • Wait times between measuring and final setup
  • Booking an initial appointment takes patience
  • Support team updates can be a bit slow

Final product was beautiful!

Great experience with Budget Blinds! Every step of the process was easy and efficient. Turnaround time from order to install was right at 4 weeks which was faster than I expected. Final product was beautiful! We’re very happy with the whole experience.

Absolutely recommend them!

I had a great experience with Budget Blinds from start to finish. Scheduling an estimate was super easy, and when I visited the showroom, everyone was friendly and helpful. The person who helped me choose my blinds answered all my (many!) questions with patience. The scheduler and installer were just as great—professional, prompt, and kind. I’m very happy with the final result and would absolutely recommend them!

  • Sat 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

If you want well-made custom wood shutters, you’ll love that Window Fashions of Texas builds them right here in the state. Since they make their own products, they keep a close eye on materials and timelines.

Their team handles everything. Their crew starts by chatting with you and stays involved right through mounting the final piece.

This place also runs one of the biggest physical showrooms around. This space lets interior designers and homeowners actually test out how things work before buying.

You get to check out a massive Hunter Douglas inventory featuring smart home setups and solid warranties. But given their heavy focus on custom builds, they’re not the best stop for a quick fix.

If you’re rushing for off-the-shelf shades, their route might be too long for you. They do handle bulk made-to-order projects just fine, though it adds to the wait.

Pros

  • Custom wood shutters built right in Texas
  • One of the biggest physical showrooms around
  • Massive Hunter Douglas inventory to check out
  • The same team handles everything from start to finish

Cons

  • Not a great fit if you need quick fixtures
  • Heavy focus on custom builds takes longer
  • Bulk made-to-order projects add to the wait

How we’d like our new blinds and curtains to fill our living space

Shari from Window Fashion of Texas was extremely helpful throughout the whole process.  She was very patient and listened to what we were looking for to fit our vision of how we’d like our new blinds and curtains to fill our living space. We are very pleased with our experience and the fact that they got them in just before Thanksgiving!!!

Still happy I chose them!

This is the second time I have used Window Fashions and I am still happy I chose them!

The blinds in our house were mismatched and only half were fully operational. Our design consultant, Joanna, came out quickly, listened to what I wanted, took measurements, and gave me a quote on the spot. The blinds got ordered and came in about 2 weeks later. Our install tech, Dave, was super friendly and professional as well, and got all of the blinds installed in right about an hour (8 windows). The price is fair and the service is great. Highly recommended!

Looking at fabric samples right under your own living room lights saves you from picking the wrong color. Made in the Shade San Antonio skips the showroom hassle by bringing their styling help straight to your house or office.

Staff here handles all the exact measuring and mounting to ensure every piece fits your windows exactly right. This local group assembles a great lineup of top brands.

Homeowners can pick out some heavy living room drapes or go with tough outdoor shades for the patio. Syncing these fixtures to smart home systems like Siri or Google Assistant also makes for an easier daily routine.

While their home-visit setup works great, it does change how you shop. As the actual physical store is by appointment only, dropping in to browse around on a random afternoon is not an option.

Pros

  • Styling help comes straight to your house
  • Staff handles all exact measuring and mounting
  • Great lineup of top brands for indoors and out
  • Syncs easily with smart home systems

Cons

  • Physical store requires an appointment

So pleased with the customer service and efficiency

We ordered our new beautiful Graber cellular blinds from Made in the Shade. Cyndi and Alex Navarrete made the the whole process so simple. On December 2 we chose our color and Alex took the measurements and by January 6 Alex had installed them. We are so pleased with the customer service and efficiency we’ve experienced!

Highly recommend the Norman Smart Drape

If you need luxury window treatments along with excellent customer service move forward with Made in the Shade. We are 100% satisfied with the Norman products that were installed. I highly recommend the Norman Smart Drape if you need to cover large sliding doors w/ floor to ceiling windows. It’s a modern and motorized take on your old school vertical blinds. It’s beautiful!!

Sorting through a mountain of window covering choices is much easier with a guide who skips the pushy sales pitch. Blinded By Delight leans on twenty years of local know-how to give you a really personal planning experience.

When I visited their Hunter Douglas showroom, their staff took the time to explain different costs and fabric thicknesses. We worked together until we found exactly what my room needed.

With their flexible setups, you can hash out the final details at their store, on a call, or right on your couch. They even hand over temporary paper shades to keep peeping eyes out while your real blinds are being built.

Going with these highly custom designs does mean you have to wait a bit, though. Building and putting up these tricky layouts often pushes timelines out to around six weeks.

Pros

  • Super flexible ways to plan your project
  • They hand out temporary privacy shades
  • Deep knowledge of local home design
  • Great at handling tricky window layouts

Cons

  • Custom building takes up to six weeks

Skipping the middleman usually means you get better quality and folks who actually answer your questions. At Sunburst Shutters San Antonio, an in-house team oversees your project without relying on outside subcontractors.

Every single piece gets cut to fit your exact measurements and is backed by a lifetime warranty. Getting this kind of custom woodwork does stretch out the timeline, though.

Wrapping up a full installation usually takes four to six weeks. On top of that, ordering real wood means the custom staining process pushes that wait out even further.

If you need shutters give Sunburst a call

This is the second house we have had Sunburst install shutters. This was a house that had some windows with builder hollow shutters and some windows with blinds. Sunburst installed the whole house with new great quality shutters. Service was great from Tino coming measure to installation with Tony and David. Service was great and price was very reasonable.
